- For India, Captain Vikram Batra had an unflinching love. But there’s another side to the braveheart, who sacrificed his life during the Kargil War to defend the nation and his fellow soldiers.
Meet his then girlfriend - Dimple Cheema.
Speaking to The Quint on his birth anniversary, Dimple remembers her memories with Vikram - now from 17 years ago.
It was in 1995 at Punjab University when Dimple first met Vikram. Little did she know that it was just the beginning of a beautiful story that would stay with her forever.
Dimple fondly remembers the initial months she spent with Vikram in Chandigarh. He eventually left college and moved on to bigger things after his selection to the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in 1996.
Their love, however, stayed strong even after Vikram moved to Dehradun. The soon-to-become Captain would come visit her in Chandigarh between his postings.
The love between the two blossomed for four years. They had plans of getting married when Vikram returned from Kargil, but as it turned out, he never did.
But Vikram’s death wasn’t the end of their love story. Dimple after the news decided to return to Chandigarh and live with what she calls “memories worth a lifetime”

She was courageous from the beginning. We can see that she was the one who asked Vikram Sir about his feelings for her. She argued with her father for him and told him that if she doesn't marry Vikram Sir then she would remain unmarried. It was for a reason that their paths crossed and they fell in love, Vikram Sir's courage partly came from being with Dimple Ma'am ❤

Capt Vikram Batra's life is actually as dramatic as it's shown in the movie. And loved how after watching the movie I can feel the real feelings of Dimple Cheema ma'am in this video.

Sid told in an interview, that there are few dialogues which look like they were used for cinematic liberty but that's not true because Capt. Vikram Batra was actually a very filmy guy in real life and hence used some of those dialogues in real life as well.
Dimple couldn't even see Captain Batra for one last time, couldn't be with her beloved for whom she waited for years! What an eternal heartbreak! Can't even imagine how she had been surviving all these years.. salute ma'am.. salute to Captain Batra!😢😭😭

i am a 90 kid..i believe people lost sincerity begining of 90s ..LPG introduced in 90s is i believe the loss of sincerity and people started getting consumed with fakeness..i remwmber the change with the introduction of globilastion..u could see the true effects by 2000.later

I watched Shershaah movie 2 days ago and I still can't thinking about the last scene🥺I knew about Kargil vijay divas but I never know abt CAPTAIN VIKRAM BATRA.....I didn't expect that he would die at the end like evry movie I thought that they would live happily at the end😥😥Oh my god like they deserve something better😔I feel so sry for her.....wish I could meet her someday...I saw that Shershah is very good movie so I decided to watch it.....I didn't know that it was a true story .I only realised at its end🥺❤❤May his soul rest in peace ....what a great soldier❤
