    I don’t think the taxpayers should be paying a dime for this. Those homeowners bought their fancy house near the ocean, we didn’t make them so why should we pay?

      Exactly that money can go to other areas, home owners insurance sell the place to the government and pack up a move to a safer zone... anything near hills or water is prone to erosion and flood.

      First your taxes aren't paying for this. The city is probably taxing the rich residents to pay for this and they do lose real estate value if the city doesn't maintain roads. Having lived in an area like that I know the desire to preserve their homes comes from the beauty and the views. Unique and you can't get that feeling elsewhere which is why they don't want to move. But they are fighting a losing battle and they won't get the money out of selling their homes because of the geological uncertainty there. They are not in a good situation and projecting your hatred of their former wealth doesn't reflect well on you.

    • @wk4240
      @wk4240 หลายเดือนก่อน

      More importantly, they knew of the risks in living exclusively. Most of these residents couldn't care less what issues are happening in the neighboring city areas, as long as the feel there situation is good.
      Like Malibu residents, they have to fund their own emergency relief centers, instead of relying on tax payers to bail them out everytime they start whining.
      The $10million hydraugers are waste of tax payer money. They will only buy some very limited time for home owners before something truly catastrophic happens.

      The MOST HIGH. There is no such thing as a mother nature. That's an idol made up by a filthy nation of people that the book of Hebrews calls profane and sexually immoral.
      Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever. - Malachi 1:4
      The Most High is throwing down America, brick by brick, dollar by dollar, and soon all hell is going to break loose. Esau, which is the Caucasian race has judgement coming for what they've done to the so-called blacks, hispanics and native americans, and for their perverse, disgusting, filthy, nasty ways, and for their witchcrafts, sorceries, and pride, for their lmnop alphabet people, for all the lewdness, for all the oppression. Look at what the one that destroyed the Aztecs, Mayans, Incas, and all kingdoms before has pronounced he's going to do to America
      And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. - Revelation 18:21

    Back in the 60s took a class at Harbor College where they discussed building on Palos Verdes Peninsula. Evidently, a group of archaeologist and other professionals in that area flew over the area, and did a lot of excavating as during the 50s many homes on that side of Palos Verdes had fallen into the ocean along with, other buildings, such as a Dancehall type building and several piers…. It was determined that they should not continue to build on Palos Verdes peninsula for at least 100 years because the land has not settled yet.
    It’s as if, as soon as this report was made, the powers that be said “So let’s start building on the immediately. And that’s exactly what they did. Right there at Portuguese Bend, where the road has always been just that way. Slipping and sliding, land, continually moving… It’s not about “rich people” the people were not rich and those days, they were just people that wanted a house on a hill.
    Back in the 50s and 60s was not popular to live where the rattlesnakes were and it certainly was not popular to live at the beach area because of the “bad weather“ being that it was fog was unhealthy for people.
    If you don’t know the history, you don’t know the history… It has a history! Back in the 50s I recall many level Farms dotting the landscape. And I also recall a barricaded side of the hill below the road from Portuguese Bend, where an entire neighborhood had just drifted off down the hill. Lots of people that time were coming out to see this disaster. Nope, absolutely nothing new going on over there, but evidently lessons are not learned. Builders have the last say in the state of California it seems. Let’s take away the farmers land in Sacramento, which I also got to see happen by purposely rezoning their land, forcing them to sell at a cheap price so that these Builders could make millions of dollars by basically taking farmers land. Unbelievable… And, it’s not about which party is in office, it’s just about money. It’s seems that it’s always about the money, not about the people.$💔$

    I grew up in that very area ...My parents owned a home built on sliding land mass ....My Dad was an engineer and had a few geologist and civil engineering friends back then... This was in the 80's ...They highly insisted my Dad to sell the property asap when the area was considered absolutely strong and barely sliding .... He waited until my siblings and I were done with High School and sold the property in the 90s... That very property have been affected and may not be livable .... There's been two different owners after it was sold .... Talk about Lucking Out!!
