I just returned from a Discovery Princess cruise. I love the Medallion Class experience BUT I was absolutely shocked and dismayed that they didn't have a bin for us to return the medallion which is a type of airtag. Where are they made and who are they made by? More than likely they're extracted in from mines and manufactured in factories that exploit their labor force. Image 3000-4000 medallions tossed at the end of every cruise. These should be recycled.
@@OneCouplesAdventure I didn't think you'd see my post but thanks for your response. I am completing my post cruise survey now and suggesting that the medallions be collected to recycle the parts at the end of every cruise. Very wasteful and not environmentally friendly, if they do not.
@nyame-ama I think that's a great idea! The thing is, many of my guests choose to keep it and collect it as a momento! The same way some people collect ticket stubs from concerts.
My husband and I are cruise vlog junkies. We watch a lot of different ones and not a day goes by that we don't watch at least a few. We just discovered your vlog and I gotta tell ya......we LOVE your format and your personalities. We couldn't subscribe fast enough. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Good information. As a passenger on the Royal in 2019, they had us use both the card and the medallion because it was in the testing stage on the ship. It was interesting to see all the IT guys on the ground and up in the ceiling setting up the receivers throughout the ship. We have taken a few cruises with Princess since that time, and I have got to say that one of my favorite usages of the Medallion app was the contacting customer service without having to go stand in the lobby to explain whatever issue I had. It was a charge, and they immediately took it off. Thanks for sharing!

Kev & Stacey, Just wanted to say “thank you” for this video, we watched it a few weeks back prior to our cruise on “SKY” this week. Your video is/was a mega helpful insight, we’ve only been on board a few days (with a wake view, sorry Stacey😂). And the app is super useful and ultra handy once you start to navigate through it. Also thanks for the tip on the two buttons on the door panel for privacy and housekeeping- we find these a godsend and wouldn’t have know otherwise. The medallion net internet is the best I’ve come across at sea! Thanks again you two keep up the good work!

Definitely agree it’s the best cruise app when used with the medallion. Really enjoyed it on Enchanted Princess, although a few times my drinks order didn’t arrive so glad I’d got a package and didn’t have to sort out charges.
When we had a drink that we got charged for when we were told it was included they sorted it out for us, so im sure they would sort out any missed deliveries

The medallion sounds like a good thing to have. My sister is wanting to go on a Princess cruise to Alaska now. She did Mexico years ago with her 14 year old son. Great vlog as always, always happy to see new posts.
Really recommend a Alaska cruise it really was a beautiful place. And yes it's a really good system that Princess have introduced, makes things so much easier on board

I'm curious to know if you both have to have the app? DH doesn't usually take his phone away with him. I'm the techie in the house and getting him to engage can be testing! I quite understand that we would be very limited in what functions we could use - for instance he wouldn't know what's going on around the ship, can't use the find (VERY useful feature) feature and lot of others. Your insights would be appreciated.

Well done on the Princess content. As ever sport on. Princess for me, the median when it is working redeems otherwise poor carnival experiences (don’t get me started on Cunard). But I do like Princess. Also I’m planning Argentina Patagonia feb 2025 with Holland America. I’m Holding off booking hoping it drops in price, think it might appeal to you both. (What level of blindness KEV- I’m partially sighted. Happy to talk with you of the definitions anytime as long as it’s on a ship. Xx)
I understand that they no longer assign you a boarding group or specific time. You can get aboard starting 4 hours before the ship is scheduled to leave.

Hi, just watched this video thank you. We are doing our first post-Covid cruise next month, around NZ and Australia. We did three cruises before Covid, two P&O (Australia) and the last one in December 2019 with Princess. One question you might be able to answer... Do we need two cellphones to order food etc? I have already loaded the app onto my phone and it seems to be working okay. Does my husband need to also take a cell phone or can I order, say, two drinks (one for each of us) on my phone and will they know that one's for me and one's for my husband? Sailed with Princess years ago, this will be the first time with the medallion (November 2023) and it isn't looking good at all. The downloaded phone app is useless, I can't go past the first screen, and the online version tells me that I have a bad booking number -- yet when I go into my info the booking number is there. .... but it freezes. I had hope to make a dinner reservation or two, but will have to wait until I am on board....and end up eating in the buffet.
Trying to get the Port Guides you mentioned, but it just keeps telling me :" Connect to MedallionNet on board to download port guide". Any tips for us? We'd like to get an idea about the ports before booking excursions. Thank much.
If you can't get it to load on the app then they tell you most of the information about the ports on the princess website, if you just Google princess cruises port guide, then the port you want, it will take you to the page you're after

Do you have different passenger numbers? I can't remember how we did it, it was a year ago when we boarded. It might change once you check in and are able to book shows/dining etc. If not guest services will sort you out once on board

Yes just turn on airplane mode and then turn the wifi back on, you can also turn Bluetooth on in airplane mode if you have wireless headphones or a smart watch
Never used an app before, and husband has no phone and is partially sighted and has serious mobility problems. Now I am terrified to go on the cruise I was looking forward too. We like to sit at the same table group at the same time each evening so how will I do that? Also the shows, how will I be sure to find seats with easy access on the level? Why can't things be left as they are we have managed 20 or more cruises quite happily so why do we need phones/apps to tell us what to do . I won't be booking with Princess again if this is how they treat people .
Said in the video that if you aren't tech savvy or have a phone there is a paper copy available of everything happening on the ship or there are crew members there to assist people

Yes absolutely agree, you can't reuse them either. They should have a recycling bin definitely

Really like that idea instead of a plastic card, you can go swimming and use the swim up bars without worrying about where to keep your card.

Thanks. The electricity always seemed to be on in the room, so no need to do anything with the medallion.

Another plus of the Medallions are that they are magnetic and make great souvenirs, since they are engraved with the date and cruise details!

It will tell you on your daily cruise planner which ports require you to take I.D/ a passport

No just one person needs it to order drinks, look at whats happening on the ship etc

Hey these were just an Adult one size fits all. They you just adjust accordingly
If you have the Princess Premier package, then you will get a Medallion accessory free from the shop on board!

You can't see everything available on the app until you board the ship
How about if you do not have a smart phone or do not use one?
There is always a paper copy of the daily schedule left for each day, or there are touch screens to use too

the app is horrible. Off-ship, its laggy, unresponsive and freezes. Hope its different once on board
