I think the implication for that specfic scene is that you're eavesdropping and overhear the password. For the other cutscenes I don't necessarily think your PC hears all of them. Technically you can skip the Karen and Gilliam bit and run straight to the password door if you already know the password, but the way I showed it is how you would normally clear it the first time.

But... the only way to get the password is through cutscene shinaningans. Is the pc cannonically viewing all of these cutscenes?
