    Glad to see Brenton's interview. With you Ted he's a nice guy has a good channel he gets very insightful i don't think he realizes it but i believe he has a book in him worth telling.

      He did a very good job. I told him I thought he found a good niche doing interviews. Unfortunately, he had to use a lower video quality because his newer phone would not connect to his mics. He went back to his old phone for the interview which forced him to do the video at a lower resolution. Still it turned out quite good.

    Came over from back roads as well. Never was interested in a sailboat but a shanty boat feels right to me. Like you said, no reason to stay at a motel or hotel when you can pull your boat and stay in it. I imagine that saves a lot of money. Lots of Walmart parking lots around and they would probably say nothing to you, especially if you bought supplies there. Fair winds my friend, I like the idea of going where there is not a lot of people.

      Glad to have you! I hope you enjoy following along on some of the adventures.
      You are right about saving money when I stay aboard trailering to a destination or returning home from a longer trip taking more than a day's drive. However, I probably save more by being totally self sufficient on trips.
      When I leave home, other than putting gas in the truck or buying lunch, I do not require and fuel, food, electric power, or water resupply. I carry everything I need for up to three weeks, not to just save money, but because often there is no resupply even if you desired it!
      My trips are deliberately oriented to wilderness settings. Occasionally, there may be cabins, or back country resorts, but I never count on finding a source of resupply. Often there is no VHF radio communication or cell coverage so I have to count on satellite communication for safety.
      Thanks for your comments!

      Thanks for your comment. Normally I don't fish much, mostly I kayak and hike, but I will be fishing on my next trip to Lake Nipigon in Ontario. Hopefully, I will have some "tight lines."

      Thanks Frank for your comment. You may want to check out "The Build" series of videos for more build information. I did not build the original house myself but tried to pass on the basics of the build from the previous owner and my own experience.
      The original build was for duck hunting on the Mississippi using it as a base to work from with smaller duck hunting skiffs. The idea was to go out for a long weekend of hunting so it was built with that in mind not the two to three week wilderness trips I take. My contribution was primarily to convert the boat for two or three week trips into the wilds without shore support or resupply.
      Over time I hope to add more videos to "The Build" series but in the meantime you can pick up a lot by simply watching the videos of the various trips in the "Playlist." In some episodes I discuss various features of the boat and modifications I've made. You can also check out the following walk through video which is an interview by Brenton from Back Waters and Back Roads: th-cam.com/video/menfpVy2MqQ/w-d-xo.html.
      Thanks for coming along for the ride!

    Are you going as far as the dam north of St. Croiux Falls ? The current is quite fast there !

    • @ShantySanctuary
      @ShantySanctuary  ปีที่แล้ว

      Never made it that far north, though I had planned to get close. In the end, I decided to stay in the area I was in since I had a limited trip this time.
      Just returned from a 3 week trip to Lake Nipigon, Ontario. Quite the trial in comparison to the St. Croix River.

    If that first does not snack of the day's times I don't know what does, but I guess it also smacked in the time that it was quoted also😢

      I assume you must have been referring to the verse at the beginning. Wasn't sure until I looked further at your comment and some of the video. Thanks for your comment.

    Next get a drone. Some can lock onto your boat while you pilot.

    • @ShantySanctuary
      @ShantySanctuary  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you watched past videos you would have seen several drone flights. Unfortunately, you can't fly a drone in a National Park and the St. Croix River is a National Scenic Riverway. I have two drones.
