Nah I don’t remember the exact numbers but if look at the stats of how many beings could’ve lived in the Star Wars galaxy vs the amount of Jedi even while the Jedi were at the height of their power statistically it would be easy for most beings to never see one or even hear more than in mythical sounding tales. Also for Han Solo himself most of his life was after the Empire took over and through propaganda Palpatine really did the best he could to get people to forget the Jedi and the force.
There are between 5 and 20 quadrillion people in the Galaxy; and in the higth of the Republic; barelly 10.000 jedi... EVEN in Coruscant; meeting a Jedi would be rare if you wheren't a senator or highlly involved in politics... for most planests; jedi was just a mith; some legendary knigths who served justice... but absolutelly MOST of the galaxy would have never met one in person... So yeah; during the Republic; the name of the jedi was poppular; people did not necesarilly had to believe in the Force, but they surelly have heard about that planet that was in the brink of a war and jedi came and with an screwdriver and some chewng gum stopped the rebellion... but for most, they where myth. A cautionay tale of not crossing the Republic... or a beacon of hope for others; like the slaves of Tatooine. ...but after the Emperor, even the tales of the jedi slowlly fade away. Sure, people would still hear about them; but surelly believing they where myths would be more probable... how could anyone believe a bunch of space wizzards kept peace in the Galaxy? For most, it would simply sound like a religion (witch it is in a way) and as easy it is for any non believer to dismiss any claim of the believers; for Han must be as easy to don't give any credit about them... ...in fact, we have seen that high officers of the Imperial Navy; who actually KNEW first had a true and genuine Sith Lord; wheren't so eager to believe that menacing and bizarre man to have any sort of true power... until they where chocked to dead; that is
How intimidating could Cushing be?!? He was doing that scene in his slippers for heavens sake, and he was from all accounts one of the most likeable and generous men alive!
I think they meant she was intimidated about sharing the screen with Cushing and wanting to make a good impression, not that she was scared of him or anything like that.
Sir Peter Cushing was a celebrated actor, for nearly two generations he was the face of Dr. Frankenstein, Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. He was iconic. The slippers was because he was way better than Lucas could hope to get and his injuries and badly tailored jackboots made it hard to stay focused. The only actor close to his background was Sir Alec Guinness, though the two had very different views on the film, Cushing loved Star Wars
I never understood what happened to Vader’s shots at Luke when he had him zero’d in and said, “I have you now” and fired. Vader fires at Luke BEFORE Han shoots the tie next to Vader. How did Vader miss?
Princess Leia was an aristocrat of her world. Her speech would have reflected proper forms until she jumped into pleading and dropping it altogether when she full on started "slumming it" and joined the core rebellion, (my take). Hyperspace is a fickle thing, "short skips" are apparently harder to track than long jumps and would also compute FAR faster as they have fewer stellar bodies and gravitational objects to account for, as such a "short skip" might be as easy as mashing a couple buttons, waiting a half second then throwing the lever.
That convenient 'space' next to the gate is actually pretty awkward to walk on, because it's a steep, completely uneven slope - and it's also behind him - far as I'm aware, he never really looks at the post that doesn't have the control panel on it. What gets argued more so is that they could have literally gone around it, but since that part is raised quite high, assuming another squad would have been alerted when the probe droid was destroyed (he doesn't know if it had the chance to scan him or not), he and Leia would have been easily spotted. Speaking of, he doesn't really have the time to think in such rational means, especially as he's been away from any form of support with his connection to the Force for ten years. What does surprise me is that he could have potentially just jumped, and carried Leia over (unless he was injured? Can't remember off the top of my head). So who knows. Because the Children of the Watch had no interest in getting involved with mainstream Mandalorian politics, it's highly likely they had no communication with the Death Watch either. This would mean they'd have no idea who Bo-Katan Kryze was, because up until Maul's invasion, she was only ever involved with the Death Watch. Learning about the fall of Mandalore would have been much easier because the Empire would have intentionally broadcast it, likely in the hopes of causing the remaining Coverts to make mistakes that would allow the Empire to hunt them down. But they will have also avoided mentioning names of key people - after all, a person doesn't have to be alive to be rallied behind, a martyr is just as powerful.
10. The ship is designed to be operated by a monkey in a gorilla suit. 9. Solo is being a jerk. 8. How didn't the scene of Leia floating through space to a ship not make the list from the sequel trilogy? Someone find me a Star Wars realm in which that makes sense
Solo not believing in the force: as mentioned Jedi weren't everywhere so it's not impossible that he never encountered someone who used the force. Add potential imperial propaganda declaring Jedi as liars and such, it wouldn't be that strange for him to explain any instances of the force being used as some kind of trick to himself. Especially considering he likely would have been a kid when he could have encountered any force user. Leia's accent: maybe a bit reaching for an answer here, but Leia is a diplomat so she likely had training on how someone like her is expected to act, she might have adopted that accent from one of her teachers and when she encountered Tarkin she acted as a diplomat in hopes she could talk herself out of it. When it doesn't work she stops using it and afterwards she was more a rebel leader than a diplomat, so she didn't fall back on that training. Droids feeling pain: Pain is the sensation telling our body that there is something wrong with it, programming a droid to interpret what their sensors tell them as unpleasent or painfull so that they would avoid it seems reasonable. Them not scanning the falcon: One the sensors that might detect contraband might work on the same base as scanners for lifeforms, so shielding might work for life signs as well. Also people might smuggle rare and/or endangered animals, so it wouldn't be surprising to have shielding specifically for lifeforms anyway if it's necessary. It's rather telling how many of those things are in the Disney movies/series.
If I'm not remembering wrong. Number one reminds me of what i heard about original Doctor Who and how they told William Hartnell just to press whatever button he was near on the console to do something. But he wanted to press an actual button for each thing and then use the same button for the task not just whatever he was near.
4:40 Because it's a dangerous maneuver that almost destroyed the engines of the falcon. Poe was just enough of a Pro to do it without destroying the Falcon but it still damaged the ship.
You didn't notice her holding the button for the galaxy map then when she only pushed it the first time. Maybe a button could have two functions or more if maybe tapping twice.
I had just assumed poe ejected from the tie fighter. Its not talked about at all in the film, but the tie they steal isnt a standard first order tie. Its a "special forces tie" which has a turret gunner seat, effectively a tail gunner really due to the side panel wings being in the way. Anyways...its a much more expensive and well equipped vehicle so i always imagined the pilot seat has an auto eject function of some kind .. it's actually more strange that Finn survived imo
#11 Which levers on the Falcon do what exactly? Seems they never actually agreed on how you fly that ship, as they are always pulling the same levers to do different things. As for lightspeed skipping? It just reinforces what Han said about how dangerous it is to just pull the levers all willy nilly to enter hyperspace. Poe comes very close to crashing into many things, the Falcon seems to split into two ships at one point, then upon landing the ship is on fire! Han not believing in the force is only confusing due to later retconning. More confusing things would be; #12 Why did Leia still have Han take her directly to the rebel base when she was certain the death star was tracking them? #13 Why did the jedi not have any concerns over using an army that was cloned from a guy they were hunting for trying to kill a senator,...a guy they knew was in league with their enemy,...and why were they totally shocked and unprepared when said army turned in them? #14 Why did Anakin still join Palpatine after he admits to Anakin that he doesn't actually know how to cheat death,...given Anakin just made it clear he needs Palps to save Padme, because he "can't live without her!"?
Also, it's stated that Poe is the best and boldest pilot they ever had in the rebel alliance (and that includes Luke). And it's happening 35 years after ANH so it's not hard to assume that tech might have evolved a lot regarding computers, hyperspace and calculations.
@@EmmanuelB that’s the main one for me - not inconceivable that tech would have developed a lot over that period. I reckon it was included in this list to help bring the sequel hate cult over to boost viewers :)
Confusing (annoying) things about WhatCulture. A British channel that speaks with a British accent, but pronounces words such a “lever” the American way.
I honestly can believe Han didn’t know anything about the force. Even though he was born in Corellia, he was just a child when the events of The Prequel Trilogy occurred. When the movie Solo came out there was no mention of Jedi or the force or laser swords or anyone with “mystical”powers.
And anything he could've heard growing up before order 66, especially with the empire's propaganda, he could've chalked it up to childhood tales of hope and fairytales
As to the way Leia changes accent; I’ve heard of a term I think it’s “Hollywood English” And it’s the posh/articulate way actors spoke in early Hollywood films. It’s basically British but with a bit of that American “twang” left in. My guess is that’s why she got heavy with it talking to Tarkin, and why it was more difficult for her to keep to it when acting emotional
Chewbacca is apparently a friend of Yoda's as seen in RotS so Han has no excuse for not believing in the force/jedi. Same with that imperial officer Vader chokes, he's in the same room as a bunch of people who fought in the clone wars. They're practically the equivalent of flat earthers.
Han not believing in the Force isn’t hard to understand. People don’t take into account how massive the galaxy is, and even in their prime, there were only about 10 thousand Jedi. The average person would never come into contact with a Jedi or any other trained Force user, so having never seen them in action, it would be logical to assume that the stories of their “magic” powers were made up or that they were frauds. Also, during most of Han’s life, the Empire was in power and actively suppressed and discredited information about the Jedi.
Solo does KNOW of The Force; He doesn't believe in it. He already has some knowledge of its existence, he just thinks its tricks and nonsense, which is probably what most people in the galaxy at the time believed in.
Leia imitated a Coruscant accent in the hope they wouldn't know she was from Alderaan. Lightspeed skipping wasn't new, Obi-Wan does it after Order 66 in Matthew Stover's novelization, it just didn't have a name because it wasn't considered a big deal. Safely jumping to hyperspace requires doing a few calculations that we know the Millennium Falcoln is good at. The Millennium Falcoln was designed for smuggling a lot of things, including life forms, and that escape pod wasn't
#10 seems easy enough to explain. The first press was instant, the 2nd seems to have been pressed down for a few seconds. Modern technology on our phones allow us to have this differential as well. Should we question that too?
Bro, or Han Solo had a casual conversation at one point with his best friend chewbacca n chewy tells him "nah fool, I was there with yoda n that dude was wild. Force is real apparently." Lol
What i always wonder is why the Jedi never use Force Speed more... in Jedi Academy i used it constantly xD They used it once in Phantom Menace and after that never again
There are a couple of jumps to hyperspace in Star Wars that are confusing. For example the notorious use of a hyperspace jump as an attack in Episode VIII. I mean if this were such a potent weapon it would be pretty easy to make an unmanned missile do something similar, which could have saved the Rebels in the Original Trilogy a of lot of headaches in taking out Star Destroyers. I get that distance does matter in hyperspace travel but basically the entire cat-and-mouse story line of Star Wars Resistance where The First Order is tracking down the Colossus where The First Order can discover the location of The Colossus and get their via hyperspace in what appears to be a few minutes. Sure maybe, due to fuel concerns, the Colossus may just be physically close to the First Order’s position, but also it just makes for a much more convenient story, that doesn’t involve a larger First Order effort to find The Colossus (and thus bringing in more ships and characters that would increase the budget of the show).
But we have to remember. By the time we hit episode VII, that’s 25, 30 years AFTER A New Hope. For all we know computers were much better at plotting a hyperspace jump. If you notice they jumped to some pretty crazy places, probably because the computer had to make sure they at least didn’t hit a star or supernova.
Some of these are bad writing (like the Poe thing). But some have pretty obvious in-universe explanations. Like the hiding on the Falcon one - those are smuggling compartments. Whether Han expected to smuggle himself or not, smuggling PEOPLE is a pretty popular thing to smuggle, whether helping them escape from oppression or ... less high integrity reasons. Even if not people, scanners might pick up certain materials or technology. If you're making smuggling compartments, having them be scanner-resistant seems like a really desirable thing to do.
I gonna be "that guy" and point out that the cannon explanation for the accent thing is the British sounding accent, in universe, is the dialect of the core words, which is where most imperial power is, as well as the senate. So someone who is a politician or an imperial officer would probably have a British accent, and someone in the outer rim wouldn't. Leia was presumably playing a character of sorts as she was still going under the guise of a diplomat. Easy.
Didn't Vader and Tarken plant a tracking device on the Millennium Falcon? The plan was to let Lia get rescued and then follow her to the resistance. They knew full well that there were people on board.
19:49 Dude, The battle the young din was in was during the clone wars on a non Mandalorian world during lifeday (the robes). This happened years before the Empire and before the great purge. He was raised by a cult who were kicked off Mandalor a century before during the wars that Jango Fett's father died in. Mandalorian is not a people its a faith, they take people from any world and often species as the original Mandalorian's were not even human.
There are people in the real world that don’t believe the Earth is round. Don’t discount the idea that somebody wouldn’t think the Jedi and force were real.
I’ve seen in another video that Leia‘s British accent was her attempt to mock Grand Moff Tarkin…. Love this video, looking forward to another 10 more confusing scenes in Star Wars.!!
I think because science explained how likely you'd hit something light skipping. I think you could go through the observable universe a dozen times or so and miss everything
Mando was taken as a child to a cult who didn't even recognize Bo Karan as a leader. Also, she totally failed as a leader. Why would they teach/tell him about Katan when she goes against pretty much everything they stand for?
And how long did it take to get from Hoth to Bespin without a hyperdrive, were they in the same system or neighboring stars that orbited each other and it took a few months? Or does the Millennium Falcoln have a slower backup hyperdrive that can get them a few parsecs in a few weeks? Did Luke go back to Yoda for more training or straight to Tattoine to rescue Han, making a lightsaber from Obi-Wan's old book instructions?
Laser gates scene in Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul duel on Naboo as they fight through a corridor with laser gates. Maul gets to the last gate, Jinn to the second to last gate, and Obi-Wan was at the other end of the corridor when the gates activate. When the gates deactivate Jinn and Maul resume their duel and Obi-Wan runs to aid his master,. However, he ends up at the last gate. How could two fighters deul each other from one end of the corridor to be stopped at the last two laser gates, but then a man in his mid-twenties without any obstacles can only make it to the final gate?
That isn’t the Star Wars way lol. Everything has to be explainable as if it’s a real universe, and if it can’t be then you best write a comic to do so.
I thought it was explained that it was a load of clones they were putting his life force into? Given that about half of the prequels and a shit load of the animated stuff is based on the concept of cloning, I wouldn’t have thought it was that confusing? Maybe I’m wrong.
Regarding Han not believing in the force: there are people who don't accept the fact that the world is round, that don't accept evolution, and a million other things there's a TONNE of evidence for. This one tracks completely.
Why didn't the Imperial gunners shoot down the escape pod at the start of ANH? They specifically said there were no lifeforms onboard. If there's laws about shooting escape pods then surely it's when there are lifeforms onboard. Commander: "Hold your fire. There's no life forms. They must've short circuited." WTF??? Saving ammo on a mile long battlecruiser? None of that makes sense. Just more of Lucas' crappy lack of logic I guess. Why did Leia fly straight to the Rebel base on Yavin, even though she knew they were being tracked? Why not fly to another planet, then swap ships to get to Yavin? Why didn't Obi-Wan use the fast run that we saw at the start of TPM when he was trying to get through the shield gates at the end of the movie? How did Leia remember her REAL mother even though Padme died when she was born? She even said that she died when she was young, NOT when you was born, suggesting that she took Leia to Alderaan and died when Leia was a toddler. How did Chewbacca not recognise a Jedi when he met Obi-Wan in ANH, even though he knew Yoda in ROTS? Ehh! There's dozens more continuity errors and warped logic in these crappy movies, and I've given up trying to answer them. Ironically, the one that Lucas has called the weakest SW movie is the one with the least errors, The Empire Strikes Back (original version).
I know The Rise of Skywalker is a mess, but the most confusing thing is the red poison cloud leading to Exegol. It looks to be like a mile or two wide, so why couldn't they just go around it?
It really isn't all that unbelievable that Han Solo wouldn't believe in the Force, and if you watch the movie with your ears open that is what he said. He never said he hadn't heard of the Jedi, just that he didn't believe in the Force. After all, there were only, what? One-thousand Jedi at their peak? In a society of untold thousands of planets, each potentially with billions of inhabitants, that is a really small number. In fact, ten times that amount would still vanish like a drop in the ocean. I find it more questionable that a nine-year-old slave boy on a planet not even controlled by the Republic would know of them. Not that that would be impossible, just less likely.
Most of these aren't confusing, they're simply continuity errors from films being made decades apart. The most confusing scene is Luke attacking Vader on Dagobah and you didn't even mention it.
@@martalaatsch8358 Because when you haven't seen the film before, you think "How did Vader get there? Wait, Vader is really a Luke-alike?" and you don't know what the heck is going on.

Alright, I do not consider episodes 7-9 cannon. 1. George Lucas said there would not be anymore Star Wars movies that would pertain to the original crew, Luke Han, Leia, etc. He said they could do that in their universe, but it wouldn't be cannon or something to that affect. 2. The movies introduce things that break the rules of the Force. 3. It is a recycled version of the Original Trilogy just with better animation and such.

Han Solo said that he doesn't believe in the existence of the Force. He never said anything about the Jedi. Even if he heard stories of them, to him, they were nothing more than warriors that were highly skilled martial artists who welded laser swords as their main weapon.
The Millennium Falcon is a smuggler's ship. It is shielded against scans. That's why a team had to go inside to scan it.

Wearing his slippers to work was how Cushing used to assert dominance.
I think they meant she was intimidated about sharing the screen with Cushing and wanting to make a good impression, not that she was scared of him or anything like that.
Carrie Fisher said the accent was the result of having recently come from studying in Britain, which only comes out in the first scene she filmed.
She was probably intimidated by his Hammer House of Horror roles.

@@stevenlangridge3637 it's not a terribly unique question, most of us asked it back in the 80s. No need to be shitty about it.
7:00 ive seen episode 2 alot, and never notices the clone dropship's turrets are mini deathstars complete with the converging laser
8. Leia being of high class would have to fake her speech to sound proper and when the order was giving, she dropped her fake accent. 7. Nothing says that the computer cannot compute a route. 6. He rolled. 5. Why must everything be explained on screen for it to work? 4. C3P was connected so he could not feel that limb unlike the GONK droid. 3. It used to smuggler's vessel meaning it goes out it way to hide what is on board. 2. Who knows what kind of defenses the Empire puts around the laser gate. 1. Just because you heard of someone or know what kind of armor, they wear doesn't mean that they are not fakes.

How didn't the scene of Leia floating through space to a ship not make the list from the sequel trilogy? Someone find me a Star Wars realm in which that makes sense
Have we ever seen powerful Jedi die from being airlocked before? /genuine question
"Lightspeed skipping" sounds like a Star Wars term for fast-forwarding through certain parts in a movie.
We can be pretty sure Han was smuggling life forms at some point
If I'm not remembering wrong. Number one reminds me of what i heard about original Doctor Who and how they told William Hartnell just to press whatever button he was near on the console to do something. But he wanted to press an actual button for each thing and then use the same button for the task not just whatever he was near.
4:40 Because it's a dangerous maneuver that almost destroyed the engines of the falcon. Poe was just enough of a Pro to do it without destroying the Falcon but it still damaged the ship.
4:40: because JarJar Abrams didn't bother learning the rules of the star wars universe.
@@kenbrown2808 No, he did and saw that there is nothing wrong with adding lightspeed skipping.
well, maybe they can only scan ships outside the death star
More confusing things would be;
#12 Why did Leia still have Han take her directly to the rebel base when she was certain the death star was tracking them?
This list needs to be ejected into space, as per standard Imperial procedures.
Leah is using her Senatorial voice with Tarkin.
My thoughts too.. Chewy never told Han about Yoda and the Jedi?
Han not believing in the Force isn’t hard to understand. People don’t take into account how massive the galaxy is, and even in their prime, there were only about 10 thousand Jedi. The average person would never come into contact with a Jedi or any other trained Force user, so having never seen them in action, it would be logical to assume that the stories of their “magic” powers were made up or that they were frauds. Also, during most of Han’s life, the Empire was in power and actively suppressed and discredited information about the Jedi.
'Only a Sith deals in absolutes'
Yes, and Star Wars canon absolutely makes no sense.
Solo does KNOW of The Force; He doesn't believe in it. He already has some knowledge of its existence, he just thinks its tricks and nonsense, which is probably what most people in the galaxy at the time believed in.
RE Han not knowing about jedi - ummm.... his best friend WAS THERE and good mates with Yoda!!
Po proved in the last Jedi, that he was already pretty reckless. So it’s no surprise, he would be so careless with the Falcon.
How about the empire not shooting down the escape pod just to be safe.

I don’t think he doesn’t necessarily believe in but he doesn’t think it truly is as powerful as it is
Droids might be changing buttons function
Princess Layer was a major part of the Skywalker Sogger, but nor Master Yoder, hahahaha
Plus Chewy fought alongside Yoda,I’m sure he’d mention it to Han at some point
If Lego Star Wars was canon there’d be no way he couldn’t believe it lol
It's confusing in ROTJ that Leia has memories of her mother even though she and Luke were just born when Padme died.
She probably talks about Breha Organa because she has no reason to think that she's not her biological mother at that point.
Nah, she said they are more like feelings.
Force visions or Artoo playing holo recordings. Wouldn't be the only "plot hole" in Return of the Jedi
@@joenesvick7043 I think at that point they weren't "yet" twins so it would've made sense if Leia was older hence more memories.
It’s because revenge of the sith hadn’t been written at the time
I gonna be "that guy" and point out that the cannon explanation for the accent thing is the British sounding accent, in universe, is the dialect of the core words, which is where most imperial power is, as well as the senate. So someone who is a politician or an imperial officer would probably have a British accent, and someone in the outer rim wouldn't. Leia was presumably playing a character of sorts as she was still going under the guise of a diplomat. Easy.
It's a retcon, but it's an elegant one.
Didn't Vader and Tarken plant a tracking device on the Millennium Falcon? The plan was to let Lia get rescued and then follow her to the resistance. They knew full well that there were people on board.
I would think #1 would be how did Luke Skywalker learn the Jedi arts in three days.
Also how had Luke never heard of the Force up until he meets Obi-Wan... He says to Obi-Wan "The Force?!?!" with a puzzled look on his face😆
It’s almost as if the original trilogy had been written and released decades before the prequel trilogy was even a solid idea.
Didn’t he also have a go at Han for not believing in the force even though he’d only found out about it himself like 3 hours earlier lol
There are people in the real world that don’t believe the Earth is round. Don’t discount the idea that somebody wouldn’t think the Jedi and force were real.

Light speed jumping doesn't seem that inexplicable. Technology advanced between the time of episode 4 and 7
Regarding Han not believing in the force: there are people who don't accept the fact that the world is round, that don't accept evolution, and a million other things there's a TONNE of evidence for. This one tracks completely.
Could, COULD fly into a star. Space is mostly empty and they were desperate, so they just had to go for it. Not something you do just for fun.
Why didn't the Imperial gunners shoot down the escape pod at the start of ANH? They specifically said there were no lifeforms onboard. If there's laws about shooting escape pods then surely it's when there are lifeforms onboard.

WTF???
There is nothing at all explainable in Episode VII to IX. It was JJ (destroyer of franchises) Abrams... 'nuff said on that!
More that Jj did not understand nor care about the franchises. Hiring big name directors was a Disney board thing that really hurt the franchise.
I know The Rise of Skywalker is a mess, but the most confusing thing is the red poison cloud leading to Exegol. It looks to be like a mile or two wide, so why couldn't they just go around it?
Cad Bane used to torture droids
The last one is just basically a result of the Mandalorian being shit.
How was that confusing?

Alright, I do not consider episodes 7-9 cannon.
1. George Lucas said there would not be anymore Star Wars movies that would pertain to the original crew, Luke Han, Leia, etc. He said they could do that in their universe, but it wouldn't be cannon or something to that affect.
2. The movies introduce things that break the rules of the Force.

Han Solo said that he doesn't believe in the existence of the Force. He never said anything about the Jedi. Whether or not he had knowledge of the Jedi, isn't important here because either way, he doesn't believe in the Force. Even if he heard stories of them, to him, they were nothing more than warriors that were highly skilled martial artists who welded laser swords as their main weapon.
