great and informative report! It is a shame how Qantas' standards have decreased so much over the years, especially the food offering. To put it in perspective, you receive more food on Emirates economy compared to Qantas business class (I've flown both) Hopefully they'll improve in the future as there are a lot of quality airlines out there (like SQ/EK as you mentioned). Well presented there. I came close to purchasing Qantas Club membership, as I flew the airline for Defence travel when I was in Reserves, but found it not worth while as I did not fly enough in a civilian capacity with Qantas. I would ask how you would get along without it, but think that a single annual expense is a better idea than having to pay several buying food at the airport? I do remember some years ago when the family flew to Auckland, NZ from (origin Adelaide) where Air NewZealand used the DC-10 as their flagship, and returned using Qantas in a Boeing 707, where there were long waits for meals, and service. It seems nothing has changed that way, after nearly 50 years (1974)..!
Watching this is the only way I will experience Qantas as I refuse to fly with this airline. Was once on the world stage but now a disgraceful company.
The treatment of staff is so deeply disappointing. A painful contrast to the $24 million to someone who seemed to me to not understand what Australians value. Never thought I’d see Qantas in such a sad state. I’m watching with interest as others involved in that damaging time look to their own payouts.

Qantas economy is a hard pass for sure, even business is not so good anymore. SQ beats them hands down. Thankful that we get A350's with SQ. Another great review, I really enjoy your content. xx
Great review man and that sunrise landing was amazing! Sad to say but Qantas service these days has definitely fallen below average, which is so sad to see what our national carrier has turned into.
You should get what you pay for , unfortunately that’s not always the case with QF . They charge premium prices for a sub premium product . I fly SYD to the UK regularly , QF has not been an option for a long time , they definitely are not “ the spirit of Australia “ anymore .
I prefer the Qantas inflight meals than that of the Emirates’ due to taste. As to inflight service standards with QF, it’s hit and miss, sometimes it can get rough - senior FAs like to play mummy sometimes. I’ve been flying with QF since 1998, and Qantas manages to surprise me in one way or the other every time I fly with them. Aidan, Singapore Airlines is overrated, so is Emirates, if you fly with all the airlines for years and years across different cabins, you will notice something really odd - one slightly prefers Qantas after all.
My dads a Qantas pilot sorry that you didn’t have a good flight of course all flights are different but it’s really something you should be able to expect you can have a good flight each time I hope you have a good flight next time!

If I can offer a tip, I’d suggest trimming the review down to about 20 minutes, by editing & tightening some of the spoken content. Excellent video capture… 👍
Clearly things on a Qantas A380 Haven't changed. Rubbish IFE and tiny food service. Plus, as I had a scotch & Dry for a pre dinner service, I wasn't allowed another alcoholic drink with my dinner. The IFE was so slow and pixilated. Over all, it's a massive NO for me.
That laksa looked so good that I am going out to find some for lunch! Yeah, an average unexciting flight., but it got you there reasonably intact it would seem. Being an old man, I am grateful for small mercies these days! Season's greetings and all the best for 2024, mate
Loved it again. Keep smashing these videos. I'm horrified that Qantas has gone downhill like this. I went on their A330 in 2018 for a holiday in Hawaii, as my aunt and uncle were Qantas club members we were allowed in the Qantas business lounge in Sydney and Honolulu. Qantas stuffed me with food literally back then. The portions have really come down from watching. But really Aidan give yourself a break and have an awesome Xmas and a happy new year!

Amazing review! I recently flew Virgin Australia from Brisbane to Perth return. The service was amazing. And Virgin Australia is now my favourite airline lol Sorry to hear about your flight. However I’m glad that the A380 has made a comeback nevertheless 👍

It's certainly quite questionable why Qantas didn't update the seats & IFE in economy when refurbishing the rest of the cabins in the A380s. If you use the remote its a bit more bearable.
I don’t know why everyone is saying Qantas is now worse than Singapore Airlines. This is not a recent issue as Singapore Airlines has always been better than Qantas.
I have a case against Qantas in NCAT right now so that really says my thought about Qantas. It's unfortunate I'll stick with them for a while before I consume up all the QFF points but otherwise I won't fly with them anymore.

Thanks Aidan for another trip review. I did the same flight back in October 2022 after my F1 visit and Malaysia trip. As I agree with a few things I flew in economy and had no problems with my flight. Food was fine, staff were friendly, the entertainment screen worked faultlessly. Yeah Singapore might have the edge on our national carrier but I prefer my loyalty, status and saving a few extra dollars using points. Thou I did the Rome-Sydney BC in August aboard the Dreamliner and it was perfect.
Another great detailed video Aidan, well done and nice work. Agree with your observations in the SG QF Business Lounge, it always has been pretty good. I guess they did not replace the IFE when they replaced the seats. My experience has usually been good with the QF IFE. Hopefully they have fixed it on that plane by now. Was nice that the seat beside you was empty, always a good thing if this happens. After the lunch you enjoyed, was surprised how much food you then consumed later! 😂😂😂 Congratulations on the Views, 5K and counting, with 3.65K Subscribers, a great result and well deserved.
Qantas hasn't been able to match SIA in terms of onboard service for the past 30 years. What you do get with Qantas however is to fly with the world's very best pilots in control of the plane.
I lived in Australia for 15 years and Laksa was very popular in the 2000s (noughties). It must have been hot and humid in Singapore, eh. I used to fly QF a lot, including the A380 to LAX and back from SYD. Comfortable, but boring, you hardly feel it move and not the most handsome plane to look at.
Did the same route in 1996 on a 744 in economy then on the Brisbane with flight number QF52. 747-200. The service was amazing then with real porcelain main course dish, metal cutlery, menu cards, Australian crew that were so down to Earth and friendly. The seats were also a lot more comfortable in economy back then. Still have the menu cards after all these years. There was no individual TV screens but the crew handed out playing cards and games and there was a movie shown on the main screen., for anyone interested. The crew came round every hour with drinks and you could ask for Tim Tams, biscuits and alcoholic drinks without judgement. What an airline Qantas used to be. Today I dread to think.
31 inches of legroom on an A380 is crazy 😂They need to refurbish these A380's to bring them in-line with the industry standard of 32 inches. Their Dreamliners have it..
Qantas A380 Y IFE was a joke for me too it was pretty useless for me QF1 24 hours flight to London, it was due to Qantas chose not to refurbish the Y class except the seat padding. On the way back on QF2 I was in the refurbished J class and all the seat features were spot on.😮
Yep, good summary. Pretty average, but wasn't bad. I'm taking the same flight in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping that an upgrade comes through, but they never do, so I'll be in the back row. I flew over to Europe at the end of November in Qantas Premium Economy. It was better than economy. Thank goodness I got it on a sale price. But in my travels, I flew Entebbe to Dubai in Premium Economy on Uganda Airways. It was fabulous. The food was sensational - the chunk of beef tasted as if it was fresh off the cow. The crew were professional, and friendly at the same time. The soft product was typical of business class on Qantas. If Qantas wants to win back support of the public they have got a long way to go!
I flew on QF1 at the end of October '23 & couldn't get the touch screen to work & had to resort to the remote. Even then it was inaccurate zipping past what I selected & having to have a few goes at the buttons to get what I wanted to select. I understand using bamboo cutlery but compared to other premium airlines they are next to useless. Having no tray for the food is also a huge negative. I flew out on a Sunday arriving in London the next morning. By Thursday morning I was showing 2 very strong red lines on the Covid test. So, either Blighty welcomed me with open arms and a dose of Covid that I had dodged for 4 years in Oz or the drop down table had Covid remnants on it and as you touch it to lower it & your food then sits on it I could've got it that way. Unfortunately I booked with barely 3 months notice through a travel agency interlocked with Qantas, I had no choice. Had I had a choice it would've been Singapore Airlines as they are my go to carrier. Within Australia Qantas is not too bad, just dearer, but long haul overseas they are well down the list. It may be the safest airline in the world, I'll give them that, but the product in general gets a 7/10 from me & that was my second intercontinental flight with Qantas since 1988 & that too was quite a story.

I’m seeing this a lot with the one world airlines, they’ve Banned Josh Cahill from Qatar, BA is an absolute joke now, my parents flew with them recently and they left their bags in Athens.
Can not agree more. qf a380 is not what I think it is. Seats are narrow, entertainment system is poor in terms of content and interface response. The headset is connected to the arm rest taking up the space already tide. A bad long haul flight experience with the plane. Pos: the flight is much much stable than the other smaller jets
Nothing is as it was but Qantas still has an exceptional safety standard and top pilots to fly the plane. Surely getting there in one piece is more important than the glossy stuff humans demand. Hopefully 2024 they will regain some of the comforts to make the trip more comfortable
Qantas recently screwed up my booking, first cancelling my flight 4 hours before departure, then rebook it for the next day, same schedule, but literally forgot to rebook the connecting flight for me go fly from HK to Nanjing airport, so that night they told me to book hotels and another flight which cost me close to 500AUD, now they just got reply from them after 4 weeks stating they will only compensate me for 300AUD and no more! Wtf is this Qantas? How could you tell me to pay for hotel and flight on my own using my own money and providing me with 0 help? Now won't even compensate me for my time and financial losses? Can ACCC do anything about this?
Oh! Not to mention they lost my luggage for 4 days! Their reason was that I didn't board the plane from Melbourne to Hong Kong, then how the hell was I in HK airport then?
Great review. The last time I flew on Qantas was 15 years ago. I found the service to be very good. The staff was very helpful. The airport staff at Sydney airport was also first class. I look forward to returning to see Queenslannd. All the best. ⛱️🛬

Qantas has declined a lot. I'll move to emirates, etihad, Singapore and delta
Be careful with Emirates though, as they often partner with Qantas and it doesn't always tell you that when you book you end up on a Qantas plane

LA-sydney is the best economy for A380. free drinks bar and everything

The service was amazing then with real porcelain main course dish, metal cutlery, menu cards, Australian crew that were so down to Earth and friendly. The seats were also a lot more comfortable in economy back then. Still have the menu cards after all these years. There was no individual TV screens but the crew handed out playing cards and games and there was a movie shown on the main screen., for anyone interested. The crew came round every hour with drinks and you could ask for Tim Tams, biscuits and alcoholic drinks without judgement. What an airline Qantas used to be. Today I dread to think.
31 inches of legroom on an A380 is crazy 😂They need to refurbish these A380's to bring them in-line with the industry standard of 32 inches. Their Dreamliners have it..
Qantas A380 Y IFE was a joke for me too it was pretty useless for me QF1 24 hours flight to London, it was due to Qantas chose not to refurbish the Y class except the seat padding. On the way back on QF2 I was in the refurbished J class and all the seat features were spot on.😮
Yep, good summary. Pretty average, but wasn't bad. I'm taking the same flight in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping that an upgrade comes through, but they never do, so I'll be in the back row.
I flew over to Europe at the end of November in Qantas Premium Economy. It was better than economy. Thank goodness I got it on a sale price. But in my travels, I flew Entebbe to Dubai in Premium Economy on Uganda Airways. It was fabulous. The food was sensational - the chunk of beef tasted as if it was fresh off the cow. The crew were professional, and friendly at the same time. The soft product was typical of business class on Qantas.
If Qantas wants to win back support of the public they have got a long way to go!
I flew on QF1 at the end of October '23 & couldn't get the touch screen to work & had to resort to the remote. Even then it was inaccurate zipping past what I selected & having to have a few goes at the buttons to get what I wanted to select. I understand using bamboo cutlery but compared to other premium airlines they are next to useless. Having no tray for the food is also a huge negative. I flew out on a Sunday arriving in London the next morning. By Thursday morning I was showing 2 very strong red lines on the Covid test. So, either Blighty welcomed me with open arms and a dose of Covid that I had dodged for 4 years in Oz or the drop down table had Covid remnants on it and as you touch it to lower it & your food then sits on it I could've got it that way. Unfortunately I booked with barely 3 months notice through a travel agency interlocked with Qantas, I had no choice. Had I had a choice it would've been Singapore Airlines as they are my go to carrier. Within Australia Qantas is not too bad, just dearer, but long haul overseas they are well down the list. It may be the safest airline in the world, I'll give them that, but the product in general gets a 7/10 from me & that was my second intercontinental flight with Qantas since 1988 & that too was quite a story.

I’m seeing this a lot with the one world airlines, they’ve Banned Josh Cahill from Qatar, BA is an absolute joke now, my parents flew with them recently and they left their bags in Athens.

Can not agree more. qf a380 is not what I think it is. Seats are narrow, entertainment system is poor in terms of content and interface response. The headset is connected to the arm rest taking up the space already tide. A bad long haul flight experience with the plane. Pos: the flight is much much stable than the other smaller jets

Nothing is as it was but Qantas still has an exceptional safety standard and top pilots to fly the plane. Surely getting there in one piece is more important than the glossy stuff humans demand. Hopefully 2024 they will regain some of the comforts to make the trip more comfortable
Qantas recently screwed up my booking, first cancelling my flight 4 hours before departure, then rebook it for the next day, same schedule, but literally forgot to rebook the connecting flight for me go fly from HK to Nanjing airport, so that night they told me to book hotels and another flight which cost me close to 500AUD, now they just got reply from them after 4 weeks stating they will only compensate me for 300AUD and no more! Wtf is this Qantas? How could you tell me to pay for hotel and flight on my own using my own money and providing me with 0 help? Now won't even compensate me for my time and financial losses? Can ACCC do anything about this?
Oh! Not to mention they lost my luggage for 4 days! Their reason was that I didn't board the plane from Melbourne to Hong Kong, then how the hell was I in HK airport then?

Great review. The last time I flew on Qantas was 15 years ago. I found the service to be very good. The staff was very helpful. The airport staff at Sydney airport was also first class. I look forward to returning to see Queenslannd. All the best. ⛱️🛬
