The author does like to from scratch, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

You asked what is in my bug out bag:
Medical Supplies - A big first aid kit, burn gel, several Israeli bandages, some gun shot/deep wound kits, extra gaze, bandages, saline.
Survival Supplies - A Knife, 2 lamps, a flashlight, a small saw, compass, a multi-tool, small tent, emergency blankets, poncho, paracord, lighter.
Other Supplies - 2 Small power supplies with USB and Phone connections for charging, batteries for a week or two for the lights.
Food Supplies - 10 Bottles of Water, Trail Mix, Granola Bars, Tuna Packets, Mayo, Crackers, Chips.
Everything is inside of a large military duffle bag that uses a molle system.
I made this bag, and keep it supplied when I can, about 5-6 years ago. Our power went out, my Grandfather was slightly injured, and we couldn't leave the house because of downed power lines. Always good to be prepared, since then this bag helped save my Grandmother's life from a very deep injury she sustained, as well as having water after flooding.

that's a cute coffin.... might want to revisit your fresh air filter idea--I don't see much airflow going through one gas mask filter for multiple people that will get rained on and degrade in the elements... i would worry about carbon monoxide poisoning--or methane with beans being the primary source of food🤣🤣🤣

You're right. Most shelters have a way to filter air. Some are manually run and some run on electricity. Either way, the air is cleaned and circulated throughout the shelter.

Yeah pretty sure they would die if they actually stayed in the shelter overnight. No air coming in that filter those chem suit filters are forced flow only. Air intake pipe filter should be inside. Also air intake pipe needs to be in the shape of a candy cane to prevent water from entering. And you need alot more airflow than a 1 inch tube. Especially if u have alot of ppl and candles. Also concrete is alot better than dirt. Aside from that its a pretty good idea

You should consult the Atlas Bunker guys videos. He has a lot of advise on how much soil you need to keep out radiation the 90° angles etc. Air cleaners etc.. For nuclear hardened. Love to see you build a hardened bunker out of junk or found items. Just show ideas!!! Just a safety note you need an air in and an air out and something to move the air if you ever make that bunker air tight you would not have enough fresh air exchange.

Seriously. I have purchased a 5 x 5 x 4 dog kennel. I'm gonna use boxes with huge trashbags to hold water mixed with boric acid. To build up the outer wall then fill in between the kennel and the boxes with 2 gallon bags of water with boric acid. I'm also gonna build up the roof with basically borated water. It's not a lot of room but it's enough for us to lie down. Potty, food and water supplies at least for 72 hours. Then I'll go out for brief things in the house but my son will have to stay in there for a while. The science of it seems sound. We'll be shielded primarily by 24in of borated water. It's not as good as being underground but it might be good enough to prevent serious problems. I have Apple pectin and potassium iodide tablets.

you're off with a basic good start. but there's much to improve upon. door thickness.... dirt above must be at least 28" thick packed. entrance area must be "funneled" outward, and with cover overhead. potty-jon? better long-term non contaminated air and water supply.... insulation against condensation....bunches of salt! buckets with sealable lids preferably plastic drywall buckets! more food! more wipes for hygiene, antibiotics, etc etc etc. you must have several caches because after you are safe to leave bunker, you may not be returning to your normal living arrangements for a while, and, maybe never! seeds, more food, more bottles of water, life straws, clothes and boots and coats per seasons of weather!!!! I'm glad you kept this video simple, and that you included a friend and your wonderful family! It's the reality of things that may help people to "prepare for the worst, even though we must still hope for the best! oh, and be sure that you are part of a good "tribe" should shtf!!!!! Hilarious video with a perfect ending. I love the slow motion in the last 2 seconds, makes it epic and leaves us on a MSR cliffhanger, ( Tune in next week for episode 2 - 'The Rise of The Wooded Beardsman').

Hey neighbor! Man did you hit on a subject that my family thinks I'm crazy for!(they don't think I'm that bad anymore because I was prepared for the pandemic and they weren't) I have so many tips for you!
Crayons can be candles for 30 minutes (leave the wrapper on)
Put the flashlight under/next to the water bottle and you have a light bottle. Put your electronics on cardboard or styrofoam and your shelter becomes a faraday cage
I'm not a huge advocate of actual weapons because if you don't know how to use them then they can be used against you. Therefore, finding weapons in every day items is key. The dowel is perfect because it can be a stick, a wrench, an umbrella, etc... You may need money so in your bag keep a roll of quarters. Hold them in your fist when you punch for extra strength and if you add some heavy rings onto your fingers now you have "brass knuckles".
I know you will have socks so put your soap, a rock, a handful of change, or anything else that is hard and use it as a weapon.
If it gets down to hand to hand there are a few simple things I teach everyone
    * if they can't see they can't follow, go for the eyes with a thumb and gouge it out
*if they can't breathe they can't follow, punch the throat, even if you don't punch really hard their trachea will start to swell and close the airway eventually.
*if they can't walk they can't follow, take the knee out by kicking it from either side
    * if they aren't awake they can't follow, hit the side of the neck with a swift stiff knife hand chop and they will pass out. Even an old lady can hit a muscle man with her forearm or cane and he will drop.
If you wish to avoid physical contact invite them to dinner and exchange the oregano with foxglove or any other indigenous poisonous plant.
For running away get a high decibel keyring thing or home defense item for windows and use the flashing mode on your flashlight. This will disorient them enough for you to run.
Osage orange is a good hedge to have around your property.
I know several booby traps you can make.
I know every day chemicals you can mix. There's so much I could teach you but you are probably thinking I'm crazy at this point. Which you're not far off! Ex military, taekwondo, nurse, and prepper. You pick stuff up along the way ya know what I mean?
I'm glad you made a shelter, it's a wise thing to do. Although I think Don was more comfortable in the root cellar because he had a cot! I think Rachel was a good sport for sleeping in it with you and your daughter and the dog and was the chicken still there? 🤔😂 You definitely have a wonderful woman to face the end of the world with! Make sure you give them a big hug and heat up that sauna for her! ✌💜🐖💨

Well judging by the size of that it's only good for one person. And if a nuclear bomb was around I would suggest staying in there for at least 3 weeks. Get yourself a walkie-talkie. 3 weeks of water. 3 weeks of food. 3 weeks of toilet paper. Flashlights and a hell of a lot of batteries.
Plastic tape strong tape. And a escape route just in case the front door is cluttered with something and you can't open the door.

Few small cans of canned beans. 1 full MRE. Portable fold up axe/shovel. Rope, twine, fishing line, mini fishing set, multiple knifes,
40, s&w with tac light. Solar brick, flares, chem stick, portable HAM radio, And probably a few more main ones I just forgot to mention. Yes this all fits in one bag weighing 31.2 pounds.
Edit, 2 bottles of water. Food and drinks, and any other items that may need to be checked or replaced as in going bad, are done so regularly. Bag stays in my truck any where I go 24:7

Fyi, you can't allow that filter to get wet. It will be useless. I'd use another pipe that's a "u" then attach the filter to it. I'd also get a small computer fan for intake air attached to the inlet pipe.

  • @raykarl2119

    • @v2joecr
      @v2joecr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

It would also make it harder for someone to mess with it with the filter being inside. Atlas survival shelters makes shelters & thinks about things to do for a nuclear fallout situation. I only mention that because of you talking about lead. having a 90-degree entrance helps with one of the particles & burying it also helps are the few things I remember for that.

Somebody would love to live in that lil bunker full time . If I could build me a bunker it would be a lil bigger to also fit a bed and more stuff but I love you bed table setup . I would take the wood off of it and keep the door then replace the wood with thick concrete walls . But concrete is so expensive these days . My mama said that sometimes we have to work with what we have like you did . I would build some type of thick gate in front of that lil bunker to be more safer . But your lil bunker is better then nothing for protection . Its just so beautiful . I just love it . Miss . Linda ❤
