    I just got the Tissot Tradition Powermatic 80 Open Heart while traveling in Switzerland a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I'm a little shocked seeing how much cheaper you seem to have found it on Amazon, but I'll suck up the extra cash I dropped on it since we did buy it somewhat as a souvenir of the trip. It's the first mechanical watch I've ever owned and I find myself just staring at the movement all day long. Thanks for the video ... I can't get enough watch content now that I've entered this world.

    I think the decider for me would be the sapphire cover and the open heart being at 12. WIN for Tissot!⌚✌

    Kind of a no contest here, the Tissot has sapphire, and the movement is far superior with the 80h reserve (vs 40h for Seiko).
    The only thing I can give to Seiko, is that the Presage (I own one) has killer dials...
    Wonderful video Matt, keep educating us! 👍

    Seiko and their proprietary hardlex is plain annoying, especially in that price range. Tissot for me!

  • @JusttheWatch
    @JusttheWatch 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I'd take the Tissot. I love the dial on the Cocktail time, but the thinner case, sapphire crystal and better movement all make the Tissot a more appealing option to me. Great comparison!

    I like both brands but to me Seiko usually has the edge on aesthetics. Difficult to pin down but with Tissot the dials in particular often seem a little bland and generic with not enough thought given to detailing. They are decent quality watches no question but Seiko designs have more character somehow. My advice to Tissot would be to save some money by dropping the rather OTT fancy packaging and spend it on the dials instead.

    • @BeerandWatches
      @BeerandWatches  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmmm that's actually a good point you raise re the Tissot packaging. I am usually all for a little bit extra spent on packaging for the overall watch unboxing experience but Tissot do go over the top more than everyone else with the two glossy books included with each box too. I do agree the Seiko dial has a lot more attention to detail. I do love my Tissot but that Seiko, man, I got to get one of those.
      Thanks for the input and enjoy your weekend. Best. MJ

    Seiko every time for me over Tissot. It’s a personal preference. Sapphire or Hardlex? Never had any issues with Seiko Hardlex. 80 or 40 hour power reserve? Makes no difference to me. I wear a watch and switch it out. It’s usually a long time before I get back to it. But if one only has a couple of watches I could see the benefit of 80 hr power reserve. Both look great! I love my Swiss Made watches but I also love my Seikos. Sorry for the late reply! This one snuck by me somehow! Have a good one!

      Seamus Muldoon great comment😊👍 I do have 80 hour power reserve watches but, I like you, I have a few and switch them out. I do however put most of my autos on watch winders when not in use. Nothing like Swiss made on a watch other than Seiko 😉 Best. MJ

    I believe Tissot is the better choice. Powermatic 80 is a more interesting movement from 4r38 and it looks much better. Personally, I like the design of Tissot then Pressage more, although both watches are beautiful. Regards 🤘

    Got the tissot as my first "real" watch. Mine is rose gold with a white background. and man! the trimming around the dial section and the middle section of the watch, the trimmings around the open hearts. Im starting to understand why peoples spend a bunch of money on watches.

    So, yours is not the powermatic 80 model (80hr power reserve). Yours is the model with a 38 hour power reserve. So it's a little bit more in line with Apple's apples comparison with the Seiko. A simple removal of the watch and you would see the differences.

      It's funny, a few have contacted me about their watches having a silver rotor on their Tissot's as they were worried that they had a fake Tissot. From what I can tell they are not fakes, not sure why the rotor is a different colour though.
      You know, I have never really tested the power reserve on mine simply because I have so many watches that I tend to wear it for a day and that not wear it for a while so every time I pick it up it needs winding. I really should test it.
