It’s thanks to you that I decided to dive into TH-cam and start telling my own stories, so it was an honour to return the favour by bringing you into my world of music production. Now if TH-cam doesn’t work out for you, I see potential for a music career :D - Bartholomew
I loved her presence in this magnificent video. It even made me cry, to see how genuine and how sweet she is, and your relationship. I think our parents are a huge part of how we turn out to be, and it's just so beautiful to see that. So thank you for your videos and for what you do! (And the song... wow.) ❤
I completely agree. Your parents are amazing. I have a narcissistic mother who could care less about me and a father who abandoned me, but seeing how supportive yours are is amazing to see.
I have been bedridden for 7 years and I became a painter because my therapist told me to start painting my feelings. And I became addicted to it, and now I paint mostly endless patterns and I need it everyday to melt my physical pain into it. One day an ex friend told me like laughing that I should relax about my illness that I might become the next “FRIDA”. I was sooo offended. I didn’t know why, maybe because I felt like she was sentencing me to never heal or I was offended out of respect of Frida’s and her suffering.? I still don’t know. Anyways, Thank you for sharing Frida’s story dear Nathan. Ere un ser de luzzz y te sigo hace años creo que desde que me enfermé. 💎🙏🏻
Just looked at your channel, your work is beautiful. It does not matter if people like your work or not, what is most important is that you allow yourself the freedom to be creative. ❤🩹
How ironic your "friend" tried to offend you by warning you you might become one of art histories most famous, celebrated and unique women. What an absolute FOOL. I guess that person feels super threatened by the fact that a disability, accident or longer stretch of disabling convalescence IS transformative to anyone experiencing it. There's definately a before and after, and there's no question dealing with specifically chronic pain requires a type of core strength of soul to endure, that sets you apart from others. Frida found her unique voice and wouldn't ever be silenced once she did. She also didn't care much what other people thought of her work, nor about fame or the famous. Bc once you lived through that, life is way too short for bullshit. Keep painting any way you feel rings true to you and helps you get through your current pain, and the rest of your life regardless of health, idiots who fear your experience and honesty about it, and drop the weak and shallow commenters to the wayside. I wish you love and healing and solace abd joy in your work to articulate your voice and personal perspective. You owe nobody an explanation, they either get it or they don't, but either way, ditch the disrespectful. Frieda was badass before the word was even invented! ❤️
@@gnarbeljo8980 wow thank you for your insight, very powerful. I actually had to cut all my friends and even family because this life I am living has no room for anything but love.
NATHANIEL I HAD NO IDEA YOU COULD SING LIKE THAT!!! Wowwww!! This is definitely one of my FAVOURITE videos you've ever done. I loved learning more about Frida & hearing your thoughts about her and her life. Also as someone who has gone through periods of my life being bedridden, I really really appreciate you explaining that you were in no way trying to trivialize that and that you recognized you couldn't really replicate that in an accurate way. Just so much thought & care put into this video and it really shows!
As a woman, I want to thank you for doing such an excellent job at representing such a strong and influential role model, to a lot of us women (and not only). The song was *beautiful.*

The fact that you gave credit to the fact that it IS a huge challenge to be ill and have to stay in bed almost motionlessly is very admirable and I, as a person who went through cancer (and who is an artist also) and also had to stay in bed for very long periods of time being in pain and discomfort, feel a really strong connection to Frida as a person, a woman in an unhappy love situation, a creator, etc. And omg, the part where you did her makeup and everything! I love that men nowadays have less "not being masculine" issues and are more open about transformations like this. Loved it! Thank you for being so cool with it and not being afraid of experimenting in such a way! And of course thank you for this video! P.S. The song is fire!

Man, Nathaniel: your mom is such a special woman! Her heart is so loving and big, you can feel it right through the video screen
I don't know what else to say other than WOW. You continue to become one of the most fascinating men on the planet. Your empathic interest in Kahlo is magnetic for me. I discovered her work at a major exhibition at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary art amost 50 years ago & I have been obsessed with her ever since. I am an artist & I am stunned by how deep the well Frieda draws from is.
first video of yours i've come across. this was so so so beautiful. especially the part with your mom and the makeup. femininity was, i think, a big part of frida's work. she challenged the traditional limits of it and flowed with androgyny and masculinity. the fact that you brought in a woman in your life to help you connect with this particular part of frida, just felt beautiful. it made my heart glow. this whole video did.
that makes me cry and remember that your soul born and feel good from the womb of your pain , also your passion and creativity born from your darkness and pain
I just wanted to say as a failed artist who gave up on painting you telling Frida's story reawakened and remided me why i wanted to paint as a person who has over protective parents not allowd to go of on my own and think for my self basically a prisinor in my own home i'm happy to say i will paint again even tho my father hates my paintings for being abstract and not realistic its my expression and feelings and i want to explore that and lern who i am as a person and to inspire and bring emotion to my peaces. So thank you for making this vidio.
Okay HANDS DOWN your best thumbnail ever!! I love this series on your channel. I always learn so much about these incredible figures and more about the human experience. I always end up adding something new to my own routine so thanks for this 🙏🏽💛
Wow I can really feel your heart in this video. Thanks for showing us what you see. The way you’re able to portray feelings and thoughts through video is beautiful. You’re curiosity is so pure, without an agenda, and I want to acknowledge you for that. It’s so rare. Thank you thank you! I think Frida would be touched.
What a stunning video! As a Mexican, I learned so much more than I ever knew originally about her. There was an undeniable sense of pride watching this. You told her story and portrayed her so beautifully. “Frida” will be stuck in my head all day ❤👏🏼🎉 🎨🖼
Your vulnerability in this one was so refreshing and inspiring! From the song to the completed look, really well done. I can only imagine she would be proud of this video too ☺️
Omg Nathaniel! You can sing!! You definitely have a talent for music, please continue pursuing it I beg of you. 20 mins flew by like 2 mins, it was that good. You looked so beautiful as Frida ❤️ Also this is probably the only channel I'll willingly watch a paid sponsor ad 😂
Apart from the exploration of Frida as woman and artist, which could never fail to inspire, the overriding impact this video had on me is how BEAUTIFUL you look as Frida... really appreciate your work x
Killing it as usual, Nathaniel!! That song was awesome! Thank you for including your mom’s perspective on how the desire for motherhood could have influenced Frida’s life/work. I agree with her in that this is an important aspect of women’s life and identity.
This video was amazing! I loved how comfortable you were to put on makeup so that you could truly embrace the essence of Frida. The song at the end was wonderful as well! You are such a talented person! 😄
Some of the best TH-cam content I’ve consumed in a long time. Incredible subject, wholesome family vibes and amazing creativity portrayed through your story telling and music. Truly great work Nathaniel! Thank you
I love this video so much. As a female artist, I look up to Frida so much. Thank you for immersing yourself in her existence and for taking the time to do the video as well as produce the song!
Nathaniel…this was really beautiful and powerful on so many levels. For me this was not just about Frida’s life but also about the beautiful connection between you and your mom. When your mom said, “I like that you are expressing fearlessly”, I actually got a little teary. So beautiful and so beautifully told by a brilliant storyteller. 💕 Thank you.
I often feel discouraged when my painting videos take months (and sometimes years), therefor there are endless videos in the works simultaneously, but hearing that your videos take long too, is super encouraging!
Yeees right? Same! Was also relieved that I'm not the slowest person on earth. However that also goes to show how much work Nathaniel must do on the regular. Not sure I'm built for that though..
@@Emerelle yes totally! This just sures me that the important thing is just to trust your own vision and not let trends and algorithms get into your head. For example: it might be important to post often but this doesn’t have to mean having to make tiktok phone videos, might mean that should find a way to hire more people to keep the quality matching the vision - or whatever the case. There is never just one way and it is encouraging to hear others go through similar things.
Same here. I get discouraged when my next episode take months to published, because something got in the way. When I force stuffs, I don't get inspiration so this was a good call!
This is touching me on so many levels in so many intensities. I am moved deeply by your love for human kind, by your emotional intelligence and the respect you are giving to every single of the persons who‘s day to day life you are creating on such a deep, thoughtful level. This one made me cry. Being a huge admirer of Frida Kahlo I just felt the urge to hug you all through the video and tell you how much this means to me. Thank you. ♥️
This was such a fun video. Loved the conversation with your mom, the Frida look, the guitar playing and painting in bed and also how you said “my Frida” when you found her painting at the museum. Frida is one of my muses. 💗💗
You are such a treasure Nate, and your parents are so wonderful, i wish everyone could have a family like you have, it's beautiful to watch you interact with each other, it made me a little emotional seeing you guys together!
You are like Frida Kahlo for TH-cam! Your videos are an actual art! Picking up right topic, information research, filming, editing, music! I can't even imagine how much effort you put into your masterpieces. I am happy to realize that such big company like Notion proposed you to advertise them!! That's another great win in your journey
Well done Nathaniel! I was obsessed with Frida in the late 80's when I was in art college and took a trip with my fellow filmmaking students to Mexico City for a month to take part in a film festival and show our work. I lived with a Mexican family who were the kindest hosts and treated me so beautifully, I will never forget them. One day a friend and I slipped away from our required viewing and classes at the CCC and went to visit Frida's house and spent hours there just looking around. She wasn't as well known then as she is today, and in fact, it still felt like Diego was more highly respected and her paintings were a just a hobby and not her life's calling. She most definitely lived - even after her death - in Diego's shadow until fairly recently. Very nice work telling her about us and allowing her to guide you in your creativity. Bravo!
Your mum is soooo wise. What she said about Frida not apologising for her appearance is one of the most powerful things about her. That was one of the most influential aspects of her life for me personally. I also love what your Mum said about you ‘expressing fearlessly’... in true Frida style
Love your confidence in sharing yourself with the world. Could really notice in the music that it’s something you are in the learning-process of, but you realise it’s not about that. It’s about the message. Great video, keep it up😁
He does it all gents. This was very moving. I thought her writings were very interesting and gave us an outlook on how she percieved the world. I think for this series of video it would be nice to have in the description the references (books, documentaries, etc.) you went through in case someone wants to dive in deeper into her caracter, story and art. Also would be interesting to preface why you're initially drawn to these each caracter, the impression ingrained in us from a distant memory and how research can maybe shift our perception. Can't wait to see who you portray next !
I love your facial expressions. When you speak you glow up with excitement about the topic and it’s really precious. Even when you talk to your mom, you looking up to her while talking is so precious ☺️
the overalls though! so many people wrote so many nice things, so i just want to add that this is beautiful and thank you for sharing parts of yourself with us!!
WOW! This was phenomenal. I aspire to tell stories the way you do. Bravo! Also, the song is beautiful and is giving me Jose Gonzalez meets Kings of Convenience. 👏🏽 LOVE!
I love this! I spent six months on bed rest when I was fifteen. It’s not easy… but a supportive family makes all the difference… I was lucky to have that. I don’t remember time being long… there was always something to do and someone to talk to. I have been enthralled with Frida since I saw a movie about her life quite a few years ago. Thank you for this video.. it’s been interesting seeing your journey of finding connection with her. Your mom did an amazing job on your makeup.
Thank you so much! I came to your channel to find out about living in Paris but I’ve discovered so much more. I never knew so much about Frida Kahlo. Love the song and I know she would as well.
Nathaniel I really appreciate you as a creator. Not once did I pause this video, that's how good it was, I enjoyed every second of it and was truly entertained. I appreciate how much you always try to add something new, you're a true innovator and I absolutely loved the performance at the end and the white overalls!
Wow! I shared this video with my friend Kaye who loves and looks up to Frida Kahlo. I teared up a little while watching, being so moved by the intent I picked up from the video. Great vlogs ensue, thank you!!! Also, I recognize the "Every Woman" theme in the song called "Frida"?. I feel like so many of us are Frida to include myself and Kaye.. and many more, you reading this, a man can be Frida... I blow kisses to all you "Frida's" out there Uncompromising on what you want, love and deem, taking every challenge and turning into gold, magic, life's passion and energy. Much love to each of you! Thank you Nathanial.
WOW! That song at the end of the video gave me goosebumps (in the best way you can think of!) It had a Beatles vibe to it. Beautiful. Love every bit of it!
Excellent....Its interesting to be proud of someone you have never met, but that is the way I feel after seeing this video. I have been following you for some time and I really appreciate how you have expanded your creativity. You are expressing yourself wonderfully...Keep up the good work...
Great work ! The naration and the depth which you went just understand how she felt what she went through, great work Nathan . And also the last line of the song , got me "Frida somewhere out there painting pictures of yourself " .
It's such a beautiful representation of her. I could have never got an insite of her life. Also the dungaree look, looks cool and different as u said that we gonna see something new. Love your work. And the song is awesome. Hope to see u release your music next time but with ur own voice in it. Love from India! 😇
Nathaniel, your view of our world and the arts is quite admirable. Watching you recreate patterns of Frida’s life and all the research that went into it was impressive. You even made the time to write her a song, which I absolutely love! Your mama is always so loving and willing. Keep being true to yourself. Thank you for sharing your work with us🤍
Nathaniel looks so good as Frida! I vote for this to become your go-to outfit from now on 😂 Seriously though, beautiful video and love to see how comfortable you are in your skin 🙌💛
Brilliant! She's impossible to cover in a video, doing this project and approaching her reality this way was really cool, smart and interesting to watch. Your mom did a great job, and you looked FAB as Frieda btw! You're such an interesting young man, it takes alot of guts, dedication and open minded curiosity to do these projects and videos. I'm sure they help your personal growth tremedously in surprizing ways, which is awsome, unique and worthwhile! Thanks for giving us a glimpse man. ❤️🙏
I couldn't agree more that your mom was meant to be a mom! ❤The loving way you and your parents are with each other is one of the many great things about your channel!
This was such a great video depicting what Frida went through and who she was! Thank you! What a beautiful song! I love how you fearlessly embodied her! 😊
This is a whole new level ! You are a gorgeous person and seeing u being more open and more comfortable with your own skin is heart worming , not everybody in such age get to know and experience themselves that early . Literally my fav TH-cam channel i hope you grow even bigger❤️ lastly u look stunning in drag 😍
I am always moved by your videos, you have no idea. However this one, in particular touched me emotionally. Just to imagine to live a life like Frida, it is insane. She was - and still is - a force of nature. Thank you for being one true inspiration Nathaniel!
This was beautiful, Nathaniel. I think you did an amazing job of talking about her life and her work, in such a respectful and honouring way. I also love how excited your mum was doing your makeup, she knows a lot about Frida! It was good to have that feminine perspective to explain things too
Nathaniel. I absolutely love this beautiful investigation into an artist and into her perspective and experiences. This is what we should say to young people who in their secondary school years when they question the value of art, philosophy, and multicultural studies. Love the song, also. What wonderful work this is.
Nathaniel, what a great video...excellent documentary and the song is BEAUTIFUL! Keep it up! ( I have been enjoying your work for several years and may be one of your older subs at 75) Great work!
The last two minutes made me feel incredibly proud of you Nathaniel, congratulations on such an amazing piece of art! I've been following your channel from the last 4 years or so, and since the beginning of 2022 I stopped using TH-cam altogether. As a very avid fan of Frida and her story, I was surprised you made something like this and for that I love you man. You put so much of yourself into every video you make. The reason I came back to your channel was because I felt a lil lost this couple of months and I knew I could use your sense of clarity and input. It freaking worked! Keep it up. PS. I'll have to binge watch all your Living like the Giants series!
The best part of this video, and your work in general, is not the actual content really but rather the genuine curiosity and enthusiasm that you possess and that come through so strongly. Keep up the great work!
Nathaniel! I’ve been watching you for a couple of years now and just wanted to say I am so proud of you! I adored this episode not only because you dived into Frida’s life but also, because of how far you’ve come. It was also heart warming to see your beautiful mom helping you out. Love the song too!🙂🤍
Frida Kahlo is my family’s favorite artist. I love how she used color and fashion to express herself. My dad was lucky to visit Coyoacan during his first time in Mexico and he got me a picture book of her work. My mom’s inspired by her persistence & creativity because she also lives with chronic pain and enjoys event planning. Please do more music in the future. Your song’s so good! 🥰
hey just wanted to let you know, the editing and style on this video feels beautifully authentic. and as a somewhat backhanded compliment admittedly, as you transitioned your content to include more visual effects, a handful of your previous videos had editing and transitions and effects that felt to me inauthentic. So, Im extremely happy to see you progress.
I discovered Freda while working on my degree in Psychology. Everything I learned was the microscope where I filtered each page of her biography. I was hooked. She captured my fascination. Thank you. This was most enjoyable.
In the middle of watching this vid. There's a 40 mins ads from mind valley that pops up. I didn't skipped. I'm glad I spent my night watching this incredible video of yours and that ad too! Thank you for your effort in putting this up. ✨
I can only imagine the effort that must have gone is producing this video and putting it together so wonderfully. Kudos Nathaniel. You amaze me with every new video you create. Something really cool about you singing in those overalls. Keep up the amazing work man. :)

I can only imagine she would be proud of this video too ☺️
Ok, now THIS was epic. Brought me to tears. Im a Huge fan of Frida. You did it so well... Frida would be proud👏👏
He has a very expressive face, especially his eyes.
I love this combination of her routine and your personality🌻
I also love what your Mum said about you ‘expressing fearlessly’... in true Frida style
omg this is so emotional. The work you are creating is only getting greater.
Even when you talk to your mom, you looking up to her while talking is so precious ☺️
the song at the end thoughhhhh Nathaniel look at youu this is so beautiful and inspiring and the song is a vibe
the overalls though!
so many people wrote so many nice things, so i just want to add that this is beautiful and thank you for sharing parts of yourself with us!!
Thanks!! As someone who has suffered from pain, after a foolish surgery when I was a teenager, I find Frida to be a powerful inspiration!
That little part you red out loud, so relatable from my experience with France people. Frida is gold.
Thank you so much! I came to your channel to find out about living in Paris but I’ve discovered so much more. I never knew so much about Frida Kahlo. Love the song and I know she would as well.
This has been my favorite in the series to date which says a lot because I have loved the other ones. Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world!
What a beautiful tribute to la reina. Thank you for doing this.
Nathaniel I really appreciate you as a creator. Not once did I pause this video, that's how good it was, I enjoyed every second of it and was truly entertained. I appreciate how much you always try to add something new, you're a true innovator and I absolutely loved the performance at the end and the white overalls!
You and your mum are the pure image of love and respect. Such a pleasure to see you together.
Beautifully said. All of it but especially "taking very challenge and turning into gold..."
WOW! That song at the end of the video gave me goosebumps (in the best way you can think of!) It had a Beatles vibe to it. Beautiful. Love every bit of it!
this is one of my favourite ones yet and touched me so much nathaniel!! and you have a beautiful voice 💜💜
Excellent....Its interesting to be proud of someone you have never met, but that is the way I feel after seeing this video. I have been following you for some time and I really appreciate how you have expanded your creativity. You are expressing yourself wonderfully...Keep up the good work...
Man. This. You. Having watched you grow from fledgling to now. .. thank you for your determination and all the inspiration.
I love your mother! What an awesome woman she is. And how proud of you she is.❤❤❤
THE THUMBNAIL IS *AMAZING!* Great work!
Simply FANTASTIC!! You grow as an artist and storyteller and teacher with each video. Thank you for sharing your creative self with the world!
He should wear make up more often. He looks so good haha
As a musician myself, I am extremely proud of you and your song, honestly!
It was good to have that feminine perspective to explain things too
Amazing video. Frida Kahlo, one of a kind.
Greetings from Mexico.
The song brought me to tears. :) você sempre se supera, Nathaniel! Parabéns! ❤
Your mum is so adorable!
You are a renaissance man unafraid to express yourself. I am loving all your videos. I am inspired. Bravo!
Total and pure magic! Thank you for creating this amazing perspective. FRIDA LIVES!
Such a beautiful video! The song at the end made me cry. Thank you for sharing your amazing true beautiful self with the world.
The best part of this video, and your work in general, is not the actual content really but rather the genuine curiosity and enthusiasm that you possess and that come through so strongly. Keep up the great work!
Your mom is so precious 😭😭😭😭 Great video as usual!
Nate, your parents are fabulous - and so are you!
That was magnificent Nathaniel. Your song was so beautiful it made me cry. Thank you 🙏🏽 🌸🫀🌞🌹🥑♥️🌿👁🌙🐒
I discovered Freda while working on my degree in Psychology.
A beautiful video and tribute to one of my favourite artists💝💪 the song at the end was beautiful too
I can only imagine the effort that must have gone is producing this video and putting it together so wonderfully. Kudos Nathaniel. You amaze me with every new video you create. Something really cool about you singing in those overalls. Keep up the amazing work man. :)
Wow! That was amazing to see how you express yourself and portrait Frida.
