  • The Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University presented "In a Lonely Place", a lecture by photographer Gregory Crewdson on Thursday, February 14, 2013.
    Gregory Crewdson received a B.A. from the State University of New York at Purchase in 1985 and an M.F.A. in photography from Yale University in 1988. He was appointed to the Yale faculty in 1993 and is currently associate professor and director of graduate studies in photography. Crewdson has held teaching positions at Sarah Lawrence College, Cooper Union, the School of Visual Arts, the State University of New York at Purchase, and Vassar. Crewdson has exhibited widely in the United States and Europe. His work is represented in many public collections including the Brooklyn Museum, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. He has received numerous awards including the Skowhegan Medal for Photography, the National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artists Fellowship, and the Aaron Siskind Fellowship. His publications include Hover (Artspace Books), Dream of Life (University of Salamanca, Spain), Twilight (Harry N. Abrams, Inc.), and the retrospective Gregory Crewdson 1985 - 2005 (Hatje Cantz).

    I love his work! Kind of the opposite is the work of Tony Kelly which I also think is quite extraordinary in a much different way.
