Today was my first time fly fishing with my dad whom I haven’t talked to in 2 years. And living in Hamilton, Montana made the reconnection and fishing all that much better thanks for the video guys.
I remember watching this video a year or two ago thinking I would never get to flyfish montana but I just got back from a trip on the madison and nearby rivers. Truely world class.

What a hoot. Been into Montana Troutfitters in Bozeman a handfull of times. Tent camped at Red Cliff and fished the Gallatin into The Park. Never caught a grayling. A treat for sure. In Bozeman you need a dog, a bike, climbing gear, flyfishing gear and an excuse to attend Montana State. Maybe a snowboard.
Spent 4 months camping on the Gallatin outside of Bozeman last year. Caught some great fish. Fished a small lake in the mountains called Mystic Lake. Loaded with cutts. Biggest was 24 inches. Love Montana.
I just did a early retirement and I am living full-time out of an old Jeep Cherokee and I just spent three months fly fishing Montana and Idaho. I had the most amazing time of my entire life. Going to do it next year too.

I am fourteen and live in Missoula. I absolutely love it. My three friends and I do a ton of exploring and fishing or the local creeks and rivers. It is a really magical place.
I can relate -- just got back from a week of fishing in Colorado. Idaho and Montana are next. Love our WNC creeks but the West is just different and it calls to you.
Amazing. Just spent a summer out there working and fly fishing outside of West Yellowstone. Awesome video. Recognized almost everywhere in the video and makes me want to go back right this minute.
Campfire Lodge restaurant is one of the best places for breakfast between the lakes. Awesome video and great fishing. Plan on moving there myself some day.
I went to fly fishing when my wife decided to become a traveling nurse. 9 years in I’m in Montana now. Fished the big horn that’s not any big deal but found better fishing in red lodge. Fish ain’t as big but plenty of them. Now headed to the Boulder the next trip. Between Bozeman and west Yellowstone looked killer too
Boys............Your video came up in my recommendations, & I must say say WoW 😮! I came away thinking that I did not just waste 17 minutes of my life watching you guys. Great narration of video too, sometimes it’s those trips that come with a few pitfalls like your buddy getting redirected & showing up later than planned, & then you guys regrouping and picking him up?!? Those are the memorable ones. I too was in Montana last year with my best friend. We did 12 days door to door hauling a nice travel trailer as we had a lot of the creature comforts of home including our own Flycraft drift boat. We camped almost all week along the Madison & then headed to Divide to finish our trip. I too caught several beautiful Browns on a pantry dropper hopper courtesy of Mr Kelly Gallup at the Slide inn but none were the slab of a fish your boy caught. I must’ve watched that clip a dozen times 😂. We shot some video & took a lot of pics but not to the degree that you guys did.....& you know what? I totally agree with your comment, it is VERY hard to film in Montana. The sheer beauty of that state just keeps one in constant awe because for one, you do want to stay in the moment & take as much of it in as you can. I mean that’s why you go right? To fish & be in the moment & hopefully overdose on nature. I tried to explain that to friends and family but I believe you captured the essence in that clip. Thanks for letting me rant on here a bit. I will be subscribing to your channel for sure. I can’t wait to go back next summer as I will be celebrating my 50th birthday out there.
It’s crazy how easy it is to take living in the great American West for granted. It was awesome to hear your reaction to being out here. I live 4-5 hour’s drive from those corners of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming and their incredible waters. I have not taken near enough advantage of them. My brother just bought a cabin 900 feet from the banks of the Henry’s Fork immediately adjacent to Railroad Ranch (Harriman State Park) in Island Park. My brothers, my dad and I are heading to the cabin in 2 weeks for a week of fishing on the Henry’s and the Madison (with the Gallatin, the Gibbon, the Firehole, the Yellowstone and the South Fork as other options). An embarrassment of riches. I vow to never take this place for granted again. Great video. I really, really enjoyed it. I subscribed and can’t wait to watch your other stuff!

I moved out to Pocatello, Idaho in 1981 after hiking the entire Appalachian Trail. I came out to do the PCT. But instead I got all caught up with mountain climbing, backpacking, and skiing in Idaho and Montana. Trout fishing was an added awesome bonus. The Henry's Fork in Island Park and the Railroad Ranch in Harriman State Park, Idaho is my favorite river out here. A few scenes in your video of the cutthroat fishing looked like it might have been on the Henry's Lake outlet below the Henry's Lake dam. A great cutthroat fishery. There is also the South Fork of the Snake. You say someday you would like to move out here....What are you waiting for ? Although, I will say that the eastern Appalachians have plenty of their own charm that I have always loved, and I came to appreciate even more after I moved out here . Still, I never went back, except to visit family and friends. I am now a retired high school teacher, having taught English and Reading for 30 years in Pocatello. I now have even more time to fish....both here and in the midwest for bass and pike, as my wife has a family farm in Indiana. And after 30 years of fly fishing for trout only, I have found I love fishing for bass and pike as much now as I still do for trout, and I don't have to use a fly rod all of the time to get them either....fly, spinning, bait casting, whatever works......It's all great. It's all fun.
You guys should come to the gennesee river in wellsville NY. It's got fish like small and large mouth bass, rock bass, Brooke, brown, and rainbow trout, car, and pike in some parts and the fish get pretty big in some parts.
I get to drive through Montana all the time...don't ever get to fish. See lots of hallowed waters, but never wet a line. Sucks. Really good video, boys! If ya get a chance to make it a bit further West, come fish the Deschutes, Metolius, Fall, etc in Oregon. If ya get down to the SE of Oregon can catch Lahontan and Redband at Mann Lake and streams...and at that point, may as well head a little South to Pyramid in Nevada.

Cool video. I have this cool memory as a little kid going to a restaurant in like Utah or Colorado where you go catch your own rainbow in a man made ditch with 100's of rainbows. Then they cook your trout and serve it to you. As a kid I didn't care for the taste but I just wanted to catch a fish. So I can say I went rainbow trout fishing in the west lol.

Man I miss living in Montana. I was in Kalispell for a few years. The Flathead, Swan and Clark Fork rivers should all be on your bucket list! I guess being back in Oregon isn't so bad though. Salmon, steelhead and ocean fish almost make up for the missing chunk of my sould that is Montana. This vid was so satisfying to watch. You boys are top notch!

I'm with you - Montana is hard to put to words. Just got back from my third trip fishing the North Fork Flathead River and its so hard to leave each time. If you get the chance to go back check out the Bob Marshall Wilderness. And of course...take your camera so we can all share the adventure. Great video.

Very well done! Spent a week out there last month but sadly only got to fish one day. Thankfully it was an absolute banger on the Madison. Y'all captured the vibe of that area so well and I really connected with the line about taking the time to soak it all in and not stay buried in a camera screen, that's exactly what I kept telling myself. Just took a family trip up to Ennis this year to fly fish! It was awesome! Whole family were newbees but we all caught fish and had a great time!

Very well done! Spent a week out there last month but sadly only got to fish one day. Thankfully it was an absolute banger on the Madison. Y'all captured the vibe of that area so well and I really connected with the line about taking the time to soak it all in and not stay buried in a camera screen, that's exactly what I kept telling myself.
