  • A SCI-Arc Channel Clip Joint: SCI-Arc invites you to discuss the resulting trajectories uncovered when taking a closer look at a lecture by Gregory Crewdson. Was the lecture a casual presentation of his work, or could there be something amiss? Can we create architectural space from photography? Do photographers dream of being performance artists? Has art ever fully represented what happens in the dreamwork? Gathering commentary on the lecture from SCI-Arc faculty and guests after the fact, the video revives the oral tradition in a contemporary format as a bonafide mode for disseminating and evolving theory.

Wow. Crewdson's work has been of such interest to me for the past 10 years and yet I'm always learning about it's levels. Crewdson really is a genius.

This is such an informative analysis of his work. Would never have considered a fraction of this

Crewdson is the best! He also looks like Jon Lovitz.

this analysis overuses abstract concepts in parrallel, making cyclic statement with hypothesis from Freud and shovel it down your throat, well... it looses its meaning fast.

I found the first part of this video interesting, but I'm afraid it seemed to derail quite a bit near the end. How can you so fully embrace Freud without any disclaimers? He inspired an enormous amount of further research into psychology, and he is very quotable, yet most of his theories have been completely disproven at this point. To me it's a big red flag that you either didn't know that, or that you chose to ignore it. If you meant to draw upon his works as a means of creative interpretation then that's fine, but by not specifying this you're effectively using him for the ethos of his name. That's enough for me to question your authority on the matter.

This is not an explanation of whole Freud dream concept, but the possible interpretation of Crewdson' photos. Know the difference.
