  • PURISTS SCROLL AWAY NOW- This video is a bit of a hack job but due to corrupt memory card and a crashed memory card I had to do a quick how to to coincide with adding the cones to my web site.
Bob's beast fleye is an iconic pattern and it pains me that I "cheat" to make them( Well most of the time anyway).
Nothing will beat a well tied beast with thread dams and prime 6 Inch bucktail. But for those that don't have tails that hair that's just perfect for a hollow tie keep reading...
Being based in the eu getting prime bucktail consistently was hard and has become even harder since 2020.
Plus being a commercial tyer I'm always on the lookout to make tying a tying process quicker.
Enter the "Beast Cheats" a series of custom made cones to replace the thread dam and control the flair of the hollow tied bucktail when you tie on mono extension . Using these cones it's easy to get just the right angle to create that big profile using sub par 3.5/ 4 inch hair.
I have kept promising to launch these but I wanted them right . First they were way too big then they went way too small and too thick. Then I wanted to keep them small as possible but made the cones to thin and fragile. After many many goes(and tests ) I have finally found the sweet spot, and almost a year later than I wanted they will be hitting the website at the end of this week as a set of 6 cones enough to tie eight 9/10 inch beasts .
then in a few weeks will be offer individual cones so you can mix and match and adjust the profile as you see fit.

I am curious what the advantage is with these cones? Why isn't a thread dam just as productive?
Are these being used to use less thread?
I am not knocking this, just curious if i am missing something?
    Thank you!
