I have finally tried mac 12. Really like it ! Very rich nose, great taste! Would you say that there is something, other than glendronach, that is very similar to the mac 12 experience? (Sadly it's impossible to find in Canada ...)
Julien Capolupo Ever tried Aberlour? Not the same but close. The 12 or 18 are nice whiskys.

Great review guys. Glendronach wins for me and here's why. Glendronach 12 - £39; Macallan 12 - £70. That's right, £70 a freakin bottle, at 40%. Taking the piss big time. It's only £5 cheaper than the Glendronach 18. Another couple of 12 year sherried whiskys worth a try are the Blair Athol (43%, coloured and chill-filtered but a sherry to be reckoned with) and the Benriach (natural colour, non chill-filtered at a juicy 46%).
Welsh Toro wow, there nearly the same price here in the US. Any reason why the Macallan is so much more in your area?

The bottle in your review is though old 1. the new macallan 12 comes in a black Box and has A V in the glass neck of the bottle
As I watched your recent review on the Mac 12, I was wishing for a comparison with the Glendronach 12 which I have always felt is a very good example of a heavily sherried scotch. Thanks guys.

I'm a monster macallan fan. I've noticed that the new bottle of the 12 sherry cask is a little lighter then the old bottle. that leads me to believe there putting newer make in it and I think it tastes different. no one has done a vs on then yet can you help a brother out .thanks for the videos f#@%&*g love them cheers
I, too, am a big Macallan fan. I have a comparison of Mac 18 vs Glandronach 18 vs Bunna 18 coming soon. If I can find an old bottling of the Mac 12 I will be happy to do a comparison... Regarding the color, Macallan is always natural color so color variations will happen. it could be from younger whisky, as you stated but the performance of the cask is also a big factor.
What is the bottling year on the Glendo? (Check Laser Code) the 2013 ones are about 18 years old, whereas the 2014, and later are only 12 yo. For god's sake, put on a shirt!
