    We are so blessed with this beautiful river🤗 ❤ from Frederic, WI

      That we are! We just finished the St. Croix last year and will finish paddling it's main tributary in a few weeks. I met a guy from Frederic by the name of Jeff Butler. He also paddled the whole river in just two weeks.

    Very nice job on this video! Quite immersive -- and the drone footage was outstanding. The only part of the St. Croix I've paddled is the section below where the Namekagon feeds in, which was the last day of a Namekagon trip. I need to get over and make up for what I've missed.

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I should have got some footage of the confluence of Namekagon. Love that house that's right on the corner where the rivers meet.
      Definitely having some fun with the drone.

    I wish you would have had filmed going through Big Fish Trap Rapids. With the low water you had, curious how much you woul have had to wade through

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea I don't remember either. It can get a little hard filming or getting the camera out in time when coming up on rapids.

    Hi Kevin, my friends and I are looking to do a trip just like this. I was wondering what permits if any we need to get to make sure we abide by any laws or regulations. Also how do you get back to your vehicle (assuming you drove there). I've seen there are shuttle services along the rivers but don't understand how they work. Thanks great video!

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      First come first serve, no permit needed. At least for the northern sections that we did. We had someone drop us off and pick us up with a trailer big enough for both canoes. Otherwise we would take two cars. Unload canoes at the put in, then go park one of the vehicles at take out. Drive back to the put in and start the trip.
      I've Never used a shuttle service on this river.

      Ok awesome, thanks for the quick response. One more question, is the limited campsites something to worry about? Im sure it depends on what time you go in the season but for when you went did you have issues finding a campsite?

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We had no issues, every site was empty. Keep in mind this was the northern most part of the river. The further down the busier it gets. It is also very shallow at times and I think that might deter a lot of people from doing this stretch. It gets wider and deeper the further south you go also. Might want to check the river level before going. There is a hotline number listed on the website.

    do you recall or have any idea what the USGS gauge at Danbury was reading for this trip? Thanks. Great video by the way

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I don't remember what the gauge read. We did different sections each year and dealt with record flooding followed by record low levels. Either way it was still a great experience.

    Did you bring your own wood? Did some of the Namakagon and finding would at camp was impossible and current to strong to go in search of it.

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We brought a bag of fatwood but it wasn't much. We managed to gather enough for a fire every night but slim pickings.

    Hi Kevin, great job on the video. i just finished the paddling the mississippi this year and was looking at the st. croix for 2020. did you need special permission to use a drone? i like to film my trips and would love to bring the drone with...

      @UpNorthAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Didn't get permission and found out afterwards that I shouldn't have been flying it there. Opps! So the intro for the rest of this series is from drone footage I already used. Thanks for watching.

      @@UpNorthAdventures its all good, i was just wondering. after doing the mississippi i realized real quickly that the drone footage really makes a difference in the series. its hard to shoot footage of trees and mud for 62 days and still have something to talk about. the drone brings another level to the story! i was talking with the Wisconsin dnr and they have a special permission form im going to fill out. hopefully i can work something out... thanks!!

      @@UpNorthAdventures What time of year did you guys go?

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it was late June. The upper stretch is rocky so it's best run in the spring or when water is high.
