      That's very generous of you, Zack. I am really impressed with your building skills. All those curves are very sexy! Given more time, I think you will work out the few kinks and give the glamper its final finishing touches. Can't wait. Congrats.

      I think if you two had gone in with a friendly competition in mind from the beginning, the final products for both of you would have been even better.
      Great job, guys!!

      Zach, if you had a more badass truck instead of your little mouse to match, your camper would be killing it.

    From the start, Ryan was very helpful and is continuing to be helpful about his th-cam.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans . Also, they have answered all the questions I have asked & I got outstanding support from his My Shed Plans full package.

    You had the very things he needed and he had the very glamping ideas you needed. For example: Fowler = TV, microwave, air fryer, hot plate etc. oh and a comfy bed. You: tables, wood stove, insulation, and overall aesthetics. Now come to think of it, Fowler had the very essence of what glamping means (you know, stuff most ppl wouldn’t bring to camp). So I’m going to say that 🎉Fowler wins. 🎉Now, let’s see you guys put both camper ideas into one!

    Wow ,with so many becoming homeless during the pandemic this could be an answer ,a micro camper made with a lot of recycled parts . It answers the basic parts , safety , cooking , sleeping , add a luggable loo . Kevin you and your wonderful crew knocked it out of the ball park .

    • @jaycanpaint2533

      takes a few thousand for this build. the reality is these are regulated and you would need land where the codes are overlooked. needing sanitation would be a major issue. water also. if i were spending the money i would suggest a large tent for $200, and 10 moving blankets from harbor freight for insulation and a large tarp to cover. 1 expensive warm sleeping bag and a car inverter (not the expensive unit seen here). the truth is 10 “homeless” would be far better off combining resources to live in a house like many foreigner communities do to get off their feet.

    I love your finishes and the upcycling of garage doors. I think you win with your functionality, air flow and how you don't have to crawl into it. Zack had good air resistance and who can fault his expertise with wood and angles. Loved his gadgets that truly put the "glamp" into his build. I say a win for you, but can't wait to see Zach's 2.0 version.

  • @Khopeless
    @Khopeless 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    I know Zach had less time to build his glamper, but my first thought while watching Zach's build is hes gonna bake in his glamper during the summer with no windows.. the salvaged materials, fold out cot/countertops and utilizing the outside camper space for functionality is what really tipped the scales in your favor. Oh, and the mini wood burner is just *chefs kiss*

    I, appreciate some of Zach's boat building skills while building his wood camper. But, I, really like Kevin's use of garage doors & sealing of of his joints for weatherproofing. Kevin, has windows & insulation... got to give the win to Kevin. Both campers are really cool.

  • @MrGrimsmith
    @MrGrimsmith 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Much as I think Zach did a great job, you have him beaten hands down for functionality. I was taking notes watching your build as I go camping a few weekends a year with a friend and we're both too old and knackered to rough it any more but too broke for anything fancy. We've been running a DIY tunnel tent made from a couple of tarps, scavenged poles and cobbled together scrap metal for a couple of years, I think it's time we upped our game!

All the hard shaping of the wood that he had to do that was amazing the way it came out.

    I like both yours and Zach’s outfits, but I have to say yours is “more glampy”. Love it! I like that you can stand up to walk through it, and the main thing I like about yours is it has the 2 windows. I am claustrophobic, so windows would be a “must have” item. If Zach’s had a window, that would make a difference.

    I love the outside look of the build & the cooking platform/ pan storage & the lighting. Inside I really like the desk & burner. I think the bed folding up against the wall is great in theory, but I think when its folded, it obscures the lovley window. Think it would look better & maybe offer a better solution by making a Sofa bed that would stay where it is & not fold up against the window. It would then look good in the day as a Sofa & be a bed at night. But I think its an awesome build & looks very cosy & sturdy too! Happy Camping! 😊 🏕👍

    Your trailer vs Fowler's, hands down victor... Fowler didn't come close to the level of detail in his trailer.

    Not one, not two, but three windows for the win! Seating is a plus as well.

    I like Fowlers design but love the fact that this one is insulated and has a heat source for all season camping. If I had to choose, I feel like I would be better able to build this one myself.

    Hmm. I can't actually say, so it would have to be a tie?
    This one ;
    PROS -
    Love the garage door insulation idea!
    Love the tiny wood stove!
    Love the lights!
    Love the foldable stuff for space!
    Love the windows and view!
    Love the outside shelf area!
    Love the door overhang for weather!
    Love the amount of interior space!
    Light weight and waterproofing, could totally be a tiny camper BOAT (would love to see That, like red-beards tote pontoon boat camper)
    CONS-
    No screens for bugs or wind-blown debris.
    Overall shape is ok but very square for road winds.
    Stove pipe not folding or removable (hit branch on video lol)
    Not enough 'amenities' to consider "glamping" (mr Red-beard had a microwave, fryer, AND tv ;P )
    Overall, great camper 8/10!

    Loaded with features, that little wood stove makes it so cozy.

    Really cute. I've seen in other videos with those little tiny stoves or any of those stoves, you need to burn them off outside before putting them inside because when you light it it's going to emit the smell of the paint and metal.

    Fantastic camper! I hope to one day make a camper from a small trailer, but it would be much more basic and rustic looking. As long as it has a place to sleep, a couple of windows and a small wood burner, that's all I need.

    Ok...I went over to Fowler's Makery and Mischief and compared both your builds......the winner is, hands down, Modern Self Reliance! Good going ya'all, both teams.

    U win. It's about all the small details you put into it that would make using it much more convenient. Zack made his whole thing out of wood; I'm curious to see the longevity of both campers.

    Fanastic. Love it. I would have not had a long bed though. Id build a storage box just big enough to place a tri-folding mattress (chair/bed) on. But I'm only 5'3".

    Both of the glampers were nice, but I prefer not to have to crawl over my bed. YOU WIN! I love the outside sink and the shower with running water. Very cleaver.
