I’m so sorry for the way the light starts to flicker and my camera starts to move??? The camera was on a tripod so my bathroom may be haunted. Just pretend it was an artistic decision
It started when you moved to show the outfit. The camera tried to adapt the new colour contrast and changed focus and exposure but it was a bit unsuccessful to return to original setting and started to recalculate again and again. And then the shaking comes from your camera stabilization as it changes with movement detected not only from the tripod (static in this case) but when the subject photographed is moving as well. So don't worry, no ghosts in this bathroom. Great set and video, loved the effects as well ❤️🩹
Edit: it did not start when you showed the outfit but a little bit before that. Again for the same reason you were moving a bit more. But got more dramatic after. It's normal tho, giving the contrast of the light and darkness surrounding it. If your light is LED that might be a reason for the blinking as well just to throw that in the mix of things to check, if you don't like the effect next time.
Legit chortled when I read that while watching. 🤣
@@neuralink3552 thank you!! Yeah it’s an old camcorder from the 00s so I was also putting the poor lil guy to work by recording for almost an hour on it haha
lmao it looks so cool i thought it was an artistic choice lol
You should probably add an epilepsy warning though
the bathtub set up looked sick!! loved the indie horror movie vibes
YES. ABSOLUTELY IMMACULATE
Ok now I really want to see your Pinterest boards
ok u got the DEFINITION of "the siren eyes" jet sound like the sweatest person ever. Love it purrr
I love hearing your movie recommendations and especially recommendations like this. I feel like even though I follow a lot of film critque channels. They tend to keep up with new releases, so they watch films that came out that year. So it's nice to get films that weren't just in 2023. Maybe because I've seen a lot of those listed it feels like the same films show up on the list even though they really are good. And I've seen a lot of films that came out this year and I had a great time watching them.
Some of my favorites were In the Mood for Love, L A Confidential, Poor Things, Sunset Blvd and Pather Panchali
Yeah I feel the same way!! It’s always the same films slightly shuffled around in their order lol
have you seen person to person or its kinda a funny story? both great movies
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY PERSON WHO SAW INNOCENCE FINALLY ANOTHER PERSON SEES HOW GOOD IT IS
RIGHT?? It's so beatifully set and carries so many feminist themes, it's crazy it's not more talked about. And yet it's the perfect channel to hear about this film!
@@a.leuchat3168I can’t wait to watch it
Agreed!!! I was shook by the film and felt like I was the only one in the world who'd seen it! Such a special and strange gem, the psychology behind it is so interesting. It still lingers in my mind even though I watched it more than a year ago.
i came here to say this! idk anyone who has seen it, and this is the first time i've seen it even mentioned online!
Okay now that I’ve seen these comments and know people are interested in this film I need to make a video on this film immediately hahaha
God she's so gorgeous. Super model tier
I dont know i was too scared to open this video because of the thumbnail. Her eyes are scary like piercing into my soul. 😅
Fun fact: she used to actually model!
Why objectifying her? You say nothing about the video or what she says, only referring to her looks? She's not a pice of meat. And the worst thing is that I'm pretty sure you're a woman. You think this is how you must encourage each other? Pfff.. then stop complaining about men treating you like you're nothing but a sex object.
Why objectifying her? You have nothing to say about her video?
She's not a pice of meat. The worst thing is that I'm pretty sure you're a woman. Women rate each other by the looks then complain about men treating them as sex objects. Pfff...
I like your choice to talk about the movies you saw this year regardless of when they came out! It's an eclectic list and I'm fascinated by all of them, thanks for sharing 💜
I had a fight with my mom. I got into my room and I saw your video. Thank you for uploaded in this time! Your videos always make me feel better after a rough day. Specially today.
Ah I know the feeling! I hope you’re okay 🫶🏻
i struggle to find film recs on the internet that aren't like the same 50-100 movies re-arranged so this is ideal for me! we seem to have similar taste. happy new year :P
until I read that subtitle about the camera and lights, i fully thought that it was an intentional style choice and I was absolutely loving it hahaha. my letterboxd watchlist got a bit longer today, thankyouuu
Finally watched Possession this year and it was great. I love female-centric horror/fantasy/art house. Besides Possession, the best I've seen so far would be The Red Shoes, The Company of Wolves, Suspiria, Night of the Demons, Picnic At Hanging Rock, Spring, Hausu, Paperhouse, Angel's Egg, Possibly in Michigan, Meshes of the Afternoon, Blue Velvet, Run Lola Run, Labyrinth, Night of the Hunter, Daisies, Ghost World, and Grey Gardens. Definitely need to see Helter Skelter and Innocence next.
I swear the movie Possession has been following me around everywhere I go. Especially that still from the subway. That film is just there and it's saying you must watch me. So I'm so glad that there's a site where it is streaming so I can see it.
I was so tempted by the response to it that I bought it from Amazon😂 Definitely unforgettable..
@@Evute02 I also almost bought a physical copy from Amazon bc I was so desperate to find it 😭
MovieBoxPro
LOVE the setup and the vibe of this video, it really coordinates with the content of your channel, and it's just so cool
It's been a few days and i still keep thinking of this intro. So stunning, feels like the intro to a movie I would love

Yeah, sure... omg... how cute.
@@ozymandiasultor9480 tf are u on about
Love the video! I also loved the new video format as well! Felt like a chat with your friend about their favorite movies
Doom Generation! Yes. I'm lucky I saw it in the 90s and Amy's outfits had such an influence on my style. LOVED the checkered motel set.
love the casual vibe. you show more passion at moments, it was cool.
i just love everything about the artistry that you put into your videos
Please keep making more of these videos, I really enjoyed listening to you talk about the movies you have seen. Sending lots of love from Colombia
can't wait to check those out! I love the visuals you have going on this video btw, really cool setting and lighting
added every single film i haven’t seen to my tbw on letterboxd. I’d love to see more videos like this!
Final Girl what are your thoughts on “The Neon Demon”?
Sadly disappointing imo 🫤 (lol not that you asked for it, ik 😝)
I would love a video on innocence and why you didnt like the ending! Your channel is awesome, happy new year!
I loveee your video essays and your taste! I am doing my master thesis about feminity in feminist phenomenology and your videos have been a huge inspiration for me. Also I just wish to be friends with you and talk about movies lol. Keep doing what you are doing pleaaaseee ❤
Incredible picks!!! Possession is one of my favorites. And omg yes innocence, I would love a full video on that. You are also so striking!!
♡ favorite channel, just followed you on letterboxd
OMG I'M IN LOVE, you're just so pretty and everything about you is soooo cool. And then I found out you filmed Dakota Warren??? you've got a fan for life
I'm finally properly getting into films, but it's hard finding ones I actively enjoy. However, you've kind of hit the nail on the head when it comes to that. I watch your video essays, think I'll like the movie, watch it and be right. Always taking your recommendations over anyone else's. I love beautiful films and when they actually have something to say. Even just weird shots and stuff. Thanks for talking about movies I like ^-^
This is such a good list. Its half movies i love and half movies ive been meaning to watch for a while and you just gave me the kick in the butt i needed to watch them haha
First of all, HELLO! So great to see the face behind the amazing work.
just discovered your channel and brb while i watch every movie mentioned and then every single video on your channel
ngl I couldn't really focus on the video because I kept on being mesmerized by your beauty 😭😭😭😭💗💗💗 I loved all your recommendations also "drop dead gorgeous" is one of my favorites!! and yes it is so underrated😭😭 I tell all my friends to watch it whenever I can 🤣
Thanks so much for talking about these movies! I was already interested in movies you made vids about previously (especially malena) but I'll surely check out other movies as well. Innocence from your presentation seems haunting, not sure if it's because of it's style or if the movie itself will also feel like that. It's always interesting to see your views on subjects I honestly didn't know as much as I should have. It's sad to see some comments made by guys clearly not understanding the message. I'm a guy as well and just wanted to thank you for the content that you make, it's really awesome and makes me see things from different perspective.
you’re so prettyyyyyy!!!💘
i’m OBSESSED with this video setup
Thank your for the list. I always watch your essays to get some ideas what movies to watch. :)
love your approach and film recommendations
About your light, it's probably not a cinema light, so if it has fluctuation and the hertz is just not adjusted to your camera settings, try to change your shutter speed for it to align with the flicker, and later you can get a video light, they're more expensive but continuous so no flicker :)
Up!!! Great tips
I started to look for women focused media last years. made by women for women and is challenging but rewarding. in 2024 i watched lesson in chemistry with brie larson and god what amazing feminist series.
innocence 2004 - wanted to watch a few times, will be first in my list to watch
possession (with isabel)
santa sangre
Doom Generation
Buffalo 66
Malena - loved this movie as a kid and your essay too.
Disappointment boulevard future ari aster
Beau Is Afraid (2023)
Drop dead gorgeous - is one of my all time fav girl movies. It's unbelievable funny and milliard dollars cast. gonna rewatch.
scott piligrim - i didn't liked this movie.
coyote ugly - watched as a teen.
sooooo happy this vid got recommended to me!!! you are also such a cool girl and you listed amazing and cool movies
First of your videos I’ve seen. Sold on the Innocence shout out. Love that flick! Highly recommend checking out the director’s follow up Evolution which is kind of a spiritual sequel. Gotta still watch the rest of this video but I had to subscribe after you mentioned Valerie and her Week of Wonders too. And now you’re at Doom Generation and I’m seeing you’ve got a video on Daisies. That’s it! I’m a fan!
Love the filming set up, you are adorable! Great list too!!
Omg I’m so glad you loved drop dead gorgeous, it’s one of my absolute faves
I’m so excited to watch Innocence (I previously never heard of it) and now finally have the push to watch Doom Generation. Thank you for the suggestions. ✨
Drop Dead Gorgeous was one of my favorite movies growing up, I love hearing that someone else adores it the way I do.
Your outfit is soo cute too btw ✨
DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!!! Me and my closest are all obsessed with this and have been since it was released on DVD back in 1999. We watched it at my bachelorette party a few weeks ago and god it takes me back. Thank you for mentioning it 💙
I watched Betty Blue on your recommendation and I've been obsessed with it ever since. You're so cool ❤
i love your video essays, very thorough and thoughtful. its nice to get a woman's perspective on cinema and you have helped me open my eyes to different movies
The work you do is really important as someone also wanting to make films and comics
I love the lighting
Innocence is mesmerizing. I was obsessed with it, I wanted to wander around in their woods, and play outside all day, and do ballet. But nothing else.
I am so excited to comment on your list. Almost every movie you mentioned are some of my absolute favorites. I am totally fangirling but i absolutely love your channel so much.
I found the Doom Generation by accident when I was fourteen and I was watching h b o at like two in the morning. I remember the credits started for it and I thought it looked familiar. I could have sworn i had seen the entire credit sequence before. But nonetheless I kept it on and watched the entire movie which was one of the most organic movie watching experiences I've ever had in my life because I had absolutely no idea what I was looking at because there had not been a trailer or anything. The entire movie was nothing but brand new elements thrown out at me every which way. I loved it immediately and wanted to watch all of his films, which I eventually did after I was able to find the others at video stores l o l...
I wanted to give you a mini favorite list in case some of my favorite movies were ones you hadnt seen.
The first one is Diabolique. There's a 1955 version and a 1996 version. Both of them are very good but I love the 90s version bc of the clothes and film noir vibe despite its cheesiness lol.
The next is Young Adult with Charlize Theron. I love this movie bc much like you said drop dead gorgeous was your "made especially for you" movie, I've always felt that way about Young Adult. Then you have to watch Freeway with Reese Witherspoon. It's one of the absolute best movies I've ever seen. It's like if Pulp Fiction had Elle Woods as a lead character.
Last but not least is Jennifer's Body. People make fun of it but it's sooooo good. So fun too bc all of its high school glory. If you haven't seen any of these I highly recommend setting aside some time to watch. I am super excited bc all of these movies are seriously some I totally wish I could watch again for the first time. I hope you can see some of these if you haven already and please let me know if you have and if you plan to watch any that you haven't. Thanks for the awesome content❤
What camera/lighting did you use? It looks so beautiful 🌟
Innocence has a "brother" called Evolution. It's similar, but from a male point of view. They are very interesting together.
Sidenote: Lucile Hadzihalilovic is married to Gaspar Noe. While this shouldn't matter, my small brain tries to contrast these together. I don't like Noe's films. I always feel they have an interesting idea behind them, but they fail in execution. The exception being Enter the Void... which was co-writtern with her.
I can easily recommend Climax.
There's definitely some great scenes, such as the dance at the very beginning, and the soundtrack is very good, but there's also parts of the movie I find tedious, because of directorial choices, such as when we follow Selva down the corridor and it feels very overacted, but I can't really blame the actor, as it feels like she was expected to make it look good without any real chance of doing so. Also, the movie is predictable in the wrong places. @@moeezS
@@AkiVainioI love that movie. The overacting felt intentional. It felt more like a theatrical performance
You’re stunning💗💗⭐️
Thank-you. Some beautiful and interesting choices, in some cases bringing personal memories flooding back, remembering the stages of my life, when I first watched some of these films. I really enjoyed to learn how these movies made you feel, also your analysis and perspectives are really next level. Making me wonder if I need to watch some back again.
When you mentioned your a huge Joan Jett fan , I started to smile and , not sure i have stopped smiling yet.
Thanks for sharing this video.
Films in order (not by ranking)
-Helter Skelter
-Innocent
-Possession
-Holy Blood "Santa Sangre"
-Doom Generation
-Buffalo 66
-Malena
-Beau is Afraid
-Drop Dead Gorgeous
-Scott Pilgrim vs The World
-Coyote Ugly
I love seeing these recommendations and your videos give me movies to add to my watchlist! But a movie I think you'd enjoy a lot is "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night" It has a lot of the themes about femininity and I would die to see a video of your opinion on it!
Also sidenote! your makeup/face reminds me of Vampira
i liked the style of movie.
Thank you! Probably gonna watch all these movies now tbh 😂
I just watched Beau Is Afraid because of this video, paused the vid to watch it so I can come back and continue watching the video, I feel like there was a before me and an after me after watching that movie. I loved it so much, it hit me so gutturally, it's my favorite film of his now, and right after I tracked down all his shorts too, so now I've watched everything he's made. Thank you for this :D
Also Drop Dead Gorgeous is my fav comedy of all time
I like the bathtub setting. Isabelle Adjani is also pretty good in Luc Besson's Subway. A stylish 80s film which is set in the Paris metro
Not something I watched last year but earlier this month, I finally watched the new Suspiria and when I say, it has been so long since I was so completely obsessed about a film. I was kinda expecting based on what I read, that I'm probably not going to get it and that it's going to be super convoluted but I didn't have that problem at all?? Of course there's ton of layers and symbolism (there's SO MUCH in this film) that's what makes it exciting but yeah, I don't think it was as chaotic as some people make it out to be.
I was expecting it to be gorgeous based on the stills I saw all over internet but oh my god, it's so beautiful. The styling, the set design, the choreography, THE SOUNDTRACK. And all the actors, even the side characters that you maybe see a few times in a background, have so much personality. I just know that I'm going to watch this so many times and each time notice different details.
After I finished watching I spend a few hours reading essays about it and listening to interviews and it just made me love it even more and respect all the people who worked on it. You can just see the care that was put in it. The only thing that's killing me is that we're probably never getting the sequels. One can always hope that it becomes cult classic in the future.
Sorry for such a long comment :DD I just get so excited every time I think about it and I thought you could also like it.
And I'm definitely going to watch Innocence
Thank you for your list, it's really great! Reminded me to watch Doom Generation, i was so shocked by Mysterious Skin i saw this year (great great film, very sweet in fact), I forgot about his other films lol.
This year i saw quite a few film, but Ang Lee's Eat Drink Man Woman went right into my all time favorites. It's so much fun, it's smart, it's sweet and the editing is so good... I highly recommend it!
every day i come to the internet in search of something that will blow my mind. now that youve exposed me to these films im sure my mind will be blown as i watch them. thank you for interesting content
Ive still not seen Scott Pilgrim (and have no plan to ever see it) and was excited to hear your take on it. I only discovered your channel recently and your analysis of several films so far has intrigued me enough to watch them (Malena in particular). So I found it a bit sad that you sold yourself short by thinking you had nothing to add. Either way, you have impeccable taste, in my humble opinion.
Really like this type of video because I love your recommendations.
Ahhh im so glad you talked about Drop dead gorgeous i love this movie and also havent seen anyone talk about it
I liked this the powers gone out / pooping with a flashlight vibe
This video was in recommended for me. I clicked because the thumbnail looked like one of the prettiest images I've ever seen.
I watched Innocence and will be pondering it for a while. Thank you for the recommendation, the film was beautifully done.
Can you say where you found some of these? Helter Skelter looks amazing, but i cant find anything other than the manson family movies
I thank you for your videos that I got to know so many films and now too and I love how you make videos and they are pretty as you 💞
I had also been monitoring the Disappointment Blvd Wikipedia page and waiting desperately for any updates to a new Ari Aster feature 😂 Definitely went in a different direction than his other films but great nonetheless
Adore all the films you listed and with them in mind I humbly recommend Sympathy for lady vengeance, the lure, wizards, and the fall if you haven't already seen these I think you would like them ✨
Adding all these movies to my watch list! Speaking of beautiful movies, A long time ago I put a movie on my netflix cue because the cover art got me and I kind of just left it there for a really long time. Once I finally watched it I don't know how I had lived that long without it. I would highly suggest checking it out if your into like, weird fantasy, storytelling vibes.
The Fall (2006) by Tarsem Singh. Also, Lee Pace is so beautiful in it.
Can’t wait for your possession video it’s gonna be a banger I watched that movie back in the summer of 2022 and up until now a year and half later I still can’t stop discussing it watching it it’s just one of those films.
is helter skelter based on perfect blue?
These are great selections. Have you seen Miss Lonely (1985)? Directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi, I feel like it would definitely be up your alley, along with quite a few of his other films.
Great video !!!!! Love your set also
i don't know if you keep it private or simply dont think to add it to your socials ,however i just wanted to ask if you'd be willing to share your pinterest💓
I really liked i believe im unicorns (2014) i barely see anyone talk about it online but i think it's actually a very good movie. It has its flaws but the cinematography is stunning and the story is heartbreaking
Did you record this in the bathroom because of good acoustics? Love the casual vibes of this video.
I feel like you would really enjoy the film A Tale of Two Sisters (2003). It’s absolutely gorgeous and utterly haunting. One of my favorites i watched last year along with Orlando and Marie Antoinette.
Some of my favorite movies made your list, and maybe some new favorites to check out!
Although I love all of your film essays this was also excellent. It's just nice to have film recommendations. I have to track down helter skelter somewhere cause I can't find it. But yeh I have put down all of your recommendations and will watch them at...some point.
possession is so so incredible ive thought about it months after the initial watch.
hi! what do you think about animal cruelty in jodorowsky films?
Obsessed with the bathtub set up
girllll perfect video only one thing, i think autocorrect got you on the timestamp for malena bc for real that film is most def not melena
Absolutely love Possesion, need to check out the rest of these
can i ask where do you watch these movies?? 'cause i can find any page that has all of your recommendations 💔
Love seeing your face here! < 3
I really dig this upload. Bathtub, spotlight- I dig it
Żuławski, Jodorowsky, Ninagawa, and Araki all in one video? This is my new favorite channel.
A great video, I'm subscribed.
I look forward to seeing more of your reviews.
Thankyou for some new recommendations!!! ❤
Pleaseee do a full video on innocence!!!
Well, you won me over with your brilliant essay on Lolita!
However, seeing you film from your bathtub with this video completely cinched the deal! 🤗 I’m a fan of your creativity and your smart content!
omg i love drop dead gorgeous but like no one talks abt it!!
