Shaquille Wilkins actually they have been trying to make this movie for ten years. Bobby was the last to come on board it was first going to be on the big screen so everything is not planned they way they thought it would go
Shaquille Wilkins in other interviews they have stated Paramount would have put it on the big screen had it not been for Bobby not wanting to sign his rights away and Mike Bivins actually said this was the one time they actually happy Bobby didn't agree with them. So BET wasn't always in the plan but it was the right decision in the end

That's not what they stated but bottom line if Bobby would have signed it wouldn't have been on BET and everyone but him at the time were ready for it to be on the big screen there is no arguing that
vocally, Ricky is the underdog because his voice was great then and definitely one of the best of New Edition nowadays. Even in 1996 he was holding his own vocally but people don't notice it like that.

I always said Ricky Bell has the best voice of the original members of N.E..The ONLY one who's gift is better is the ACTUAL new edition,NO pun intended,Johnny Gill. I loved the fact that when BBD was created Rick actually got a chance to really shine and I really loved that the mini group BLEW up bigger than any out during that 1st album when they were the ones who were left behind when the other members wanted to pursue their solo careers.

Let me tell you...how this movie has introduced NE to a whole new generation. My 7 yr old nephew has watched it every time it came on. Last night he was on his tablet listening to the Candy Girl album. He made me show him on the movie who the real people were in the group. He was so into it he was asking me about Uncle Brooke. My 13 yr old son has a new found interest in the group because he likes to sing. I have watched this movie every time it was on including on Saturday where I spent about 12 hours doing so. I love it...I could feel the authenticity. The actors were so amazing and I am grateful to the guys for opening up their lives to us. Especially Rick. I was totally taken aback with his substance abuse but I am so happy that it seems that he has taken his recovery seriously and that he appears to be doing well. Overall, it was crazy how off the hook they were. I mean they gave Brooke a heart attack...really y'all????

It cracks me up that Mike is still handling the business for the group since he is the one with the expertise in dealing with record executives. It's really cool that all of them know their lanes and trust each other to handle their area. Mike stepped out of the room to handle that important business and the other two didn't event blink an eye to say they needed to be on the call.

I have a new respect for each member of New Edition after seeing that movie. They went through so much my heart goes out to them. I'm glad they seem to be doing well now. I hope all 6 members go on tour or make a new album. Bobby is my personal favorite but Ronnie is #2 because something about his voice and mannerisms just got me. BBD's new album is great too!

I would like to see Jodeci's story played out as a movie I would also love to see DeBarge because their Unsung episode was so powerful. I have been a NE fan from day one. I 1988 I was pregnant with my first child and my ex husband would always play Al B Sure, Keith Sweat and Michael Cooper Diner for Two....but when NE came out with the Heartbreak album and Can You Stand the Rain that changed the game. It stayed in the cassette player. #NE4Life

How they met is a story in itself ....the fact that Heavy D signed them after they were outside Uptown Records singing and begging to get inside for a week...the fact they left North Carolina and came to New York broke...the fact that they were on the Strictly Business movie soundtrack like Mary J Blige,,,and she blew up with You Remind Me but they didn't blow up until Forever my Lady...the second single from their debut album was released...I Gotta Love was out for damn near a year with a video and got hardly any airplay...the fact that Al B Sure was brought in to be executive producer but Devante Swing was already a capable producer and songwriter...who plays piano, guitar, and drums....little know fact he traveled to Minneapolis before Jodeci went to New York and he wanted to join Prince's inner circle...he ignored him...Suge Knight became their manager...at one point...Devante was robbed at gun point....Missy Elliot, Timbaland , and Ginuwine all were protégés of Devante...Mr Dalvin dated T Boz...they got jerked by Uptown Records and MCA Records wasn't really looking out for them either....the friendly rivalry with Boyz II Men...copycats like H Town tried to duplicate their sound...there is plenty of material for a movie!
My 15 year old is watching dis movie over and over. She's driving me crazy with questions about the group. I put her on the song "This Ones For Me & You" she's loving it! They have fans of all ages now. New Edition wow!! Y'all go get that new money!!! lol
That is definitely a project mentality. Be mad as hell at each other, bloody each other up then still showing love like nothing even happened. It was good they had that spirit. Kept them together and differentiated them from other groups.

CrystalHairston2 Bobby biopic is coming up next. The New Edition biopic was suppose to have been basically a Bobby Brown featuring NE biopic. The group did not want it that way. Now Bobby will get his own 2 night biopic. Also, Bobby is the one who held out to get the 3 night biopic. Some were upset with him for holding out, but they later thanked him. Love Bobby my favorite ❤❤❤. NE4Life.

I can't see why they wouldnt because they revealed so much on their Unsung episode. The reason why the new edition biopic was so epic, was because all 6 members had a hand in the production.
Ron Davis Just write the script around that. Like i said, never say never when it comes to money and hollywood. Its ALL about producing, family cooperation, and the script. They can work around it. As forthcoming as the new edition story was, i'm sure there were incidents that they all were not willing to share.

I have so much respect for NE. After all that they've been through, not only are they still together as a group, but they're still friends. There are so many groups that started as childhood friends that can't stand each other, and have even split into different versions of their original groups. I wish them continued success.

God is good, they kicked out one of the main guys Bobby Brown and he went on and smashed it with 'My perogative'. Mike was lucky that he seemed to be very bright n business minded so he went on to manage other groups, as a person he is definitely a strong character to be respected. It just goes to show you need different characters to make a group. It is soo sad that the beautiful Ralph Tresvant did not go on to fulfill his potential as a solo artist, he sacrificed for his friends.

I'm so happy New Edition got their story out there. BBD got a new album Three Stripes. It's hot! You get classic and current vibes from the record. And hopefully soon New Edition will releasr a compilation album. I'm a fan since I was a little kid in the early 80s.

Ricky is very eloquent. Ronnie also. Michael has the swagger from the hood (like Bobby). Bobby is really a nice guy, I spoke to him in private several times. Ralph is classy. They make a great group they are diverse.
Ralph may come across as classy but he really ain't. A friend of mine is his wife's cousin. They lived in New York in the 90's ( 2 years after Johnny joined the group)for a while and Ralph use to beat her ass on the regular. People are not always what they appear to be. Don't let that "sensitivity" shit fool you.

New Edition, those are my boys. BBD, Bobby Brown, all very talented. Top three of all time in my opinion (yes, I'm biased). Grew up with these dudes. Getting paid for Candy Girl...that's what's up. Love these dudes and their story. Ronny, Bobby, Ricky and Mike, if I like the girl, who cares who you like (Ralph, Johnny).
Glad that they came through all that over the years, cause it's not easy. And they blessed us with unbelievable memories growing up. And to this day

Love these guys and am so happy for their accolades for the past work but also the current work as well.
I really enjoyed the biopic all the way through. There was never a dull moment watching. I'm glad they did this movie because it showed how much of hard workers they are and how they are one of the greatest r&b/pop groups. It seems like their finally getting the credit they deserve. Always thought they didn't enough credit. I'm happy for these guys!
