Thisone might be a bit of a classy aproach of them on pomades. I really can give you the advice, try JS SLOANE Caviar Matte Clay, my absolute Favorite, and maybe also JS SLOANE Matte Cream (this one I use as pre-styler or if I make my hair really quick, it is super easy to work in, but gets a good grip later) The Reuzel Extreme Hold Matte Pomade is also extremely good (silver / grey bottle) Cheers! I know you TOTALLY hate Suavecito Firme Hold, but I just got their new oil based pomade. Much more subtle scent than the water based, better texture and a lot more flexibility. Give it a shot!!

Didn't JS Sloane's owner essentially got flamed on Facebook and/or Reddit for being a condescending a-hole and a wee bit racist so he stopped making pomades, or am I thinking of a different brand?

Something always bugs me about JS Sloane calling their products "Brilliantines" for some reason.
SirRageAlot VII Exactly. Brilliantines should be light hold OB pomades/greases (be it hair creams like Brylcreem or OB tonics) that provide plenty of shine.
Squinty's Grease Reviews Or Tres Flores Liquid Brilliantine, not a heavy holding water base.

Squinty's Grease Reviews Now that I think about it, that is more of an accurare description then OB Brilliantine
Not worth the money: too sticky, the smell is not manly and too strong, not the best performance.
