why is a flying boss with no arms or legs hitting the floor to drop rocks from the ceiling (by which i mean to say, itd make more sense for it to headbutt the ceiling than bodyslam the floor) (after it hits the ceiling 3 times it gets the stunlock stars atop its head and falls to the floor vulnerable)

Please can you add an option to turn off hit pause because some people like me dont like the thing for example in hollow knight the option dont exist and it discourage me.

I think the heavy inspiration is doing your project a disservice where people are dismissing it as "another one of these" and not even seeing your game.
I would get rid of the fence graphics, foreground ivies and some of the UI styling you have clearly borrowed from you-know-where. Maybe some African decorations, makeshift wood fence, voodoo dolls, etc. Background has too much going on and the enemies and actual important stuff is drowning in the visual clutter. The hues and saturations are going wild and it's not very coherent with the gameplay or aesthetically pleasing.
Overall develop your own style that fits YOUR character, work with the color palettes. I know everything is placeholder but the videos and gifs are already going out there, there's so much more to be gained if you had unique and memorable design. I'm staying tuned and wishing you all the luck!
