Maybe this is just me but I'm still personally mad at Levi's for not buying the Cone mills plant when they were struggling, Cone mills was responsible for the denim that MADE the 501. I'd say buy Left Field jeans. Vidalia mills bought those shuttle looms from the plant and still produce denim here in the US and Left Field uses that denim.
Levi’s could overcharge for their cool one-off 501’s all day and for some reason I’d still be obsessed with them, makes no sense 🤷🏼♂️ but here we are!
I recommend the tcb 50s very much. Ive had them since october last year and they fade like a dream. They use cotton threads so those wear our quite quickly and need repairs around heavy wear areas like the pockets.
Get the Sugar Cane 1947s for your wide fitting jeans. I have an oversized pair of them and they are incredible. The mobility of the relaxed fit is a godsend. Amazing construction and denim for a rather reasonable price.
Levi's Vintage Clothing to Denimheads is kinda like Nike to Sneakerheads. They know people want that exclusivity, those limited drops and they know they can charge an arm and a leg because of it.
Hey Michael! Just wanted to add I just received my pair of ‘55 501 LVC and it seems to be true that all pairs of LVC this season are made in Japan! Kinda justifying that 260$ price tag now tbh. Was super stoked to see that on the care tag
Chain store near Atlanta that apparently gets Levi's jeans. I saw a new pair of 501 indigo selvedge with a card and fancy labels. I looked like Kramer after I tried to stretch em and even added a button to loosen the waist. Probably some Big chain store liquidation. If only 32" instead of 30"
I like my $69.99 STF 501's with batchelor bottons that I installed for my suspenders that I wear for comfy comfort, as I'm a 50 year old man and cant wait to pair them with my levi's premium jacket, as soon as the temperature drops here in Miami. I'll be waiting a while.
Since you said you liked the more generous fit of these 501's, I'd definitely recommend that you buy a pair of vintage 550's. I was used to wearing 505's, so I felt like the 550's were too baggy at first since they're relaxed fit, but the fit grew on me after only a day of wearing them. I've bought two more pairs since and they're almost the only jeans I wear now.
@@TheIronSnail They seem to lack the fuzzies, neps & slubs of a lot of the other brands. Absolutely no gimmicks at all. That being said, the build quality is second to none. Absolutely bomb proof jeans.

Damn it Michael I was just about to get my college work done and you drop a video. But I wanted to know what your opinions are on corduroy and which is better in your opinion corduroy or denim?

I’m hearing about Everlane more and more! They seem pretty cool, GAP is pretty sweet too BUT if you’re looking for some banger jeans I highly suggest Unbranded
I’d suggest Sugar Cane for a wide fit - I’d be really interested to see the development of the “sugar” denim Sugar Cane rather than regular denim - the Hawaii and Okinawa (both “sugar” denim IIRC) are fairly traditionally wide fit- and they have cool sashiko stitching on the right rear pocket. Not too expensive / great value. Self Edge will have them in lower east side, so you could get content out of it too.

dude you should do a video on the classic wrangler cowboy cut 13mwz rigid, another great budget raw option. They are straight leg not boot cut but more of a wider anti fit i would say. They are sanforized but the denim is stil raw and very rigid, and they are heavier than levis i think around 15 oz.

But it's cool you got to borrow and demo a pair, and glad you're honest that you wouldn't pay $600 either. Also, please, please, please don't buy wide pants.
