Toyota Highlander Heater Control repair - no temperature control

On this 2005 Toyota Highlander I had to repair the temperature control switch for the Air conditioning to operate again. The wires to the temperature control switch break because the switch becomes loose in the panel and then wiggles around until the wires break. I was able to re-route the wires to the top of the switch instead of the bottom and then solder them into place. This control board from the dealership can be over $700 so with a few tools we can repair it a lot cheaper.
This is the exact thing I'm currently dealing with. This gives me some great direction for how to reconnect.
You missed a couple steps that are important. When detaching and reattaching the ribbon cable you have to make sure the catch bar is in the up position to receive the ribbon cable. Once the ribbon cable is in the bar, you need to push down on both ends of the bar to lock the ribbon cable in place. Otherwise it will fall out again and you may have to start over again with whole procedure.
The temperature control knob on my '04 is acting up. I'll try this repair first, then possibly look at the Dorman replacement. Either way, thanks for the helpful video!

@@ThePracticalMechanic the real cause of the failure is stress on the cheap ribbon cable... better to swap over for longer loose wires AND check the other 3 knobs before zipping everything back together (lots of easy labor).

Everybody else says to unlock the ribbon cable you just say to pull it out just saying
What if you do not see anything wrong but still no heat Jake everything I have not done was change the thermostat
If the temp gauge is rising or if the heater hoses are warm to the touch then a thermostat probably isn't the issue. You may need to look and see if you can observe the movement of the temperature control doors and actuators to determine if the doors are moving to the hot position. the heater core could be restricted or you could be low on coolant as well.
Is 01-07 highlaner uses the same Climate panel? i have 05 but this guys sells a 03
Man from manila my 2007 is the same way. I think all the ones with manual control are similar.

Interesting, my bulb went out by the fan control, I removed the panel and found the pcb replacement in their for the temp control. I managed to break the ribbon cable! Sigh.
If im looking to buy that part what would i search for and where should i buy it from?
