    I have both the regular and ruggedized version of this red dot. They both run great from .22 to 12ga slugs. I have the lighter version on my 5.56 ar15 and the rugged version on my 7.62x39 ar15. No complaints after 2 years of constant use.

      @@Sparkyyy.380 I sold the optic to a friend months ago, haven't heard anything back about it. For $100, get a Sig romeo5 or Bushnell TRS-25 those designs are well proven.

    • @SuspiciousGanymede
      @SuspiciousGanymede 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sparkyyy.380 the romeo5 is higher quality than the TRS in terms of glass and LED. I have both and prefer the romeo5. They're not bad for entry level optics. The romeo5 has a slight blue tint to the glass and the TRS is yellowish with a smaller objective lens. I started with those red dots and worked up to the higher end Holosun and primary arms prism scopes. Once you get into the $300+ range optics quality improves immensely, but I know not everyone can afford them.

    I don't understand the paralax comments. I am looking for something to put on a Browing Buckmark .22 pistol (never hunted with a pistol before). I hunt squirrels with dogs so I'm mostly shooting up and close ranges. Would this be a good option? Or are there other things I should consider?

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Parallax is a visual effect that causes something you see between your eye and another more distant object appear to move relative to the distant object. An example is a gauge, where the needle may appear to be over a different number depending upon the angle you look at the meter. In this case, it is also caused by the height of the dot over the center of the bore. The further away your target is, the less this matters (hence the 30yds for this one). Lower profile red-dots like the Burris Fast-Fire 3 reduce this effect significantly. This particular one is a bit bulky and heavy for a pistol, it will work but is better suited to a rifle.
      Lower profile ones like the Fast-Fire 3 and RMR work much better on a pistol.

      It is unlikely that you will find one, most of them are very specific to the red-dot they work on and are typically found with the higher end ones. If the height and centerline are not perfectly matched you will get distortion.

    does the reticle wash out any in bright sunlight? looking for something inexpensive for 22 rimfire steel challenge

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not encountered a wash-out, this thing can get really bright. I am sure it is possible if the light hits just right and you are using one of the smallest available reticles. One note is that it does tend to "flare" at high brightness so the reticle will get "fatter" and be less precise (most red-dots will do the same thing as well, but maybe to a lesser extent).

    • @KMC_Shooting
      @KMC_Shooting 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      currently run a Burris AR-F3 on my PCC for steel challenge and have no issues with it in sunlight. i just dont want to spend 200 plus on a red dot for a .22 rifle but it seems some of the cheaper sights really wash out in bright sunlight.

    Other than the oversize of the unit, I purchased one to install on my 1911 target pistol. Initially when sighting in with the in bore laser, I loved all the bright, options of color change, and 1 to 5 MOA adjustments. I went to the range, shot the pistol 30 times and the optic exploded, ripped the vertical adjustment screw out ot the mounting bracket, loosened all screws on all brackets and is now Junk! Now I know why TruGlo does not offer any email or phone numbers. Their sight set was nice that I installed on another pistol, definitely not this piece of Garbage! $60.93 down the toilet.

    What's the difference between cheap vs expensive red dot? I don't understand some cost so much....I never used red dot before

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In some cases it is just price, the more expensive ones have a famous name associated with them but offer no more features or reliability.
      In other cases, there are size and quality differences. Truly higher-end devices will often be smaller, lighter and have a more refined/sharp reticle. For example, I have a Burris FastFire III on my Glock 40 and it is much smaller and lighter with a sharper dot, but it was $300ish instead of $75ish. In the case of a pistol I use for hunting that was important and worth the cost. In the case of an AK or an AR in the way I choose to use those particular guns, the less expensive TruGlo was good enough.
      So, it will come down to how you intend to use it and how important size/weight/clarity are for that particular case versus the cost.

      Yoko Kurama well aimpoints cost so much because they are battle proven and have a long battery life. The comp m4 has an 80,000 hour battery life. This thing in the video would not stand up to even being dropped once. It's cheap and should be on an airsoft toy.

    Is there a mounting option for this that won't raise it to high on my gen 4 Glock 26 which is my EDC?

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is not really a good chose for mounting on a reciprocating slide, this is more meant for fixed mount like on a rifle or many 22 caliber guns. It's a bit large and heavy for slide mounting.
      I would look at something like a Burris FastFire 3 or other micro red-dot. There are two ways to mount them, one is by having the slide milled/drilled/tapped and the other way is there are a few companies that make mounts which replace the rear sight and expose a mounting platform for a micro red-dot.
      On something as small as the 26 a laser may be a more flexible and usable option, such as the CTC Laserguard.
