For all of my GD run I can't wait for Holst to appear. We've got Hilda and all this random characters talk about the amazing Alliance general Lord Holst then he didn't even show up.
Emperor Dude... There’s no other character I’d want to see than Hilda’s brother. He seems like a strong, chill guy who you want to hang out with. Hell, even Nader hung out with him once.
The fact that Caspar doesn't remember his Uncle's face pretimeskip is hilarious. I wonder why he recognized him post-timeskip in other routes as his information sheet says that Caspar refused to go back home and was traveling between the Kingdom and the Alliance until he met his old classmates on the way to Garreg Mach. Then again, Caspar is oblivious to a lot of things...
Randolph himself almost didn't recognize him, before steeling himself to fight his nephew. The stories I heard is that Randolph is actually Caspar's father's half-brother from different mother. Apparently, the mother wanted Randolph to inherit the house despite there was already a legitimate heir and the events that followed caused the mother along with Randolph and Fleche to be estranged from the family. It could explain why they barely know each other.
Caspar's dad and Randolph didn't like each other. Randolph was the favored to get the title of Count Bergliez, but Caspar's Grandfather died before he could change his heir from his firstborn (Caspar's dad, who is apparently ridiculously strong) to Randolph. This probably caused a divide, leading to Caspar never really meeting his uncle properly, just knowing that they are related.
I think Caspar never goes back to the Empire in any route. Hell, even in his ending with Hilda, Holst has to make them marry and take responsibilities in House Goneril.
Just for clarification Caspar states in-game that Randolph and Fleche are born to his grandfather's second wife. Meaning they are his half-uncle and half-aunt. They are also not much older than Caspar. He also mentions that his grandfather's second wife tried to get Randolph named heir to the house instead of Caspar's father the half-brother of Randolph.
Which makes this all the more heartbreaking. Should he be recruited on the Blue Moons route it's arguably worse since he has to watch Fleche die while begging for her brother to save her...after she's cut down by the person who convinced him to switch houses.

Given they make Félix and his own dad fight and outright kill each other they had to do something different there. To not get repetitive. 2 guys who needs to kill their own fathers in other routes? Nah, let's have one dad and one uncle. That's better.

Lol I was just wondering about this on my own Silver Snow run earlier today since I dropped Caspar for Seteth right before Chapter 12. Thank you for doing the job for me!
I dropped Ferdinand and Caspar both and use the rest of the BE + Byleth, Felix, Seteth, Lysithea, Marianne and Leonie. Yeah, most of my team doesn't even consist of BE students lol. I'm gonna use Caspar in the BE run I'm doing after this obviously cause I can't get Seteth.
I actually wanted to have Caspar fight his uncle in my playthrough so I put him at the edge of his range to attack him on the next turn. Unfortunately he suddenly became capable of moving, targeted Byleth, and immediately died. The map ended before I could reverse time and set things up correctly.
Man, I warped Caspar right next to him using Lysithea, but he decides to attack Felix instead and got blasted to hell with Thoron. I was really looking forward to that conversation.
@Daren Fliflet Don't be so sure. We might get more characters than the ones who have been announced thus far. Wave 4 is still roughly 7 months away, so the contents can easily change between now and then....and we might even get some surprise free DLC in the meantime as well.
I think the funniest thing is Caspar can only fight him in routes where he canonically just wanders Fodlan during the Timeskip, so I imagine him one day, at an inn, waking up in a cold sweat and going "THAT WAS MY UNCLE!"

Huh... I had never known that Randolph and Caspar are related. Guess I skipped one too many support convos with Caspar. I gotta admit, Randolph looks quite young to be Caspar's uncle (and here I thought his uncle would look much older...)
I'm wondering if all those weird references does have dialouge in the game or will have some significance in dlcs. I'm 150hrs & 2 2/3 routes into the house and still feel like I know nothing about what's going on in the world and story.
@@Asilva12701 My first route was the normal black eagle one. I didn't really learn anything there. In blue lions I at least learned the truth about Duscur. I'm currently in the golden deer run, but at least till the great battle 99% of those routes were the same. I just hope the golden deer & dictator route may give some more light on the story. Perhabs I just had the worst possible choices made when it comes to my routes.

Golden dear route teaches you the most about history with those who slither and Nemesis and Edelgard's route teaches you about Edelgard. It tries to talk about history but falls flat because the history Edelgard and Hubert know is a lie.

Uncle doesnt have an age implication. Your grandparents could have a second child and that newborn would still be your aunt/uncle
