- A viewer wanted to know what happens to Little Mac when Aran Ryan hits him with his rope while he is going down to the mat. Particularly while Little Mac is low on health. Does Mac fall down at the same time? The answer is in this video!

The reason why this happens is because the game wasn’t programmed to have both fighters be knocked down at the same time
Even then, it would count as a draw
So by that understanding it would be impossible to be knocked down during a trade with Hondo or Aran, correct?
It’s pretty weird seeing as Super Punchout did let you both go down at the same time
No it's because the devs thought about that so the move removed a certain % of Health so you never go to 0 HP.

The amount of damage Mac takes from the rope swing is always a set percentage in relation to his current health so that both fighters won't be knocked down at the same time.
What would’ve happened if it actually did go to zero
@@zebs98 game is not programmed to handle such a situation so probably a softlock at the the least or crash at worst.
@@zebs98 if little Mac had like 1 hp the rope swing would do 0 damage.
the intention is that when a boxer's HP is zero, they cannot knock down Little Mack, so the code prevented Mac from falling down when he got hit. The code knows the boxer's HP was at zero before Mac got hit.

Damn, so they both can’t fall at the same time. Mac only takes 1% of damage when he’s low health when Aran gets him while he’s falling down
it takes half your *current* health
It hurts bad, but the game apparently wasn't programed to accept both fighters down.
This video was just uploaded a few days ago. Aran gets back up and swings on nothing because Little Mac is still down. I'm guessing the game would consider Little Mac the victor if Aran didn't get back up: th-cam.com/users/shortsbhbx5MO1jvQ
Looks like the main purpose of that hit isn't to KO you, but to make you lose all the stars you have instead.
you lose your stars when hit anyway
What about health regen?
Three purposes, actually :
-Lower health
-Lower stamina (hearts)
-Lose stars

Always found it funny the game won’t allow a double knockout. Feels like if it did it should just go to decision by the ref at that point. Seems like it would be a interesting solution to say the least
Thats interesting. Either its 1% like someone else said here before, or your health is being cut in half each time.
And well, its pretty much going to infinitely go in smaller fractions in half, so you cant get knocked down

It is cut in half, It has happened to me so many times to be at full health and get hit by that and half the HP is gone.
Like I hate being perfect in the first few seconds and then half HP and all stars go away.
Hypothetically if you did this over and over and over ( ignoring TKO’s and the fight ending ) wouldn’t the game eventually round macs health to 0?

As cool as avoiding a double knockdown is, i feel like it would make perfect sense for him to keep his balance and not be knocked down if he knocks you down with it, as if he was pretending to be knocked down for the cheap hit
It wouldn't make sense for him to only turn out to have been pretending if he actually hit you, but it would make sense if he *regained* his balance *because* he hit you.

I’ve never seen anyone do this, but I’ve done it.
I’ve done it before, though I just go for the star since it’s harder to counter

I’ve also never seen:
Someone gut punch Sodapop as he’s coming towards you with his uppercuts, (It’s funny)
Or seen many people star punching Bald Bull on his Bull Charge.
You can also hit Sandman TD in the face between his Dreamland Express punches.
Star punch and TKO Macho Man in between spin punches.
Star Punch Contender Great Tiger when he does his Charging Tiger punch.
Don flamenco in between his uno, dos, if you duck on the first one and throw a star punch.
Not sure if you already knew ALL of these.

Bringing in newer indie games to compare this but I noticed something. Mac's stamina is also reduced to 1 on hit from what it seems like.
Minos has a black hole attack that reduces HP to 1.
This confirms Aran Ryan could use black holes.
*Don't give him any black holes.*
I imagine if you got hit enough by it the game might crash or have some kind of issue, but it'd take so many low health hits to get to such a point that the fight would already be over since the maximum is 7 knockdowns in a fight (technically 6, I think TKO always plays the cutscene at least in the 3rd round)
I remember that the special cutscenes only happened when you end the fight with a start punch.

I actually tried this yesterday before you uploaded it, it was cool how if you have like one Health, he does no damage
He does, its just that the lower health you have, the less damage it does. So if you have one health, it’ll do a very tiny amount of damage but still damage nonetheless.
Why couldn’t they have just let it run to 0 and have a double knockdown

champions mode doesn't work either. you cannot go down the same time as your opponent
It’s the only attack in champion’s mode that doesn’t instantly knock you down, staying the same as far as I know.
One would think they'd just remove it if it would do nothing but maybe not@@funnymannotfunny
They made it so that it'll be a fraction based so that Both fighters won't get knocked down potentially corrupting the game. This reminds me of sense in Super Punch Out Bear Hugger Doesn't have a Body Blow Knockdown Sprite so all body blows do 0 damage while Bear Hugger/ Mad Clown is at very low health

I was screwing around with this game one day and found out that it’s possible to IKD him with a gut punch during the headbutt

If you look at uncle joe in his ex fight (election year knockout) his healthbar has a bit of health until the attack is finished if you get knocked out by it he will still have a tiny amount of hp and gets back up
Looks like a Double Knockdown isn't possible in this game.
Reason: if you are low health and knock Aran down and he hits you, it will send you the lowest health you can be at

I’ve tried it several times, and I think it’s impossible. It always will do the cutscene instead of the 10 count
According to Bumbles McFumbles, Aaron Ryan has about 20 infractions under the waistband of his trunks.
Aran literally swings with max force and mac just stares him in the eye
So they just have Mac stop taking damage when he's too low, it seems. I was kinda expecting Aran Ryan to get a small health boost and just have Mac be downed. I guess the devs are nicer people than I am.

I didnt know when you get hitted by Ryan when he's getting down, you recover the same health and stamina (if not why the sound of recovering stamina plays?), I suppose this is to prevent a softlock this game cant handle a draw.
I feel like it would be funnier if when he hits you, he just immediately gets up and the knockdown doesn't count for you getting him. He's basically "oh yea I was faking it"

Interesting to note, it is actually ILLEGAL to throw a punch while going down, but given how little the WVBA seems to care about all the other flagrant infractions in their fights, I don’t think they mind

The answer: your HP drops by 50%. His fall punch can never bring you below 1% HP.

Champions mode does about 1/3 of the health
Champion's Mode just reduces your max HP so low that you would *typically* be knocked out in one hit, but Aran Ryan still only takes out anything around half rounded up. Unfortunately, Little Mac almost immediately restores that HP in count down due to how little he has

@@00F one person said to try it with champions mode on, but I’m certain that the outcome would be the exact same, becuase from this video it seems that the game is programmed to have a cap on how much damage mac can take from the whip if his health is below a certain point and I’m fairly sure that if you modded the game to remove this cap to get Mac knocked down with Aran Ryan, two things could happen, he game would either crash or Mac would be knocked down and it would be as if Aran was never knocked down, however, upon Mac getting up, Arans health would still be at zero, and repeat his falling down animation
The reason why I thought the second outcome could happen how I described it is the fact that you can still instant KO Aran Ryan with a 3 star punch while he’s falling down, which mean the game is still counting Him as up, and if his whip attack did knock down mac too, it would appear as if Aran had regained his balance when the cutscene for Mac getting up triggers, so the game would ignore Aran ryan falling down when Mac falls down, however upon Mac getting up, Arans health would still be at zero, and would result in him repeating his falling down animation once more
