Just fitted your booster plug and it has transformed the bike by taking away the snatchy throttle as you go from no throttle to rolling on, especially entering corners. Worth every penny and wish I did it sooner. I’m sure Triumph wanted the motor to run this way.
I’ve fitted a Tec X pipe and Booster plug to my Speed Twin and can recommend for a smoother throttle and a much better proper sound, even on standard pipes! Agree with George the Vance and Hines are a lot of money for a minor sound improvement, unless you prefer the look over stock. I’ve tried the progressive springs too, but they need a bit of fine tuning, so the adjustable caps will be needed when available. That no plate relocation looks pretty cool too Well done George
It’s really nice to see honesty say with the remap power commander example. I’ve bought a few of your products to use for my speed master that I’m extremely happy with and I’m fortunate you distribute here in the states. Ironically prior to seeing this vid I am in the market for a new bike and was leaning towards a speed twin. Now I know if I buy one where I’m going for aftermarket kit. It’s refreshing to have found your company truly is. Carry on friend!
I’ve got a bit over 3000 kms on mine now and it’s bog stock. Not really tempted to change anything- I love it as it is. Always had sports Ducatis, which I also love, but the Speed Twin is more licence friendly and makes more sense in the current regulatory environment. It’s not slow by any means - just not really a track bike. Great fun to ride. Sounds splendid out of the box. Doesn’t piss off neighbours and cat is environmentally friendly. Only sips fuel. But the only riding mode you need is Sport.
I'm quite surprised at the fact that there is no adjustments to the forks for this price range. Here in Australia, Speed Twins go for around $19,000, while XSR-900 goes for around $14,000 and has quite a bit more adjustment, while being in a similar bike segment.
You said that the front mudguard is too small and you have produced a sump guard to protect the underneath from crud etc from the road.Any chance of producing a nice shiny metal mudguard?
I love the look of the triumph twins, I think the downpipes tarnishing let down the aesthetic beauty of the world beating exhaust to nicest cylinder configuration ever.
Well I am pretty late to see this vid, but after just buying one of these, I totally agree. I had the Thruxton R and also the T120, and this bike is a good combination of the two. I have fitted your tail tidy and it looks awesome. What I would like, as I go touring, is some side rails so I can sling my throw over panniers over, unfortunately the Bonnie ones don't fit without me modifying. So whenever you get round to the luggage items, will definitely consider them, cheers, Dave
Motobob had a a video on recently featuring the latest Speed Twin with a customiser that featured a few of your items including the de-cat, tall tidy and sump guard.
Nice video George. Just about to collect a 2019 Speed Twin and browsing your website with intent right now. Looking forward to some tinkering over the coming winter.
brilliant video and really excited about the speed twin , i will be getting one at some point , t120 bonny was too much of a sofa for me and the thruxton too uncomfy , apart from a lack of touring ability with the lack a proper screen and as close to perfect for me anyway , i just really hope to see some proper usable touring parts for this bike , defiantly a couple of sizes of screens or some kind of innovation such as a adjustable spoiler or something , and also some options for panniers would be great , maybe some options to work with existing panniers that are on the market ect , but cant wait to see parts coming forward for this platform the speed twin which due to its all round usability i think will be triumphs most successful bike yet
I’ve got a very nice Thruxton R done a lot of work to it I took a short spin around Bangkok on the Speed Twin and I must say it’s a much nicer manageable ride I’ll keep my Thruxton R and will probably go for a Speed Twin as well but I’ll wait for the R version which for sure Triumph will produce later this year for 2020 very informative and practical review Nice One George...!!!
TEC Bike Parts, congratulations on a brilliant presentation of all your add ons, I love the frank honesty about cost versus effectiveness on everything, such a refreshing change from all the normal industry BS! You are obviously a brilliant small company with passion for what you do, and above all else, one that I would actually trust. Are you going to make a 2 into 1 for the 1200 Scrambler soon, or any alternative for the standard system?
Hi we have looked at the exhaust and not easy to make a better high system.and cannot make a low system due to foot pegs location. We are testing various options at the moment .and a de cat is looking the best option.will uploaded a video very soon
Great review! I'm so torn between a Speed Twin and upgrading a few bits like forks and brakes and a Thruxton, and putting sensible bars and top yoke on.. and then there's the spokes on a Thruxton!..
Now then! What would be interesting, would be rear sets for the Street Twin and Street Cup, so that we can change the riding position of the smaller Bonnies to match the Speed Twin and the Thruxton. I've had a look around, and the only off the shelf part I can find to fit the smaller Bonnies was $600.
Hi the only thing we have at the moment is adjustable rider foot pegs, we have sold loads of these to street cup riders to move pegs back with good feedback
So, since there is only one cartridge, it should be mainly for rebound purposes and therefore the bike is under underdamped in compression. Thus, the progressive springs are fixing the compression damping. Is my guess correct? Please let me know if I am wrong.
Ok I am getting triumph Fever . So I never hear about the transmissions. How do they shift , I am riding a v-strom it shift very nice. How do Triumph shift.?
Great informative video George. I think the lack of a centre stand option is pretty poor these days for the money we’re being asked to pay for bikes. Black anodised pipes would be another great option to match the engine, this off colour chrome just looks tatty to me on this model. Also from the side view the clocks look almost horizontal, are they clearly visible especially in strong sunlight? Now subscribed, thanks again
I guess the vance and hines pipes sound better. For me they just look a lot better than the standard ones with the black section. This being about the only styling mistake Triumph made. I guess they did it to sell vance and hines pipes! The rear luggage rack would be really useful, and maybe a sissy bar (that my wife wants!)
I wonder what the Thruxton Spoke Wheels would do for the looks of the Speed Twin, the Twin is a beautiful bike and the options you are talking about adds how much to the cost of the machine?
Question: at the 4:00 mark, are those black fork sleeves between the triple tree and the fork boots? Could you remove them? Would like to see the silver underneath.
@@karlosh2422 The whole Bonnie thing has been done before. Was hoping to see something similar in architecture to the Kawasaki Z900RS, BMW R nine T and Yamaha XSR900 all of which use a "better" mono shock rear.
@@karlosh9286 A mono shock rear usually has the engineers developing a more sophisticated swing-arm and frame also, to accomodate the optimal load location in order to provide control and enhance handling. The arrangement allows the bike to stay better balanced with the greatest amount of contact/traction on the road. Twin shocks can never be as balanced as a mono-shock/set-up and over time can develop unequal balance as both sides are independent of each other. Just like a car can develop greater wear on one shock over the other. Single rear load points eliminates any left or right balance discrpencies. I had a Thruxton 1200 R with the very good Ohlins rear suspension and it never felt as confidence inspiring as what a mono shock would on less than perfect surfaces. Great video George. I've done 2000km on my Speed Twin and I agree with all the points you make. Unlike you I would like to see if having the bars a little higher and closer might add to the comfort, so do you have any plans to look at an up-and-back riser for the bike? I don't think it needs much, but I would like to have the option and I'm hoping you might produce a part. Thoughts?
I would look at the triumph range at your dealer first, as another bike in the range may have what you are looking for. If not we will look at it, but we would need a few people to show interest to tool up to make them in bulk.
Hello George, I'd like to do some of these modifications to my Speed Twin, would I need to disclose what I have done to my insurance company? Do you think it would affect the premiums?
Your upgrades are both attractive and so functional! I love it and it is a great take on the review. Cleaver to combine an advertisement with a review. About to instal my center stand on my 2014 MAG wheel "BonBon"
would like a truxton with a Speed twin ergonomics, not convince with bad suspension bad brakes then the factory throws in sport tyres. And did they sort out the very jerky throttle yet?
Regarding the single cartridge shock in the front forks, is it worth fitting a second one in the other fork leg?. I`ve already got the tail tidy, and am looking to get the progressive front springs, plus the rear shocks, de-cat, and maybe the raider 2-1 pipe. Hopefully, i`l be able to enjoy some spirited riding around the lanes of Dorset soon?.
Hi both...just finished watching latest bike shed guy has made his own alloy parts on old bmw police bike.. it's come to mind that YOURS and other cnc parts are getting way too nice too put on a bike they are proper art works 😉😉😊also those brass bits that stuart Fillingham has previewed too.... they really are superb.👍👍..cheers from dave
I prefer standard bars and risers, and had been considering a Thruxton R with a top yoke swap.....pretty much like the early photos of Triumphs development bike for this model. The R having more premium suspension, but is it really that hard as you suggest, making the Soeed Twin better?
Hi I am planning to do this mod on my thrux R. I think a lot of the hard ride issues are your body weight is to far forward putting load on your arms. I plan to fit some lighter rate rear springs, as I only ride one up, and may modify the forks if I feel it is needed.
Does tec parts have a behind seat gtab bar for a 2005 t100 air cooled? I've looked all over and each time I see something for the t100, it says will not fit my 2005. What is so different about the BB tail end of the chasis for the air cooled than the water cooled? I can't fathom the changes are so different. Thanks for another good video.
I`m looking to do a few mods on mine. Will you be doing a smoked fly screen, decat x pipe, and tail tidy?. Also, with only one cartridge in the forks, would there be any benefit to fit 2 cartridges, can it be done, and would it be worth it, or would it be better to change to the progressive springs for both, and do away with the cartridge. I don`t know what cartridge forks are, what they look like, or how they fit etc etc. Can you do a film explaining and showing them?.
Did you get round to putting the same set up as the speed twin on the r regarding the handle bars and yoke? I'd be dead Keen in changing my r to s more upright position I had the baby thruxton and that was amazingly comfortable.... which can't be said of the r,so I'd love to see what you come up with
I feel bad for you guys, In California very often I'm on what we call "freeways", and yes there's traffic but often there's no and if you go under 70 mph you will get run over by the rest of traffic. I have long arms and when I want to I can ride fairly upright on my TTR. At about 65 mph, you have to bend over or the wind is going to seriously bother you. My kawasaki w650 has the same riding position as the speed twin, and its comfy riding slow, but again, at 65 plus you get killed by the wind. (have a wind screen for it) For TTR owners, its about the look, speed twins don't have it. There was a time, I thought I'd retrofit my TTR, not anymore. The only time its an issue, is after 2 hours with my wife on the back. I'm 56, wifes only 95 lbs, but with her on the back I have a different riding position. That all said, I encounter a lot of TTR riders who just don't ride enough so the TTR bothers them. If you are an average person, and you go and do 10 miles on either bike, you are going to choose the speed twin. If you do that, and you ride it like me and put 6k miles on your speed twin in less than a year, and you are going usa speeds, you are going to find yourself with a big ugly wind screen, or a sore back from leaning with the wrong bar position. Just saying.
Nice video, thanks! What i'd like (except a de-cat, which i will most likely send my Scrambler XC exhaust to you for) is adjustable footpegs that fit the scrambler. If i tippy-toe the OEM pegs i can grip the tank between my knees as opposed to having knees in (too) close proximity to cylinder head on left side and exhaust pipe on the right. Now, do you have any plans making adjustable pegs for the scrambler? I'd guesstimate 25-35 mm would be enough, preferably using the part your foot is on from the originals, but if that's too much work, a setup similar to the ones you show in the video above. Cheers!
I have the round turn signals that function as a tail light on the speed twin. I tried replacing them with triumph turn signals and a British customs tail tidy/brake light but they didn't exactly match up with the harness. Any chance y'all can make a harness to accommodate this?
george milburn hi yes I’ve put Free spirits straight bars on my thruxton r . only because I was going to part x it in for the speed twin and what they offered me for me thruxton it was just not worth it . But I glad I kept the thruxton and did this conversion
this is a great vid, I've been looking at one and test riding one next week, but am a bit reluctant as its a bit trendy, these mods look like it would make it a proper machine.
Someone on triumphrat.net seems to have fitted the shock top to passpeg mount style ones www.triumphrat.net/water-cooled-twins-talk/946574-new-speed-twin-28.html#post2003894174
Im thinking of going down from a 200hp zx14r and have been thinking of a thruxton . Then the speed twin gets released, being lighter. Then I watch this video . Now I am like a kid in a lolly shop. My kwacka handles is quite comfy and will go slow....70mph....without complaint. Torque in spades inn6th....lots of protection....so id buy a thruxton or speed twin and then feel the compulsion to customise it. So what do i do....repeat ive done before, fill my garage up????? Or downsize for my OAP days to one bike, or keep my 2 and get a third???
I had a 2013 Zx1400R that I did a little drag and land speed racing on and have had the Thruxton R since new in 2016. The 1400R was a sensational bike but....I don't have the self control to ride safely and rationally on the street. The Kawasaki was sold and have not missed it. The Thruxton R is a treat on the street in terms of performance, comfort and handling a well balanced bike. Yes I have done a few modifications since I do drag race and do land speed racing with it, just slightly slower. I was at the drag strip recently to test some land speed gearing and fairing and ran against, guess...a Kawasaki Zx1400R. I think despite the gearing I put a scare into him see TH-cam "Thruxton R vs Kawasaki Zx1400R 1/4 mile". I do plan to get one of George's cams in 2020, too bad I can't afford for this August Bonneville run though. If I didn't race it I wouldn't have changed it.
Look into "Nology " coils and spark plug wires ! That and a better air filter, and any mod you can do to the airbox! Makes the engine stronger all around !
Dont know if you can help me but ,i have got a thruxton 2016 (not the R) and i want to change the top head stock so i can put on a different set of bars ,do you know what will fit ??? Thanks in advance See you later mate, care on the road
See the stills at the end of the video, it is a number plate high fitting and retains the nice new alloy guard. If you want to fully loose the fender use the Thruxton tail tidy full kit. I get delivery of a new 1200 scrambler in a couple of weeks and this is the first job on it.

Hi there! If I could ask you knowledgeable guys a question.... I have a Street Twin, it as now 5500km on it... and on two occasions I’ve witnessed acceleration/clutch changes, from one day to the next... Trying to explain in writing isn’t easy... I use to have a bit more torque in first, and the general acceleration sound was a nice bop bop bop And now it seems to me that the bike is winded out very soon in first second and third... and that acceleration sound is now more of a lean rrrrrrr It’s a shame cause I can’t seem to find what’s going on Tha Triumph garage tells me they can’t see anything wrong, but they hadn’t had the bike before and after, so they can’t know
Hi I have not experienced any clutch issues, but I know Triumph has changed the clutch slightly now from early models. the only thing similar that these bikes we have found is engine surge when the tank is getting low caused by lower fuel pressure when the fuel sloshes about, this can happen any time after the fuel light comes on.
They ride massively different ,main differences are Frame geometry/ weight/ power output. The T120 feels heavy and steady compared to the agile speed twin, and the heavy flywheel on the T120 makes the motor less responsive.
You can buy from our US site www.tecbikepartsusa.com. They do not carry the same parts range as UK site, as new parts come to market in UK first, so if the US site does not have it we can ship direct from UK. Just email us.
Great video.. i really like the speed twin, it looks gorgeous!..just want to aks if there is a wheel hub in front/rear for spoke wheels for the speed twin..the alloy rim looks good but i like more the spoke wheels because it looks retro..thanks for sharing your great video.
Hi After a bit of a break due to pressure of orders, (we now have some extra staff) . So I am back in video mode and will try to get out one every week.
Just fitted your booster plug and it has transformed the bike by taking away the snatchy throttle as you go from no throttle to rolling on, especially entering corners. Worth every penny and wish I did it sooner. I’m sure Triumph wanted the motor to run this way.

Nobody cares about your crappy bike 🙄
That will be my dream bike when they upgrade the rear suspension.
Are the Fork Tops a pseudo Northumbrian Motown Band? 😂
Made my day with that comment, well done! :-)
Hello, one question:
Do you have a custom plate holder / back light KIT for the Thruxten R?
If yes...could you show eventually in a video?
Just saying.
what is there difference
Yep, that's my next bike.
Only little detail is to get the money together......🤦♂️😭🙄
Awesome channel
Wish list: Luggage rack, pannier bars, hand guards (wind protection) and a screen that works for touring.
we now have the racks in stock
do the thruxton cafe racer seats fit on the speed twin or for that matter, any cafe racer seats?
Cheers!
Could you install the Speed Twin's calipers and rotors in a standard Thruxton?
Can I ask how would you rate the Royal Enfield 650 to these 1200 triumphs ?
How come you don’t ship to India?
Good honest review; much appreciated.
Have your X-pipe on my T120 and like it. I wish you produced a double walled X-pipe that would give about the same sound levels as stock.
I have the round turn signals that function as a tail light on the speed twin. I tried replacing them with triumph turn signals and a British customs tail tidy/brake light but they didn't exactly match up with the harness. Any chance y'all can make a harness to accommodate this?
Is that a Z900 I spy in the right hand corner of your video?
found this video, looking for info on the idea of the Speed bars on the Thruxton. Has it been done yet?
A couple of companies make top yoke conversions for bars on the Thruxton and thruxton R
george milburn hi yes I’ve put Free spirits straight bars on my thruxton r . only because I was going to part x it in for the speed twin and what they offered me for me thruxton it was just not worth it . But I glad I kept the thruxton and did this conversion
this is a great vid, I've been looking at one and test riding one next week, but am a bit reluctant as its a bit trendy, these mods look like it would make it a proper machine.
This is fantastic info. How do you get this anti stall map you spoke of?
Hi
Only available from triumph dealers and only applicable to certain VIN number bikes
Hi,
Any windscreen recommendations for a 2018 T120?
Great video, thanks. Do the Thruxton pannier rails fit the Speed Twin?
Someone on triumphrat.net seems to have fitted the shock top to passpeg mount style ones www.triumphrat.net/water-cooled-twins-talk/946574-new-speed-twin-28.html#post2003894174
Yes Thruxton panniers will fit as the frames etc are 95% the same
Merry Christmas all..
Will you, can you, do you offer any form of "Comfort Seat".?
Thank you.
BtB
thx best Dad ... can you tell us about and show the scrambler black and white behind please ...
Hi we did a full series of videos on building it see th-cam.com/video/A57qm7-WdAM/w-d-xo.html
How tall are you? I’m 6’ Gonna fit well on me?
14 litre tank gives too little range in the Australian context. Would the larger Thruxton tank/seat fit on the Speed Twin?
Hi
tank rear mount on frame is in different position on both models
Hi
the Thruxton tank although longer is exactly the same capacity at 14.5Lts
It's too small in a UK context too. I want 200 miles range !
You know the formula for the perfect number of motorcycles = one more than you currently own !
Do you also sell custom riders? Just asking... ;-)
Excellent video. Might want to use a tripod for the still work. The moving camera is a little distracting. Thanks!
Hi
I normally do use a tripod but needed to get in close to show the details I was taking about
I didnt even notice. Too busy listening to what hes saying
Love the triumph stuff...know anyone doing the same think for the W800s?
Mines on order awaiting great products for this .... thanks for this .... just subbed ....Fred
The handlebars on this bike are slightly canted forward for me .Is there anyway to raise the bars to make them slightly higher ?
easy way is to change the bars to ones with a higher lift
You could just use spacers under the risers with longer bolts
You need to change the clutch cable for a T 120 type
Hi George I have the your progressive springs in my T120, can I put them in a Speed Twin when I change the bike over?
yes but you will need different spacers as different length
@@TECBikeParts Thanks George. Just gave you a plug on my Speed Twin Facebook group.
Wish this fellow would copRe the speed master to thespped twin.
Look into "Nology " coils and spark plug wires ! That and a better air filter, and any mod you can do to the airbox!
Makes the engine stronger all around !
Nology HT cables are expensive snake oil at best.
Nice video..the RE interceptor would be a much nicer ride with a lot of the custom parts shown here for the street twin
In hand now, new bike has just arrived ,a 650 interceptor for development of new parts see our other videos for weekly series of improvements.
Dont know if you can help me but ,i have got a thruxton 2016 (not the R) and i want to change the top head stock so i can put on a different set of bars ,do you know what will fit ???
Thanks in advance
See you later mate, care on the road
Hi
LSL make a conversion for that
Yup well sorted and Very ride-able bike. I think the Speed twin and the 1200 scramblers are crying out for a 'tail tidy'... anything in the pipeline ?
See the stills at the end of the video, it is a number plate high fitting and retains the nice new alloy guard.
If you want to fully loose the fender use the Thruxton tail tidy full kit.
I get delivery of a new 1200 scrambler in a couple of weeks and this is the first job on it.
Do you produce tec short exhaust for triumph speedtwin? Wait for a shorty exhaust. Love your exhaust tec shorty for street twin the sound superb.
please see - th-cam.com/video/_8rehxpm4C4/w-d-xo.html.
Farmertorque has one of our pre production prototype exhausts see and hear on his video. these will be available from early May 2019 at under £300
Heading to the website now, thanks
I was looking at Ohlins NIX22 and TR845 what do you think
Be patient the r model will be coming soon, I am sure of it
I have NIX22 on my T100. I won't waffle on about them but will say they were worth every penny. I also put Nitrons on the rear. Big money for both but rides beautifully.
how did u know? how did u know i would be watching? 12 years on my kick ass HP increased from 104 to 121 CBR 600 full on canyon mountain HWY 1 to Ojai to Malibu masterpiece. Old man backed over it in his aged Lincoln conti & so long to my always started never broke down Hunda! I LOVE MY THRUX R BUT I HAVE TO GET IT UP U KNOW, UP AS IN I'M REDLINING EVERY PORSCHE, MUSTANG, EVERY DOGE CHARGER & EVERY g d MERC AMG, IT'S LIKE I'VE HAD TOO MUCH TO DRINK & A SWEET YOUNG PIE IS A WAITING ..WHAT CAN I DO? CAN U PLEASE RESPOND SO I CAN CALL YOU FROM CALeeFORNIA ps. love the video
Hi there!
If I could ask you knowledgeable guys a question....
I have a Street Twin, it as now 5500km on it... and on two occasions I’ve witnessed acceleration/clutch changes, from one day to the next...
Trying to explain in writing isn’t easy...
I use to have a bit more torque in first, and the general acceleration sound was a nice bop bop bop
And now it seems to me that the bike is winded out very soon in first second and third... and that acceleration sound is now more of a lean rrrrrrr
It’s a shame cause I can’t seem to find what’s going on
Tha Triumph garage tells me they can’t see anything wrong, but they hadn’t had the bike before and after, so they can’t know
Hi
I have not experienced any clutch issues, but I know Triumph has changed the clutch slightly now from early models. the only thing similar that these bikes we have found is engine surge when the tank is getting low caused by lower fuel pressure when the fuel sloshes about, this can happen any time after the fuel light comes on.
whats the difference between T120 and speed twin ??
They ride massively different ,main differences are Frame geometry/ weight/ power output. The T120 feels heavy and steady compared to the agile speed twin, and the heavy flywheel on the T120 makes the motor less responsive.
@@georgemilburn6213 thank you for the clarification ...
Good practable advice 👍
Where can I buy your accessories in Florida?
You can buy from our US site www.tecbikepartsusa.com. They do not carry the same parts range as UK site, as new parts come to market in UK first, so if the US site does not have it we can ship direct from UK. Just email us.
Great video.. i really like the speed twin, it looks gorgeous!..just want to aks if there is a wheel hub in front/rear for spoke wheels for the speed twin..the alloy rim looks good but i like more the spoke wheels because it looks retro..thanks for sharing your great video.
You could fit the thruxton s wheels ( but they are heavier and you loose something very important . YOU HAVE TO USE TUBES IN THE TIRES !
Best vid I’ve seen of this bike thx
More Videos Please
Hi
After a bit of a break due to pressure of orders, (we now have some extra staff) . So I am back in video mode and will try to get out one every week.
@@georgemilburn6213 Great Looking forward to more of your Videos.
Enjoyed that thanks.
A very cool bike.
He speed twin is fucking perfect
