It doesn't take much for that replay it. My problem is the following itch to get a medal on every level in Master mode. I want that on foot multiplayer mode damn it despite I have no one to play with lol. In overall retrospect it was an excellent foreshadowing to the combat that was Star Fox assault. 🏅 🥇
@@Gator159 Ah yes master mode aka wingless Arwing torture trial. I remember finally earning that on foot mode back when I was younger. It was the silliest mode control wise but it was still so cool to see them running about in all their 64 bit polygonal glory. I DID get to play vs mode once with some family members where we had all 3 combat choices unlocked. It was a pain trying to hit anyone when you're on foot rofl. Aiming was difficult unless you Z button activated it; and you had to stand still for that to work. You'd just get bullied by anyone using an Arwing :P. It still was fun that they left what clearly seemed to be an experiment in game for us to play around with. I wish more games still did things like that.
@@TubeOfLaughes games aren't experimental anymore hence I really don't play them all that much. I just stick with the night that I've remasters and the massive backlog and I suppose if an indie game has a trailer that interests me. Otherwise I don't think gaming is worth it, as for online games idk. I've put over a thousand hours in Halo MCC because I don't really like anything else, and perfect dark XBLA is unfortunately dead.
I seem to recall on a video i saw a either several months or a year ago that there is an alternate unfinished venom 1 map thats mostly just the temple with the ability to fly through the textures and see the pillar objects waiting to deploy. The warp zone item may have overlapped both of these maps together.
The warp zones on Meteo and Sector X move the player to "sub-sections" of the level. The sub-section functionality is actually used for a few other levels; for example, the two versions of the Andross tunnels (the easy linear one and the hard branching one) exist on the same level with the branching version being the sub-section. Venom 1 does have a sub-section as we see in the video, and it loads after the warp cutscene since it's programmed to flip any given level from the main section to its sub-section, if one exists. I learned all this *after* making the video and linked the TCRF article that talks about it in the description. The video linked on the page is actually probably the one you're thinking of.
a bit unrelated, but Venom 1 boss has always been to me a testament of Boss design creativity and the reason why it is one of my favorite ones despite being underrated. would be cool to see another boss like this one in the future.
When i made my own "Warp Speed" GS code back then, it was always funny to see a map ending in "endless nothing". It never triggered a map "reload", like seen here. I am curious how the levels are linked together. I am assuming one value for the map and another value for the "type" of it? For example, Corneria blue route will end in "all-range mode". Let's say Corneria is 0x01 0x00 and All-range is 0x01 0x01. Corneria red route would be 0x02 0x00 or 0x01 0x02.. Maybe call it a "sub map". When I remember correctly, NONE of the maps with a warp in it do have All-range mode, but reuse that "slot" for that "funky" level. For a better understanding I would have to read the code how SF64 is managing "map values" or rather how the levels are constructed. If they are just an array of stuff to place or "set pieces" chained together as some sort of tileset array.
in my experience, basically doing *anything* after the boss initiates the instant-kill move crashes the game; purely anecdotal but i lost interest in experimenting with it pretty quick
@@uglybad4 I'm not familiar with SF64 inner workings at all but doesn't the crash happen because the game simply has run out of area to run the map on at that point so there's no code rules left to execute or something like that?
@@TubeOfLaughes there are several things you can do to get the train to despawn, and if the boss isn't loaded when you reach the end of the line you continue past the wall and enter a vast nothingness that extends much farther than the level itself, so I don't think that's it
Did you try manually triggering that boss's death flag and triggering the cutscene manually while in there to see if anything odd was awaiting afterwards?
@@0xPRIMEgs no, but somebody else who messed around with this previously has stated that manually triggering the death flag advances the level as normal ("I'll go it alone from here!")
interesting, at least for me, it seems it simply loads the level without the level specific objects (statues and camera movement/transitions) themselves, which is why theres a lot of missing stuff that isnt enemies (as they dont depend on level stuff), the pillars from golemech are most likely tied to him than venom itself, given all this info, the venom corridor must end early because thats its original length without warping you some miles back
Too bad This and Other N64 Legends haven’t gotten a Honorable and Better Re-remake The 3DS remakes were awesome and all But VERY disappointing in actually 1:1 gameplay/sfx/visuals, as you can Still be Improved and recreated Though Match the original Art as best as possible and Not Totally change it 🙄

This looks like a Starfox creepypasta.

How about the "Forever Train" mission on MacBeth? What if you disable the kill hit?
