    Nice images. I used to always laugh at those folks stomping around with their Wellies on but the older I get the more I find myself wearing a pair myself. There is a line from an old movie where one of the characters is asked if he had ever had ever been lost in the wilderness. His answer was " Never been lost but I have been a might powerful confused for a week or two"

    great images, and great job at 6:25 taking a reading, and adapting the Apature, as we know, to 'make it easy' Don't use Full open, UNLESS you are on a tripod, and can take your time; the depth of field is soo shallow with this format at low f numbers (2.8/3.5/4) that precise focus is a MUST, as the image will suffer otherwise, so to hand hold, go 1 or two stops shut, to ensure you get the shot.( as the 'press photographers' saying goes, F8 and be there!).

    The 'Fern' is Bracken, or Pteridium aquilinum to give it's proper name and one of the most successful land plants being found everywhere except Antartica. Loving your channel, in fact it's now not just my favourite film photography channel, it's my favourite photography channel. Period as the Yanks say. Your style is refreshingly down to earth, but your images are good and your Cockney/Essex Boy persona is a welcome change from the wispy bearded hipsters that normally present this sort of thing. • @kdj.imagery4317
    @kdj.imagery4317 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ear, a few questions...First, what kind of paper did you print on? It looks very glossy. Second, when you make a print, I've watched you doing your dodge/burning and was wondering if you have to do that same process with every print you make? I've never made darkroom prints and was wondering how you get it exactly the same with every print? Also, when you get lost, don't bother with your phone just go like the crow flies! Cheers

    • @ShootFilmLikeaBoss
      @ShootFilmLikeaBoss  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats the beauty I find... no two prints are exactly the same, close but not exact. Makes them unique. I use Gloss and Matt Papers. I like the Gloss look though. If I have a very well exposed negative I can print with no fussing. But sometimes I need to brighten and darken certain areas. Either for personal look or because the negative was out of the dynamic range. Paper only has about 5 stops of range. If my highlights and shadows are beyond that then usually I have to dodge and burn

    • @ShootFilmLikeaBoss

      Fiber is more expensive Russ and takes a lot longer to fix and wash and dry that's why I use resin. But if I were to have a collection of prints for a gallery is probably do it on fiber.

    Rule number 5: wire cutters, technically illegal, but very tempting. It seems that often the barbed wire is there to keep people out and not livestock in. Barbed wire caused the whole 'cowboy' era. Homesteaders were fencing their patch of land in, including water sources, whilst ranchers were trying to drive their cattle to market. Competition over land usage, somebody ends up dead. Even worse the dreaded electric fence !
    Not knowing exactly where you are going is half of the fun. I've come out on the wrong side of the woods and thought 'Where did the mountains go?'
    The green stuff are ferns or bracken, all bracken are ferns, not all ferns are bracken.
    I've got to laugh at your trainers, I had mud coming over the top of both of my wellies at the same time last week, worth it though as I was 'buzzed' by ospreys; as I looked up I nearly stood on a suicidal duck which had built its nest next to a shooting butt (it was a sitting duck, ha, ha, ha ..... sorry) I missed the eggs by inches.
    Great vlog, laughed my was through it.

      @@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Electric fences make for long detours. They also lull you in to a false sense of security. You can touch it and it does nothing, then you move a foot and zap. I'd rather climb a deer fence than have to tackle one of those humming shiny things.
