I feel like the KH fandom should collectively "Thank Naminé"
I do think it would be an interesting conflict if Naminé worked to recover Ventus’s memories, while Chirithy worked to actively repress them
A conflict about what's better: face your trauma or repress it. It could be very interesting and would fit with the more serious tone of the new story.
I Wonder If vanitas could also play a role in this maybe as an alternate way to start unraveling ven's UX memory chain given How much they are linked and that ven's chirithy would be blocking her access to ventus's memories?
I always liked Naminé but I never realized how important she truly was.
My first experience with Kingdom Hearts was at a friend’s house. He lived on one end of the street and I was in the middle. My first thought was seeing this Japanese fantasy character and noting how much he stood out in the world of Wonderland and working alongside Donald and Goofy. I also saw him in Olympus Coliseum, Agrabah, Halloween Town, Neverland, and Hollow Bastion. I distinctly remember Phil mocking Sora, using Abu in the Cave of Wonders, and flying with Peter Pan at Big Ben. The last thing I remember seeing was Sora teaming up with Beast after losing the Keyblade to Riku and Donald and Goofy leaving him behind. I forgot about it for a while until my sister came home one day with a copy of Kingdom Hearts II that she borrowed from a friend. As I watched her play and saw the dream sequences recounting the first game, it all suddenly came back to me. From there, my love of this series began. It really is incredible how different and unique our first experiences with these games are. Hearing your recollection brought back my memories and I won’t lie, it felt very nostalgic. I’m glad to have Kingdom Hearts in my life. I don’t know what I would be like without it.
Damn this was so good. I've been having thoughts that Strelitzia and Namine may have a deeper connection, as they may potentially be from the same world, if Castle Oblivion/Land of Departure happens to be the ruins of Scala/Daybreak Town. Maybe Marluxia and Larxene led a mutiny against the Organization for deeper, more personal motives involving Castle Oblivion that we just were never privy to. I really hope Namine gets the opportunity to highlight her connections to Ven and potentially others from Union X. Namine Matters!
Hyped for the Damo collab. Got chills from that teaser!
The year was 2010. My sister had just given me a PSP and a few games that her boyfriend had previously given to her.
My family had gone to Disney World and we were walking around in Downtown Disney. There was an electronics store that I just had to go into. Upon entering, I was greeted by a display that was entirely made of the PSP game Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.
I recognized the name and knew that the franchise was pretty popular online, but I didn't really know anytjing about it. I begged my parents to buy the game for me.
BBS was my first foray into the KH universe. It wasn't until after I finished the game that I actually went back and started at KH1.
Similar to you and Naminé/Kairi, I was totally attached to Ven instead of Sora.
This also meant that a major reveal in BBS was totally unremarkable for me lol. When Vanitas has his face revealed, I could tell from the framing that it was supposed to be super dramatic, but I didn't even know who Sora was at this point, let alone what he would look like in KH2!
When I got around to playing KH2, i had total reverse dramatic reveals from everyone else. Rather than seeing Ventus and knowing he looks like Roxas, I saw Roxas and knew he looked like Ventus. Rather than see Vanitas and knowing he looks like Sora, I saw Sora and knew he looked like Vanitas!
As someone who was given KH2 before any other game, Roxas and Namine have always been important to me. I always thought their stories were way more interesting and tragic
So interesting to see it from that perspective. I'm a little jealous.
Another incredibly beautiful video once again. This really made me look toward Naminé in a different way, I already valued a lot of what you talked about but you re-contextualised a lot of it into something deeply emotional and personally meaningful. Just tremendous stuff, you’re so good at this.
18:54 When I interviewed Larxene's voice actress Shanelle for the Replica Program podcast, she said she wants Elrena to retain Larxene's rude personality!
Btw the interview will be public soon don't worry!
Thank you very much for making this video. Namine, to me, is the most underrated character in the entire series. She has done so much in the story to help Sora and those related to him in order to accomplish what needed to be done throughout the Dark Seeker Saga despite not being a fan favorite. I hope she plays more of a major role in the future.
As always, your analysis are a credit to the community.
The personally colored scraps of paper linking everyone together was especially befitting.
I do relate with the way you got drawn into KH. I played KH 1 with my cousin first, but we never got off the island.
But that single experience made enough of an expression on me that somehow when I saw the KH logo on a GBA cartridge in Gamestop one day, I was drawn to it.
The silver chrome cover never beckoned me; I got a used copy.
That actually worked in my advantage as the previous person had beaten the game unlocking Riku's story to me. I finally got to play the unbeatable rival who taunted my childhood self.
Just like you, I never beat CoM. I found Namine, but I never saved her.
After that, I eventually played KH2, and my fate as a fan was sealed.
Even so, CoM holds a special place of nostalgia in a lot of our hearts. As you said, the story was surprisingly dark. Larxene's cruelty, Riku's guilt, Sora's anger, Namine's abuse, and the ever-present feeling of wandering further and further into the spider's web.
To lose is to gain and to gain is to lose.
Every 'world' concluding with the dim reminder that everything was fake-a recreation, all while Scent of Silence plays eerily in the background before you return to the stark white halls of Castle Oblivion.
But enough pontificating, Namine is special. In a game obssessed with trios, she feels so very alone and too often forgotten. I've never actually tied her blond hair as well as spawning in Castle Oblivion to Ventus' heart/body. It's an intriguing point, one made even moreso if they do in fact hit upon that connection between the two and have her draw out his latent memories.
And I do agree that Namine doesn't need a keyblade. You don't need to fight to be strong. In both CoM and KH 2, you see her rebelling against her captors/abusers in ways that showcase her care for others overpowering her fear. If she never struck against them, then yes, who knows where the series would be now?
As someone whose always been exploited by others, who views her power as a curse, what I want from Namine is not a keyblade but her independence.
Her using her powers not to hurt or chain people but to help them.
I want her to proudly proclaim, "I am a witch with powers over memories," not as a burden of shame but as point of pride.
Because she is special, she is unique, and as you argued, she is enough.
How nice of the recommendations to show me a Naminé appreciation video.
Also, I always thought that Naminé already had power over memories in general but because Sora drives the plot forward everyone only cares what she can do to mess with him.
Also also, Profesional Hater and Instigator Larxene was the one that stuck with me the most during Chain of Memories and I thought that once she managed to get a hold of a singular chill pill she might become my favorite character so I hope we see more of her now that it happened.
That intro about first impressions called out to me, particularly the "friends with Namine before Kairi" bit. My first experience with KH was a used copy of 358/2 days, my first bit of gameplay the final fight at the clocktower with a max level character, my first time seeing Sora... replacing the face of someone being molded into him.
Starting a new game when I got older only served to bring more questions, while building contempt for this mystery boy whose importance led to these characters I grew to love being torn apart.
When I first saw Xions death scene, I didn't know who anyone was, the next time the only one I didn't know was this "Sora" who indirectly led to Xions death.
I am a full time fan now, I know who Sora is and how kind and friend obsessed he is, but that quote: "It's him, It's Sora" is a permanent fixture in my mind.
Wow. That's a helluva way to enter the series!
I gotta say the nostolgic vibe of this video is immaculate, it really made me sit and reminince about the days when i had just discovered kingdom hearts and how strong my love for it used to be, i had been obsessed with namine and replika riku back in middle school when i first finished CoM and would rant to my mom for hours about their story, i feel like with the general lack of major kh content since 2020 i have really grown away from the series and after all the years begun to move onto new obsessions, but now i really just want to go and replay then entire series again and just re experience it from the beginning❤❤❤
I actually grew with the KH series in order. I played KH1 when I was around Sora's age the year after KH1 released. I met Naminé when I was a deeply shy and lonely high schooler, and as I get older I still relate to her a lot. She reminds me of my days spent drawing in my room rather than playing with other kids. And I also relate to her reactions to the ways in which the Organization treated her. She's the character who's most like me in a lot of ways. I want nothing more than for Naminé, and other KH female characters, to have their share of the limelight. There are still so many mysteries that deserve to be explored.
Namine has always been one of my favorite KH characters and CoM one of my favorite games. She's done so much and gets so little credit both in and out of universe.
And yeah she should've been in MoM even if just shown in the lab with Ansem helping out.
Another work of art incoming!
I love Namine so much I felt connected to her instantly
I really hope we see naminé more she's genuinely one of my favorite characters in the franchise and it sucks how she's been treated tbh
Another wonderful video Sonny, that was beautiful. Adored the drawings (very cute), renders and overall personal approach you seamlessly weaved with your insightful analysis on Naminé's lore and connections which I hadn't realised before. Thank you for immense care you put into this video and for the jumpscare shout. 💜
A nice detail about blank points after it narrates that "All the pieces lie where they fell", it cuts to Naminé, implying her pivotal role in the healing/reconnecting of so many, and I hope she can continue that.
Excellent video, loved the artwork matching Namine's drawings........That tease for the next video is exciting as well. Keep up the good work
Did not expect this to be your next video after the glorious "The Basement Incident" but it was a great video regardless! (And as someone who watches TH-cam in incognito, it was a VERY nice surprise to see this in my recommendeds a mere 48 hours after posting, and 2.1K views, was a fantastic treat!)
It might not be "The Basement Incident 2 Electric Boogaloo" but for a fundamentally different video, again, it was a great personal video. If you're 2 minutes into the video, and see this comment, stick to the vid, you won't regret it!
I had an all white blue eyed cat i named naminé. She was the best cat ever and she loved beaded necklaces.
Larxene on her way to torment and torture Naminé more: "Now watch me whip, Naminae-nae"
Get out
I too pray for Naminé to return, she's such an important part of the narrative and she always gets pushed narratively to the side to the point she makes that heartbreaking comment in KH3 of Roxas being the one everyone misses.
An absolutely wonderful video, stellar editing and scripting and even gave me new thoughts as I hadn't considered the unversed being similar to the heartless due to Ven's memories of Union Cross.
Earned a subscription for sure!
Having a "post credit ending" to tease the upcoming Collab is the most Kingdom Hearts thing I've ever seen. I love the Kingdom Hearts Community
Your videos are always extremely high production cases so they do take much longer to come out but they are also always worth the wait. Excellent theory!
I know Nomura said the other trios arent going to play a huge part in the next saga, but i think Namine is an exception soley because of the Thank Namine thing. They continued to throw that in our face and still not deliver throughout KH3 and its clearly building towards something.
What a phenimanal video, the last few sentences made me legit tear up. Thank you for dedicating that video to the one character that deserves more
Axel: [murders vexen]
Sora: what are you people!?
Also sora 5 minutes later: all the other kids with their pumped up kicks
It’s crazy me and my cousin were very young when he gifted me his ps2 and a copy of KH1 that day changed my life forever and even when kh3 came out and I was grounded he came to my house surprising me with a copy of kh3. We’re both adults now and don’t talk very much but those days had a huge impact on me.
I cannot wait!!
I know it's weird but I'm a huge KH fan as KH is my favorite game series. My real name and the first letter of my last name is the same as your channel plus I had a similar experience when I first played KH as I had my older step-cousin showed me KH 1 and then, I was so enthralled with it as a kid, I stayed up all night playing it 😂 I remember seeing the first cutscene and I was so confused as to what was happening as well as thinking Sora was a girl (ofc he has to correct me lol). Anyways, great video as always!
Good lord Sonny, this freaking rules! Super compelling, brilliantly executed, and heart wrenching!! Love your vids man, fantastic job!
Namine and Larxene are 2 of my 3 favorite KH characters, so I very much yearn for Namine to get more content and care as well.
Great video.
Greetings from Shedding Starlight! After watching this, I am hyped to devour all your content 😂. This raised so many points I never thought about over the years. Love it!
I really hope at some point down the line you get some recognition from the algorithm and this video gets some views. I’m a fan of the style.
I remember detting dark cloud as a gift and it beating my ass as a kid and never going back and beating it. I also remember eventually getting an allowance and buying kingdom hearts as the greatest hits for $20 and it becoming my favorite game series ever.
UM, HOW DARE YOU MAKE ME THIS EMOTIONAL, OUCH. (I'm sorry I missed the live premiere) #thanksonny #thanknamine. thank you for making this. All of your videos are funny and beautiful.
God, that story reminds me of my entry point into KH, being 358. I knew of Sora from a high school friend who’d talk about KH2 but I never actually saw him, I never actually played as him. Instead, I learned about the world from the outside looking in, from the perspective of the “bad guys,” trying to make sense of who Sora is, why is he important to Roxas, who is Kairi, and why does Xion look like her
I became friends with Roxas and Xion and Axel before I knew who Sora, Kairi, and Riku were and that’s wild to me lmao
I'm glad you gave your description into the fandom.
For me...I remember the commercial...it made me feel...safe...and nostalgic...
I would look up the lore and hear my friend talk about it.
It wasn't until I was an adult would I finally play this game and it felt...healing...like...a friend I forgot...
Sometimes I wonder if I can really call myself a "fan" if I played this so late in my life...
But...this silly little series with Mickey wacking folks with a key...means something to me...
This is a beautiful work of art, as a video. I had a similar experience with Kingdom Hearts and I had goosebumps listening to you reminisce. You made a really special video here. Thank you.
that was EXCELLENT thank you so much
Oooh! This looks like it'll be good!
WHY AM I CRYING?! 😭😭😭 I wanna hug Namine 💖
Beautiful and thank Namine, enough said.
never waited as anxiously as I did for an KH video - thx for the awesome content bro
Before watching I'm gonna say that Namine is one of those characters the narrative intentionally doesn't dwell on but that doesn't mean her impact isn't felt. She's one of the most important secondary characters and her presence has drastically altered the events and people around her. Anyone who says she doesn't belong in the story clearly weren't paying attention.
God your videos are SO GOOD!!!!! I hope they don't forget about her in the next saga, she really deserves more.
Video and writing was so good I had to subscribe. Fantastic.
I like to think That during Melody of Memories Namine was helping The twilight Town trio search through Roxas’s and Xion’s Memories for Clues on Sora that why she was not working with Kairi.
obsessed with this
Beautiful video sonny. Simply beautiful.
I’m so excited for when Namine helps Ventus get his memories back
I am actually hoping Namine does something in this arc. I hadn't thought of the method for Ven remembering the past, i just accepted it as something that was bound to happen. I was more concerned with the notion of her being the key to to unravelling stuff related to subject X or potentially stuff related to Xehanort's research. But i'll add ventus to the list.
Oh my god this video is way good. Im so upset I had to rush pack things up at my work because of a shortage situation😭😭 I was so ready to yell every second. This video did not disappoint I am way too excited to see what else you have to bring to the table.😭😭😭
ALSO!!! whAAAAAAT?! WAY HYPE!!!!!
such a great video + analysis on how vital a character like naminé is ♡
I am in utter tears now realizing what Naminé means: Nami --> Wave, né, french for "born". So her name can basically be interpret as "a wave born" (Kairi being the ocean, Naminé a wave of that ocean).
Maybe there are other ways to interpret it though.
What do you guys think?
I theorize that Namine is created by the Ancient Darkness that was Vanitas reaching across Ventus and Kairi's Hearts when Sora becomes Physical Darkness (Heartless, physical extensions of the Ancient Darkness) . And The Ancient Darkness can create Bodies and shapeshift people from Scratch. Also , the ability to Unchain and Rechain Memories is an Ancient Darkness Power, seen when The Darkness unchains how Ventus got a Book of Prophecies. So, Darkness made Roxas and Namine through Sora.
@Fragmentsinfractals488 hi i have been writing theories on small bits i feel aren't explained that well in the kingdom hearts series with taken to be honest quite a bit of there information with bits added on that makes it fit better i guess like all theories
anyway
theories like why emblem heartless exist outside of the Terranort experiments being like all the Disney heartless with an emblem
aswell as the type of emblem heartless you are may be decide what type of lesser nobody you turn into outside of the will of the body reasoning but
the last theory was on the heart of the nobody makes the element like Xemnas with Terra and Xehanorts influence felt pain based on the memories he made his heart week which is why he cant wield a Keyblade as you need a strong heart to wield a keyblade which Xemnas did not have at that point
however
Namine just has not made sense to me in terms of creation but im curious on your theory so can you explain it better for me i'm assuming you mean Sora had 4 hearts Vaintas being that 4 that he has similar to how nobodies can regrow hearts vanitas also did when separated from Ventus whilst also being tied to him and when vanitas left soras heart he took aspects of ventus and kairis hear bassically making vanitas a darkness that can change form a being of light that can change form in which manged to end up as namine
@@willowdebruin3343 Here is some more interesting Lore. The ability to manipulate Memories is a property of Darkness. We see this in Union X when the Formless Darkness unchains the Memories from the Vessel of the Killer of Lauriam's sister. Darkness is also a Shapeshifter and shapeshifts people They touch. (see the difference in Appearance of Diz and Ansem the Wise or the Yellow Eyes of vessels of Darkness, or Vanitas).
Darkness is the reason Namine exists, specifically Darkness can access Ventus and Kairi's Hearts when Sora become a physical Darkness, the Heartless.
Now, if you have played Union X, you will know Spoilers:
One of the Formless Darkness attached Themselves to Ventus and becomes Vanitas in the future. When Vanitas returns to being Formless Darkness in Ventus in BBS, They can flow through to Sora (because of his super empathy) when he becomes a Heartless (Physical Darkness). And that Darkness created Namine and Roxas. It is also possibly responsible for transferring the features of Ventus on to Namine and Roxas.
And we know Vanitas/Darkness created a separate body from Ventus.
Also, although Kairi and Ventus cannot grow Darkness from inside their Heart, The Ancient Darkness can still parasite onto them from the Outside.
You might also notice Namine starts "existing" in Castle Oblivion, the place Ventus's body is. The Place Formless Darkness is, hiding inside him.
So Roxas and Namine are Darkness copies of Ventus and Kairi with bits of cross over.
This.
@@Fragmentsinfractals488 thank you if i get confused by something i might come back but im going to try to fix the bit that may copy or contradict ideas from this
@@Fragmentsinfractals488 hi so i finished my theory going on most of your points but i think i added some okay so when Sora stabbed himself with a keyblade at hollow bastion Sora actually had 4 hearts
his own that turned into a heartless
Ventus's that went into Roxas
Kairi's whos heart went back to her
and Vanitas's whos heart is seperate from Ventus similar to how nobodies can regrow hearts that were not there originals
the logic of this theory goes as followers Vainitas is in Sora's heart as a formless darkness its not doing anything to Sora because its in a comatose state like Ventus when Sora is a shadow heartless Vanitas stays within him like how Eraqus does with terra
the reason why Vanitas dosent go to Ventus is because Ventus is a pure light and so Vanitas stayed with what was a closer connection to a darkness Sora's heartless
however
when Kairi saved Sora from being a heartless that separated Vanitas from the heartless with Kairis heart being the reason why Sora got back it impacted Vanitas darkness to pretty much copy Kairis heart with the copying of Kairi's heart
Vanitas now lighter heart could better corporate with the light bits of Ventus and Sora as there connected
taken Ventus blonde hair formless Vanitas with a heart copying Kairi's and Ventus heart becomes Namine with ties to Sora's memory's because Vanitas has connections to him
lastly to carry on the idea of Namine being in castle oblivion because of ties to Ventus
what if Namine and Ventus switched places and the body that brings back Sora was actually Ventus's although still was Sora's heart from the shadow heartless
and once in kingdom hearts 2 when Namine and Sora get re completed Sora's body that made Roxas goes back to him and Ventus's body that took on the form of Sora went back to castle oblivion whilst Namine's body made by formless Vanitas stays formless until monsters inc world in kingdom hearts 3
@@willowdebruin3343 When Vanitas's physical body is destroyed in BBS, his heart vanishes as well. They become pure Darkness, as depicted in Remind, where the Darkness does not respond to Vanitas and refers to itself simply as Darkness.
The Vanitas in 3 time-traveled from before the destruction of his physical heart and body in BBS, utilizing the heart he developed through his connection to Sora across time and space. He inhabits a Replica Prototype during 3, then will return and face destruction in BBS.
The ancient Darkness, once called Vanitas, is all that remains.
I'll be waiting
so happy about this namine is my favorite character
This was very well written, good job!
Bro this was too beautiful
I remember when Kingdom Hearts 3 first came out I was one of its defenders while playing it. I loved the game. Sure, it had problems, but I was having fun and enjoyed how the original content was blended into the Disney worlds. Larxene tearing into Sora for some of my own problems with him as a character was delightful. Hell, I even liked all the insanity with the Keyblade Graveyard. At least as much as I could comprehend. But when I got to the Final World, and heard Namine speaking from that star... I was confused. Angry, even. Xion still existing was weird, but I could get over it. Roxas having keyblades he shouldn't have access to? I guess time travel is just like that or something. But seeing the girl I grew up with having been ceremoniously killed off screen and not brought back like everyone else just... broke me.
And thats the thing about memories. When they sour, they affect the memories surrounding them. All my other issues with 3 started to impact me more. The problems I mentioned earlier were harder to ignore. Luxord being taken out by bad breath turned from a funny joke to an obnoxiously convenient way to write him out of that world. Just as someone I didn't even realize I enjoyed as much as I do was turned into a missable easter egg for people who wanted to play a minigame. What could have been my third favorite game was turned into one that I couldn't help but to find flaws in.
And I know a big part of that is because Chain of Memories is my favorite game in the series. Not only because I'm a weirdo and actually like the cards, but also for the very things talked about in the story analysis. Its Sora's struggle with his own helplessness, his desire to save "her", stripped down and exposed like a raw nerve. And all of those black cloaks constantly poking and proding at it. Nevermind the juxtaposition between both versions of Riku not only fighting for their own version of that, but the Replica's desperation to prove he has a reason to exist. And at the center of it is this poor girl who just wants freedom, some peace and quiet, but is trapped in a cage of thorns.
And her entire story is just moving from one cage to another. Marluxia and Castle Oblivion, DiZ and the Old Mansion, a brief stint outside to save Kairi only to merge into her, then off to the Final World with nothing more than a passing echo.
And sure, ReMind happened and at least gave her _something_ . But she deserves better. Roxas is also a character defined by tragedy, but we get to see him succeed in life. Namine just... exists. And only barely at that. And I want to see her succeed just as her only real friend did.
come back Sonny I miss you bro
I'll be back in due time!!!
She’s always been my favourite girl ❤
WE WERE ROBBED OF NAMINE IN A LITTLE LABCOAT IN M.O.M!!! I'm so glad someone else had that line of thought Namine's been SHAFTED so unfairly!
HYYYPE!!
We know why Roxas looks like Ventus instead of Sora but to this day we still don’t know why Namine does not look like Kairi and until Nomura answers this I will never stop asking this question
Im similer. My first impression was from my cousin and he let me play through the roxas episode of kh 2. After that the only kh game i played after was 365 days. Then after a few years i was giveny cousins ps2 and his kh 2 copy and played it. After that i played kh 3 when it came out and now currently im working my way through all of the games.
The game that was conceived as as bridge between two games, could now have one of its original character be the bridge between two sagas, two time periods, and many more characters
💯 I'm literally so excited!!!🎉
I love these videos so much
Naminé is arguably my favorite KH character and the one who I feel was probably done dirtiest by the series. Every game I hope for this girl to get Ws and she just gets glossed over the overwhelming majority of the time.
YESS!!! EXITED TO START WATCHING!!!!😍😍😍
My 1st kingdom hearts game was KH2 for how little time you have with her in that game, I still liked her character, but she's also the only one no one asks what sora holds within his heart, what links does he have that are dormant, only she knows at least a bit more than anyone else, and she's currently not saying anything, just enjoying the time she has with everyone, and it's the data version who is willing to talk more about them, the one outside of that is almost worried that if she says anything something bad will happen, like she glimpsed the future and saw what shouldn't have happened, but from the point she warns Roxas, she has kept oddly quiet afterwards, and we know amsum the wise and Riku wouldn't harm her, so where did that emotion go then? We never really question that she may have had different visitors at one point or another, but that's speculation at best, but I'd love for her to get some more focused games or lore.
Hey bro. I figured out that the Maater of master’s name is probably bahamut, and that just makes the most sense to my mind.
A Sonny banger?!?! LFG!!!!
Brb crying grown man tears the last line
namine is so fascinating!
There's A Reason Why The Company Based This Game Series Off The Book "Flowers For Algernon." That Is... If You Want The Truth Of It All.

Well said!
What was that version of Namine’s theme at the end?
thank you namine :)
I am sorry , but in the direct Japanese to English translation, in Chain of Memories, Her is never used to describe the person. It is "that person" or "your precious person".
Further, After Sora gets the Meteor promise, he starts calling Namine and this person, aitsu, which is a gender neutral but male leaning pronoun that it would be rude to call a girl.
He also calls Riku Replica that.
And that is why when Selphie says, " He's thinking about "Her"" it is actually "He's thinking about "that guy" /Aitsu". And Sora goes "Umm... I guess", because he is thinking of Riku who is imprinted on Namine. So, Sora is trying to figure out if he is looking for Riku or Namine. After all, when Sora came to the Castle, he was looking for Riku, and that is what Namine used to draw Sora there. She "called out to his Heart" and suddenly, Sora just knows Riku is in the Castle.
Also, the place where Namine is standing, and Kairi appears when the Star reverts back to Oathkeeper is the same place Riku was standing before the Real Destiny Island fell to Darkness before Ansem, Seeker of Darkness sent him away. See Recoded.
Also, Riku's Light gives Sora the Kingdom Key on that same night, the Sword to protect him. His Crown, so to speak.
The insinuation during that scene is Riku wanted to take Sora through his Darkness and they both would have ended up where Sora and Namine are in the illusion of Destiny Islands in Chain of Memories, but on the Real Destroyed Islands. And Sora clasps Namine's hand like Riku wanted Sora to do in KH1. And all the things Sora says to Namine mirror Sora reuniting with Riku/"Ansem " in KH2 in both the games and the novels.
And Namine herself explains she cannot create new Memories, just rearrange existing true ones. So, how do Riku Replica and Sora have the Memory of the Meteor promise? If the promise was between Sora and Kairi, how does Riku Replica have it?
Further, that promise takes place before KH1 when Kairi gave Sora OathKeeper, and it is implied that Kairi was the meteor, and wasn't on the island yet. So, what... is happening?
This is important.
My theory is that Kairi is Strelitzia reincarnated, and that Strelitzia in the kh4 trailer is data Strelitzia that's been manipulated by the MoM. I think if I'm right, that could mean that Ven AND Strelitzia both effect Strelitzia. Marluxia being in charge of Naming in Castle oblivion would also be crazy, brother holding sister hostage in the same castle her murderer/kinda-somebody(Ven) 🙃🙃🙃 l think Strelitzia being reincarnated into Kairi would be crazy for the plot. It would also imply that Strelitzia is truly gone and that they'll have to deal with that grief somehow. Data Strelitzia could be a villain as well. 🙃🙃🙃
Namine
1. This is phenomenal. 2. You conclude that because we only see Roxas in TT that Namine can control his memories too. I just want to point out the other possibility, that Soras heart did contain memories of TT, either from before age 4 or a previous life. These 2 can even coexist.
Did some of your videos get claimed??
Thanks Obama...I mean Naminé
🍦Hey there, I'm a system, "split personality" and all that. And something that this video made "us" realize about Naminé is she's really the first introduction the series has to "alternate people" of sorts. Kairi was the stepping stone but Naminé became the first character who you meet, you get to know and care for who's explicitly understood as her own entity yet paradoxically not. I think we just have to appreciate her for being that.
Nobodies feel very relatable to systems and their "alters", at least Naminé and Roxas (And Ven and Vanitas). Constantly debating your own existence, being seen as lesser as a result, etc. But Naminé is so much more than that. She's her own person, but Sora and Kairi the same. Characters that say it doesn't matter what your origin is, what matters is you're here now to keep existing going forward.
It's why KH needs to treat its women better. If the point of the series is to respect people's existences and connect those experiences, then constantly dismissing character's existences on the trivial point of "They're a girl" makes the message feel more and more hollow. More than a Nobody.
But I've rambled enough as is, and I didn't even mention how Naminé reminds us of a gatekeeper, so I'll cut it off here haha. Thanks for writing this, the drawings were all so cute and you can tell how much effort you put into it. Thank you (and Naminé) for existing! - Roxas, this system's 13th alter
