    Information about 2080Ti from the video: The next day I removed the GPU and everything was soldered perfectly. After measuring it turned out that unfortunately the GPU had a short circuit.

    Super Video.

    I've been soldering and such since i was a kid.. For some strange reason its so satisfying to watch flux start to work, even removing tarnish, then the solder beginning to melt, flow and creep into place.. But why?! Haha..

    I would like to say: thank you for what you do here man. Your videos are without doubt the best on youtube for these gpu repairs, and as far as I can tell there is no one, world wide providing as much information on gpu repair. This is what the internet was invented for.
    In other words, well played, sir.
    PS: my Powercolor RX 6900 XT should be arriving any day now, from Arizona, US

    Kris I faced such problem on 2080TI. I put the GPU on the board twice and I had a short circuit 2 times, 2 times I didn’t believe that it could be a ball short circuit (soldering balls), I removed the chip and it turned out that there was a FBDDQ power short circuit, although initially everything was fine. I needed to restart the power supply without the GPU and then the resistance returned to normal, I came to the conclusion that after heating for some reason one of the low-side transistors(drmos lowe side) remains open or something like that. I could not understand something correctly due to poor knowledge of the language.

    The problem with the twist in the PCB from hanging during use is why I use a case that mounts the GPU vertically. The case is bigger to allow for this but it's a good trade for longevity and stability of the PC parts.

    Hey Kris this might not be your issue but on the 2080TI I've had this issue with the gpu rocking on the board after correcting joined solder balls by cutting.. It's hard to cut it perfectly and have correct ball size.. I now twist a piece of solder wick to a point and use the heatgun then replace the balls.. It seems to work great for me..

    If I ever need warranty repair, even though it is free, I rather send it to Kris and pay for a job I know will be well done and I can forget about it. I've dealt with warranty issues in the past various board partners, and there was always something. However, EVGA was the best. Sadly they are now gone.

    Say Kris, about the broken corner. Could ya'll add carbon fibers by hand across the crack after your repair. I mean to strengthen that corner with say carbon fibers from say aircraft construction epoxy additives. Also instead of cheap 5 minute epoxy, nice strong epoxy from larger containers of non-quick fix epoxy. Maybe even conductive JBWeld. To lay on very thin above insulating material, or even very thin sheet stainless.

    Thankyou Kris. Sadly I missed the Live stream but loooking forward to another one of your cracked PCB repairs. I'm Still waiting for tools to arrive so maybe fate is saying wait. After seeing that twisted 2080 ti I'm thinking :( but who knows, if I follow your guidance I will be ok/lucky...Maybe. More live streams are good if good for you and you get to chill with your hounds afterwards. PEACE\/

    Pity you can't get a bios to disable that channel and pull the chips. Lose 2gb of ram, and drop to a 288 bit bus, but gain a working 9gb card.

    Since Asus 3070 have a manufacturing fault with the heatsink, maybe explain why this fault with overheating is occurring by communicating to the customer. I do not know if you already do this or not. If you told the customer the fix was liquid cooling it may make all the difference when the manufacturer is at fault. I would think a broken corner on the card could be corrected with more appropriate shipment packaging. This is a dead loss for the manufacturer and for you on the overheating issue.

    I have a rtx 3060 ti zotac twin edge, same pcb a shown on the video. Could you point it out which cases that causes this type of card to possibly fail? I mean, when you get any graphics card and you start to analyze, issues can come from faulty components, maybe capacitors, Drmos, pwm controller and unfortunally a dead chip gpu. But, i would like to know what causes these components to fail. Is that for a bad project design of the board or may be some alterations on the residential electric system? I have watched your video of this card placing protection fuses. But, im wondering maybe i would do this modification. Feel free to get under in technical terms if you want it. I would be glad if you could answer. Thank you for attention.

    • @KrisFixGermany
      @KrisFixGermany  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any component can fail, we don't spend time investigating why and how. That is the manufacturer's task

       @KrisFixGermany I forgot to introduce myself 😅, I`m Jobson. As i said before, i have this rtx 3060ti twin edge. I will put a watercooler block in this card because here on Brazil is really hot. If you let me to share a thought discussion, i have seen extreme overclockers run them cards with LN2 at subzero temperatures to cold down the the card, gpu, components and reach higher clocks speeds. Assuming that, in normal use, components running colder will performance better and will last longer. Do you think if i waterblock that card will descrease the probability to fail or that pcb trace problem shown on your video will occur no matter what? Thank you once again.

    that is a 2080 non-ti I believe, the ti has the gpu flipped sideways to the right side and also it only has 8GB of GDDR6, correct me if I am wrong, just an observation.

    Lets clear something.In one of the vids Kris mentioned that I believe it was 3080 had memory heating issues,were Micron chips.
    I have in plan to buy RTX 3080, but now I am confused cuz I believe all of them have Micron chips..Does it mean all of them will fail?Should I avoid 3080/3090 series and go with 3070?Thx.

    • @KrisFixGermany
      @KrisFixGermany  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no problem if the cooler is good. For 3090 water cooler is must have.
