Great , thank you, it's great to hear these updates. This was very positive, very interesting to hear about the wavelengths and the idea you should start early, thanks so much. 👍
Although I'm not an expert in this field, I do consider myself well-read and have worked professionally as a physicist on medical devices for decades. Having over 40 patents, mostly in medical devices, I can attest to what Dr. Chazot is saying about patents and wavelengths. A requirement of patents, as well as a distinguishing characteristic between 2 patents, is declaring the ranges used for different parameters - the patent examiners want to see ranges, and will push for them before allowing a patent to be issued. Often, this simply means taking the parameters you found that worked experimentally, and expanding them to what seems plausible to the inventor. Through the use of these different ranges, different patents carve out different spaces of parameters, but it really has nothing to do with whether they were confirmed. As a result, many patents in the low level light space name frequencies, power levels, and pulse parameters that are specific to dodge around other patents in the field. In my opinion, there isn't a "magic" set of parameters, as long as it's enough power density, and isn't so high as to cause damage. Also, good for Dr. Chazot saying that the treatments may not need to be penetrating as effects show up in circulating blood as well. Even though his work is focused on targeting, which may well have specific benefits, he is honest enough to state all the facts.
So it’s almost as tough our ancient ancestors were walking around Africa in the sun without hats or sunscreen getting therapeutic doses of solar 1072nm infrared therapy?
Hi Lauren, thanks for the question. The answer is unfortunately no, or mostly no. Infared saunas use a range of wavelengths which are aimed at being absorbed by water and so heating it up. Though it is interesting that they start at about 1000 nm, so there does seem to be some overlap. However the red light therapy uses only those specific wavelengths (in Dr Chazot's case 1070 but 810 is also common). I would not expect the sauna to have much power in the specific wavelengths that have been shown to have the benefits for AD.
I was thinking of buying a neuradiant 1070. Is this similar to the device used in the study. My mother has Alzheimer's and I would like to buy something that might possibly work for her.
What about all the helmet devices now sold above the 3000 dollar mark, mostly 650 red light and 850 near-infrared light? And can a helmet be used on people with blood thinners and stroke patients? I have read in studies that people should only use red light therapy on the side of the brain damage. In ischemic stroke, this is either left or right ??
Why would you expect that a country where biomedical research (including research on Alzheimer's disease) is driven to a large extent by the financial interests of pharmaceutical conglomerates would be "enlightened" in terms of the acceptance of non-pharmacological interventions?
Hi Joanne, thanks for the question. Normal red light panels emit light in the 670 & 810 nm range. Dr Chazot said that they would probably perform the same function WRT AD though not all had been tested. However his devices are helmets which sit on the head. I think it would be tricky to get the required amount of light in the right place with a flat panel.
@ModernHealthspan I listened to a presentation from Dr. Chazot from about 3 years ago and I was so intrigued. Very exciting, and great to see him on here with you. I'm trying to determine if Vielight is worth the money based on what Dr. Chazot has said. Would love to hear you interview them. I just lost my father to alzheimers disease and there's a profound family history on that side of the family. I am on the same page with regard to the current alzheimers drugs that are available, that starting treatment that late into it is futile. Such a waste of time and money in my opinion. Prevention is everything.

Excellent interview, nice man sticking with the science and trying to better people’s lives, not just trying to sell a product.
Hi thanks. It was great talking to Dr Chazot, I hope that he is successful in moving forward with a therapy for AD.
Great , thank you, it's great to hear these updates. This was very positive, very interesting to hear about the wavelengths and the idea you should start early, thanks so much. 👍
Maybe I missed it, but what are the two companies that produce the 15 watt 1070 helmets?

Always enjoy listening to Dr. Chazot. Looking forwards to the results of his research!

Great discussion!
Hi Olya, thanks!
Does infared sauna confer similar benefits

There is a product from Chroma called Lux Vital which has these wavelength and power
Hi Kyle thanks for sharing. It does, though the version I found had many wavelengths and only 5 watts (5,000 mW) were in the 1050 nm range.
Can you give details about Australia please I live in Brisbane Qld
Where do we go to purchase this helmet?
Neuronic
how can this be used ?...if i am not residing in UK
What about redlight panels ??
So can normal panel redlight help
Hi Joanne, thanks for the question. Normal red light panels emit light in the 670 & 810 nm range. Health span didn't leave the details of used device outputs long enough on screen
What about eesystems ??
Vielight out of Canada is selling products to treat neurological disease, and they're doing research as well. These are not hair helmets
Hi thanks for sharing. Yes, agree. They are at 810 nm rather than 1070, though Dr Chazot said that may not make much difference.

You look great, Richard!
15 watts irradiance?
What relationship has that to do with actual POWER RATING OF THE DEVICE
