Teoscar Hernandez projects for 2.3 WAR and got paid a $20.94mil AAV, Tyler O'Neill projects for a 2.0 WAR and got paid a $16.5mil. So that's 2 examples of 2 outfielders who project for around a similar projection, while both those guys are getting paid more on a yearly basis compared to Profar on this years market.
Lindsay to be fair, Anthony Santander was a .235 average hitter this past year while being a 129 wRC+ hitter, so saying that if Kelenic is a .236 hitter, he'd be fine as a 4th outfielder. You know average isn't everything. If Kelenic reverts back to 2021-2023 walk rates, and has a .200-ish ISO while hitting .236, he could be Michael Conforto-ish with better defense.
It's definitely the best case scenario for this team. Coming out of the gate hot can let Atlanta jump to an early lead in the division and not be pushing to chase someone down like last year.
@MassBoost I don't think the Braves want to do that, especially coming off a second elbow surgery. Plus, these types of decisions are not up to the players.
@@eros587 I'm just stating what came from the horse's mouth, it was never stated it was up to the players, it was stated that "the Braves have him on a 1 year plan", it's not Striders plan, he just iterated what he was told. Strider said that the brace surgery has a 9 to 12 month recovery time, thus it looks like the Braves have him on the backend of that recovery time period. Anthopoulos just stated the other day that Strider has already had 5 bullpens so far, and that their plans where for him to have a regular spring training, and so far things seem to be going to plan.
@MassBoost And I am just saying, it is not up to the player to set targets. It is up to the organization, which will be the one on the hook for the money still owed to the player. And coming off a second elbow surgery, it is wise to be on the later side of the calendar. Plus, if anything goes sideways, don’t count on the insurance money.
@MassBoost The Braves have never, ever, ever stated that they have him on any one year plan, they have have always statted they are going to give both (Acuña and Strider) extra time and take it slow, they will not be rushed.
For Acuna I think we could possibly see something closer to his 2018 rookie season for this year, as far as time played and stats. He's going to have just over 7 weeks more healing and rehab time over the last time around should he come back May 2nd. Last time around he had surgery on July 21st of 2021, this time around it was June 5th of 2024 which is 6 weeks and 4 days early in the season, and he plans on coming back 4 days later than last time (April 28th), thus that's just over 7 weeks longer.
@@markharbaugh8878 Over the past 3 years, the OBP of the currently players are as goes Acuna .383, Olson .349, Riley .341 Ozuna .338, Murphy .335, Harris .325, Albies .317. So if not Acuna, Olson has the 2nd highest OBP, but is one of the slowest guys on the team, Riley would be 2nd behind Olson in OBP, and Riley is actually an above average runner sitting in the 66th percentile in sprint speed and is a fairly neutral baserunner, then it's Ozuna who's been a worse runner than Olson on the bases, then Murphy who's been actually a much better baserunner than Olson and Ozuna, while only being slightly worse baserunner than Riley on the bases, then you have Harris, who's been right in the middle of Riley/Murphy, but worse than Acuna in baserunning, Albies has a slightly above average OBP while being in between Harris and Riley/Murphy as a baserunner. Kelenic just has so little data with the Braves to go off of.
@@markharbaugh8878 If you go off of Profar in general over the last few years, he's basically right there with Riley, but Profar might be a 2A to Riley being a 2B, but hard to say, as either have their quirks.

Since the start of 2023 when Murphy came over, Travis d'Arnaud has been a 2.5 fWAR player, while Sean Murphy has been a 5.8 fWAR player. I think you can see who the better catcher is here?
Acuna should NEVER hit leadoff on this team. Too much pressure to be MVP Ronnie. We DONT want him trying to steal 60 bases again. . Off the 2nd ACL. Everybody remembers '22.

I agree, if the average is going to be in the .230s, then those few hits need to be as productive as possible. As Santander’s hits generally are.
Pls God get Acuna back on my bday
I hope Jarred has a hot an amazing first month that would be ❤

@BravesToday That's sounds good to me, and you do a great job her 👏
If Acuña and Strider can both return in May that is good news!!
According to Strider he should likely be back in April, as he stated that the Braves have him on a 1 year plan, and 1 year would be April 13th.

I would prefer cleanup bc getting more ABs w/ more RISP for Ronald seems like a good idea. +4-hole hitters leadoff the 2nd-inn quite regularly.
Who's going to bat leadoff then?

MH is above avg for his position. Don’t see him being a MVP. Keep up the good work.
Trade Ozuna and Kelenic, see what you can get back, have Ronald DH, hes never been a good fielder anyway plus it keeps him out of injury woes somewhat
Do you think it would’ve been a better deal if Atlanta would have kept Travis and got rid of Murphy?

I agree. I love Ronnie, but it’s time to let Michael Harris lead things off. He’s destined for greatness and he needs to be used.
I'd love it if Harris II could be our leadoff man and Ronald 2nd. But MH II needs to improve his OBP to .360 or better.
@tangofett4065 if somebody is going to bat leadoff & have 60 SB attempts on this team...I REALLY hope it's Mikey.
Acuna produces the highest OBP on the team on average on a yearly basis, thus one could very much see why he would and should be the leadoff spot.
@@MassBoost that’s a very good point, but I’d love to see what MH2 can do in his absence.
