In late August of 2023, we headed up to northern Minnesota for our first ever Boundary Waters experience. Upon completing the 13+ hour drive from Metro-Detroit, we were met with an incredibly fulfilling and memorable journey. We embark on our expedition out of EP 23 (Mudro Creek) and traverse through Fourtown, the Horse River, Basswood, Crooked, Wagosh, Gun, Boot and back out to complete an epic 8-day, 40mi/64km loop. Along the way we endure low water obstacles but are rewarded with magnificent landscapes and remarkable fishing.

Great to see you and your boys loving nature and creating life long memories. My 30 yr old daughter still does trips with me. No better way to spend time! I use parchment paper for noodles on my dehydrated meals but I’ll try the paper bag trick. Nice video - I know how hard it is to video and travel at the same time. Keep it up 👍 I’ve subscribed to follow the journey. Heading up to Algonquin next month for a final trip of the season. Cheers from Ontario (Windsor born), and yes we pronounce portage the French way😊

Thank you so much! Keep at it making those memories, that’s what it’s all about. Haha, love the portage comment… this has created more controversy than I could’ve ever imagined, lol.

Great video! The only problem I had was how you said portage. It made me question if I have been saying it wrong my whole life. 😂 Either looks like you had an awesome trip.

Thank you so much! The word comes from French and specifically the Voyageurs, and is the common pronunciation in Canada. Being from Detroit area so close to Ontario and probably more so from learning from Ontario guys, I took on that pronunciation in my lexicon. Although, I tend to use the “American” pronunciation to describe a place, i.e., a specific portage or the city of Portage, MI.

Hey bud, don't try too hard, and push things. You achieved more than most in this scenario.
I recommend instrumental music, and work on segues for next video.

Remember, tho, that was a one-in-howevermany years of a drought. All of Minnesota suffered low-water levels, heck, I only mowed 4 times last year.
