I'm glad they didn't highlight Bobby Brown in the movie. Because NE fans like myself and others already knew about Bobby on a basic level...but never knew about Ron, Ralph, or Mike PERSONALLY...ESPECIALLY RICKY! Who knew he went through that because you couldn't find anything about Ricky online outside of NE, BBD, and his solo album back in 2000. Then a lot of us didn't know Brooke Payne in a personal level either. So the movie gave us fans a deeper insight of the actual GROUP in and outside of music.
that's right Biv. me and my girls were out there in that rain screaming, singing for our favorite boy band. That star was well deserved!!! 30+ years and still going!!!
After the movie I've become obsessed with these guys all over again. I really have been an NE fan forever. Also fans of them individually BOBBY, BBD, RALPH TRESVANT, AND JOHNNY GILL. 😍😍
Ricky is such an articulate humble man this is what makes a man sexy. Ronnie ages like fine 🍷 and Michael is just coy and shy but at the same time expressive. ☺️ I absolutely love them💋🌹
Respect to the entire NE crew- Bobby, Mike, Ricky, Ralph, Ronnie, Johnny & Brooke!!! The NE movie was top notch- the cast did a wonderful job!!!!! It should have been 5 nights as so much was left out even just going up to 2005. NE movie pt 2 from 2005-2017/18???
wouldnt have minded more insight into their solo projects as well, even the ones that didnt do so well over the years, or the ones that were slept on, like Ricky's solo joint.
As well as seeing them receive NE/solo music awards, the NE/Guy tour fight in 1989 that left 1 person dead, Blue Moon/NE Christmas album era, Ralph's drug issues, how Eddie Murphy helped the fellas out, seen the families move out of the projects, Bad Boy Records/One Love situation, Ricky's solo project Ricardo Campana, Ronnie's rap career and much more....
My 6 year old son has been obsessed with New Edition since this came out. I think this biopic is hands down the best one ever done. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. This has impacted many lives. I promise you
I love this interview it's amazing that NE have gained a new generation of fans after the movie. And rightfully so because this movie is excellent I can't stop watching it myself. It's good to know that the guys have put all their cards on the table and talked out their issues and hopefully the healing process will begin for them as a group. I am patiently waiting for that NE album and tour. :)
Co-signed: and you would think that because of the setting of Empire and Hakim being a rap artist that it would be the same. I didn't see Hakim either, I saw Mike Bivins, and that is a testament to Bryshere Gray's acting chops. That boys got talent.
Biv took it very easy on Angie, because he has been putting the steam on the other NYC radio personalities over not just the last week or 2, but the last few months. Biv is not afraid lol. Shout outs to Biv for going to bat for NE in that major market. He has been trying to get NE the proper attention for years, and he is calling out them all for bandwagon jumping and for any shady comments. And watching them all back pedal is amusing. Especially ebro and envy. Flex too, to an extent. I think this also should put to rest the whole narrative of is their beef between NE and NKOTB. The beef was with Maurice Starr, not the NKOTB. As Biv just said, Donnie knows that NE likes them. Ronnie said he had went to some of their shows too. An NE/NKOTB concert would be historic. A bit of a different demographic, but it could work if marketed properly.
The NE/NKOTB tour was suppose to happen a few years ago along with an album but the only thing that materialized was a song between the 2 groups. A current NE/NKOTB tour would sell out arenas in my mind... NE may sell out arenas by themselves with all the hype they have going for them now.
Nikki Badio theres a clip floating around out there of the making of the song, as well as a handful of live performances that a couple of NE guys did with NKOTB.
September 10th 1996, I cried and begged my mother for almost a month to buy that Home Again CD for me. baby when i saw it I cried!!!!! I will never forget doing extra chores around the house so I could get money for right on magazines just for the New Edition posters and pictures. Y'all have a FAN for life!!!!!!!!
Fuck Tupac. He wasn't that great! Yall need to really get off his dick cuz he's dead. mentioning Tupac is just being Politically Correct but it isn't Real or warranted.
Fuckin LOVE BBD and New Edition even more. I can never get sick of their stories. And I think it so humble of them that they never get sick of telling them over and over again. They seem more humble than I'd expect too.
Crazy how BBD was so overlooked when Ralph, Bobby, Johnny went solo. But Poison Album is second best after Bobby's "Don't Be Cruel". Poison was better then Ralph's solo IMO
R Dumas He's been through a lot. Admittedly some of it was his fault. But he really gets a bad rep. It's nice to see his brothers keeping him in their hearts.
Isaiah Johnson I feel like they all went through a lot tho. I just feel like Bob has this "I'm the star I make the money attitude. " Did you hear what Mike said? Bob thought was "y'all need me to complete the shine" . even with that attitude the boys still didn't want to really sign without him . Ppl only know about Bob because of Whitney. Period.
R Dumas Well I wouldn't say that they just didn't know about Bobby Brown before his marriage. I knew of Bobby before Whitney actually. And let's be honest, out of the six of them, who had the better career? Bell Biv DeVoe? Ralph Tresvant? Johnny Gill? No, now they had success. But not to the level of Bobby.
Your right about him fixing it thankfully 🙌🏿. And idk I feel like ppl my age and younger(25 and below) only know about Bobby because he was married to Whitney . Ppl older than that will prob know his music much better so your right about that
The movie was great! These guys have been through a lot. 30 years in the industry, I consider them legends. The movie was well deserved, everyone wanted to hear their story. I know I did. I luv their Boston accents. I just luv them period! I luv Angie too!
wow I love this group it really takes me back to the glory days I took my 3 sons to their concert at Astroworld in Houston Texas we all loved it and still do
You always hear the phrase, pass the baton. When you talk about Motown, the Temptations, Miracles and all the musical geniuses, you can actually see the baton being passed to these young cats, New Edition. Like that hard core MC, I cried throughout various parts of the movie. And the one scene that took me away was watching the actors in the studio singing Can You Stand the Rain. It was such a nice answer for me to the questions the other members would ask, when are we gonna get a chance to sing? And to see them sitting there together, singing Stand the Rain, and then their reactions at the end, reply that, I want to hear it again. Man, that was so sweet! And I have had so many of my family and friends ask me if I cried too, because they all were shedding tears! And with Trump, the protesting, not knowing what the future holds, this movie was right on time. It gave America a break from the madness to enjoy a lovely, huge piece of musical history and the legacies of the NEW EDITION. So these interviews, which I've watched just as many times as the movie, are the cherry on top!
This was a Really Really good 💯👍interview !!! I'm a guy & gotta say the movie bought a tear to my eyes to bcuz of like new edition song say, "these are the things that change BOYS TO MEN"!! Seeing these guys go GROW thru it all, & never abandoned a memeber, disowned & held a grudge..There's a lesson in that people, #LoveandUnderstanding is what truly matters !!!
Grew up listening to these guys and it was news back then when Bobby left. Good to see they're really getting the recognition that they deserve even though some might say it was long overdue.
What was so dope was how they played music from the era they came up on. At the end, they played the "Let's Get Married" remix by Jagged Edge. The original version appeared on "JE Heartbreak", a album paying homage to NE.
Watch #NewEdition singlehandedly be the reason #HipHopisResurrected. My 12 y/o son LOVED the NE movie as well as the other artist songs featured. He's been YouTubing R&B and HipHop from the 70s and 80s now. Thanks to ALL involved for allowing us to step back in time and relive our youth thru this story!
Just watched the whole Interview. What a wonderful way to top off the Mini Series. Ron was Instagram Live Streaming and said there will possibly be a DVD/ Blue Ray of the NE Movie.
Great group!!! I met three out of six in San Antonio. Ralph, Bobby and Ron were cool as hell. Especially Ralph and Bobby, they talked to me and my boys for an hour like they knew us for years.
this really brings back a lot of great memories I'm surprised I have never caught a New Edition concert I've caught a BBD concert but not a new edition one
It is so beautiful to share my favorite group with my children and nieces. They fell in love too. Singing the songs and watching the movie over and over. 😘😘😘

Felicia Fitzpatrick me too lol 16 times and counting !!! That movie was so very well put together.. I pray nothing but continued success for them in the future ...
I have to say , the reason It was a hard sell : New Edition is a very hood and urban R&B group. And some people that only listen to Mainstream hear all the hits , but they dont know its all connected. My sister text me the night of the movie like... I DIDNT KNOW ABOUT BOYS II MEN ??!! And all through my life when Im watching a documentary or behind the music on the group , my kids are always like , WAIT.. BBD IS IN NEW EDITION?? OR .. BOBBY BROWN WAS IN NEW EDITION??
I am getting misty eyed watching this video. The Jackson's / New Edition...take your pick...my favorite groups. There should have been way more New Edition albums after NE Heart Break. It been what? 27-28 years and only 3x New Edition albums (excluding the solo ones)? I need an NE album now! Make it nostalgic....get Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Babyface, Teddy Riley, Kyle West/Al B Sure, Wokie Stewart, etc....all to contribute production.
I really thought The New Edition Story would unite all of them. Sadly we're only seeing the members of BBD instead. I hope we get to see all 6 members together again soon though.
Antoine Dodson's Bandana Theyrepromoting a new album. And if you listened to the interview then you heard them say they're coming w/ a new NE tour and music.
+Richard Murphy I did listen to the interview and I heard all that. The point I was trying to make, was that the other 3 members of New Edition don't seem to joining these 3 on any of the interviews, which makes me wonder if things are not going so well between them behind the scenes. Either way, I'm really looking forward to new music from New Edition ☺
This was a very interesting interview. I have always loved these young men and the group BBD and New Edition. They still look good. All of them are fine and very talented. Real talent lasts forever when nurtured. Beautiful families, a great example for men, married men, and human beings. They probably pulled your spot MTV because with those designer jackets on they may have felt you shinned too much. You should stand out. Keep up with the good music, good interviews, great life. Shout out to Angie. You go girl.
I never ever comment usually but I really enjoyed this interview. I am a true loyal New Edition fan. Been rock'n with them for 30+ yrs. (not to tell my age) Lol... Ralph has always been my guy of course, but I just want to say I love the way Mike moves😉 and mesmerized by how humble and well spoken Ricky is. I think that's very sexy & breathtaking. New Edition brightens up my day, my spirit, and I will forever love them and wish them all nothing but the best.💋
It's nuts I imitated everything they did growing up me an my friends won so many Cleveland state talent shows doing N,E, bbd lol Bobby was my idol they are the best group of all time..i moved to hip-hop but New edition taught me to perform with attitude
You can tell they've resolved some things since the movie came out. That breakfast club interview last week or so before the movie aired was so tense they sounded bitter. This is much more refreshing to see.
They were honestly bitter.......lol Good 2 see that the fellas recognize that you only live once as they all except Johnny came from the projects to right here and now together as a team. That movie was like therapy for the fellas to understand each others views and sacrifices (Ralph not leaving the fellas behind in the OP projects when Streetwise Records offered him a solo deal) each other made.
Bitter? NOPE! I detected no bitterness at all. It was real talk the good, bad and the ugly. i love the realness. It aint all pretty and they put it out there. Not bitter, better and blessed
I never get tired of their interviews
Nyesha Brooks ... Me neither 😂
Nyesha Brooks ikr
Nyesha Brooks Same girl cause they be telling unexpected tea 😏
likewise I have watched every interview since the movie and the 3 stripes album
Me either!
Ricky is so philosophical. i love to hear him talk
Naturally Oh my god me too!
I'm glad they didn't highlight Bobby Brown in the movie. @Emontre Waters the beat & raped in prison part I’m not sure about...everything else, whew.... he’s a true survivor
Great to see black men rolling together for life...ENDURANCE & POWER.
Yes Indeed🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
the hell? uhm, they've never won a grammy?! "can you stand the rain?" should win one in retro, 'cause that is CLASSIC.
Now that's some crazy bizarre shhhh.. smmfh
that's right Biv. me and my girls were out there in that rain screaming, singing for our favorite boy band. That star was well deserved!!! 30+ years and still going!!!
I love the way Ronnie talks 😂😂😂
Letwap19 SMOOTH LIKE BUTTA
Letwap19 I love him period he's just um um um
Letwap19 he too cool
I know right. He sounds like a cool guy!😎
This is tilfaun. I love bbd! I love Ronnie voice !
They've all had lasting marriages because they knew to "never trust a big butt and smile" lmao 😂😂😂
Antoine Dodson's Bandana Mike's wife has a big butt and a nice smile
Antoine Dodson's Bandana lmao this comment is Golden!! 😂😂😂

they wanted it to be 5 nights. BET said nah, 2 nights. and they fought for 3 nights. and Got it
As epic as the series was I wished they would have gotten the 5 nights as Biv requested.
My 6 year old son has been obsessed with New Edition since this came out. I think this biopic is hands down the best one ever done. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. This has impacted many lives. I promise you
I am so, so happy for these bruthas, I can't say it enough. They deserve all of this attention they are getting right now. Long overdue! #ne4life
BET raised the bar for biopics.
I love Yaz on Empire. And I'll tell you not once did I think of Empire when watching Yaz act as Mike.
Deborah jjo hopefully he can transition over and people not see him as yazz
Co-signed: and you would think that because of the setting of Empire and Hakim being a rap artist that it would be the same. I didn't see Hakim either, I saw Mike Bivins, and that is a testament to Bryshere Gray's acting chops. That boys got talent.
I wanted to comment the same thing. That really takes raw talent. Not alot of actors could do that so well, amd so fresh off of another role.
I live for this group. This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE GROUP of all time. I could listen to their interviews all day long.
Biv took it very easy on Angie, because he has been putting the steam on the other NYC radio personalities over not just the last week or 2, but the last few months. Biv is not afraid lol. +IceManLikeGervin Definitely
The BET series has put them back in demand...deservedly so. Hopefully they can get it together
They also did a song together on an NKOTB album. It's called Full Service.
Nikki Badio theres a clip floating around out there of the making of the song, as well as a handful of live performances that a couple of NE guys did with NKOTB.

YESSSSSSS!! Angie Martinez & BBD..... certified legends in the building!!!
I need tickets to this concert. Taking the whole family. Mom, aunts, uncles, hubby, kids...we in there.
This movie was off the chain. I grew up with New Edition and I have watched the movie too many times. Excellent Excellent movie
Angie does great interviews💞BBD represented well😘
Crazy how BBD was so overlooked when Ralph, Bobby, Johnny went solo. But Poison Album is second best after Bobby's "Don't Be Cruel". Poison was better then Ralph's solo IMO

I never realized how great of a singer Ricky was til I heard the “When will I see you smile again” remix
Y'all sleep on ol slick Rick ❤
This was SO good! I sat in Chipotle and watched the whole thing! 🤣😂🤣

Biv is very outspoken.
You always hear the phrase, pass the baton. i like the sound of Angie's voice. There's a hint of an accent that reminds me of latinas from Spanish Harlem. Great interview!

Love the honesty and unity, the table talk, awesome🎉😘
Great movie, well put together. Enjoyed this podcast. I loved N. E Heartbreak, used to be my favorite. These guys are legends.

38:29 they shout out my big bro wokie, respect to bbd
I really appreciate how real Biv. keeps it. NE4Life
So mature 👍🏾
Great interview!
MY TWIN,HER KIDS AND MY MOM HAVE WATCHED IT 3 TIMES OR MORE EACH. NO LIE.
I cried so much after watching part. 3
I don't think they sounded bitter. I think they sounded honest.
