loona predebut activities in 2016-2018 were the only predebut i actually liked since it was something new in kpop, but after 2020 everyone started doing predebut activities and it milked the excitement and evetually got boring
One way that it makes sense is when the group releases pre-debut songs from the competition show they were formed in, since the fans have heard them already. This was the case with VCHA, one of the few groups I've followed since before debut.
This works w comebacks too, born to be by itzy had vids for 8/10 of the songs, only 1 of which was for when the album actually dropped, and nobody knew it had ended because there were so many mvs. I hate the pre-release strategy SO MUCH it’s so confusing is it a bside or is it a tt??!!?! i don't mind pre-debut songs, it's just sad when the "official" debut song afterwards sucks and that is not a rare thing imo
replace predebuts with teasers to generate buzz or what loona did but in a smaller scale
