I just got home from Yellowstone. I also fished that river and that lake (conveniently they are right next to each other and the lake is a short hike). I got a very nice Cut in the river from a hole that hadn't been spooked by fifteen other fishermen before me but at the lake I went through my entire fly book and got to watch the refusal by multiple fish of each fly (from about ten feet away, the fish couldn't have cared less about me or my shadow). I was so frustrated that if I had not got the nice one on the river the next day I was threatening to find some powerbait to smear on the fly (Which is against the regs for Yellowstone and I did not, in fact, end up doing) I saw holes in the river that had a dozen or so monster trout in them, to say nothing of the many large fish I saw in the lake. The fish are there if you go to the park, but they are some of the most educated trout you will meet so be sure to bring your A game.
Dude the lake always fishes tooooouuugh. Last time I was up there I got skunked and swore I’d never make the steep hike again unless it was to watch the otters fish the inlet in spring.
awesome video my dude. we’re you using a four or a five weight on those? it looked like they had you bent over pretty good. i’ve wanted to fish the Yellowstone forever.
Great video. Just one thing. Shorts and a Buff? Really? Dumb. If people wore newspaper wrapped around their heads in American Angler... That would bring back a lot of failing newspapers.
Yo! Ryan Little here. Super cool to hear my music in your video :)
Ryan Little dude you’re beats are the best, I appreciate it!
Great work on this! What a fun day out on the water, good people, and great fish. Inspiring!
Sick video dude. That landscape looks amazing and those Cutthroats were beautiful
justzanin thanks man! Pretty hard to beat
I don’t know how this isn’t a 200k - 300k subscriber TH-cam channel. The videos are amazing.
I appreciate it man, hopefully some day haha
Loved your video! My sons and I are heading out there in a week to fly fish!

No kidding! I don't blame ya. Those big cutts spawning at the inlet were pretty cool to watch. Definitely a great spot for an otter to snag a meal!
I was in Yellowstone the same time you were. Would have been rad to meet you. Great videos man
David Cortez I appreciate it dude. Small world!
I love your reaction to bison😂
Such a good video!
Just got done hookin up with some cut-throats on a mountain lake here in CO. The colors are poppin!

Good stuff, as usual.
Thanks pink Jay!
Good time 4Sure...Yellowstone crazy packed summertime, myself I go out to the Northwest area the day after Labor day with my 5 and 6wt can't wait .
Dinoxt12 it can be hard to beat the crowds but if you can, so worth it!
Beautiful all the way around!
What's your favorite combo?
I almost had an anxiety attack waiting for him to hook that fish. Lol. Good video.
Kevin Kresowaty hahaha his hook set timing was a little off that day. Thanks!
What camera do you use? Gorgeous footage and great fish.
Great video! What rods are you guys using?
Thanks! Sage X 6wt
Wet wading for the win! Just got back from Rock creek, people acted like they never saw a wet wader before
I think people just assume you're supposed to wear waders while fly fishing haha so uncomfortable in the summer
I agree, I was up on soda butte last summer with my brother and we were wet wading and other fishermen just seemed confused.
Awesome video! Where were you in the park? Lamar Valley?
I was there in August. Lamar Valley.
May the force be with a dude that was wearing the St. Louis Cardinals shirt!
awesome video my dude. we’re you using a four or a five weight on those? it looked like they had you bent over pretty good. i’ve wanted to fish the Yellowstone forever.
Thanks man! I was using a 6 actually haha, those fish have some gusto
PhelpsOntheFly that’s awesome dude. you ever been up to the Spotted Bear or South Fork?
Not yet, been meaning to go up there at some point. The South Fork seems rad
