    I started Zoloft almost a year ago and I will say it has absolutely changed my life for the better. Everyone has their opinions about medication so that being said.. I hope you and your doctor come to a decision together that will benefit you in the long run, medication or not. 💕

    I just wanted to encourage you and tell you that you are awesome for taking care of your mental health! I also suffered from post partum anxiety and know how miserable it is. Completely understand with the reflux situation! My baby was born on 27th of feb so slightly younger than Navy and she has terrible reflux and has had trouble gaining weight, our doctor prescribed her omeprazol which has been a game changer. We also tried baby gaviscon too, which didn’t work for us but might work for you :)
    I had PPD from all of the stress but it’s faded now that her reflux is better and she’s gaining weight. It’s definitely gets better ❤️

    My 2nd daughter just turned 4 months old the other day and she’s our 2nd with reflux as well. My anxiety was so bad with our first cause her reflux was worse but our 4 month old has reflux too and it has brought back a lot of the anxiety and post traumatic stress from our first experience. She’s on her 2nd medication for it and it still not helping much and her pediatrician doesn’t want to do anything else for her. The Wait to see a pediatric GI is 3 months. It’s insane! I know how you feel. Hope Navy’s reflux has gotten better now that she’s a little older.

    It’s so crazy, because I watched your video on Navy choking in the hospital when I was pregnant. Then when I gave birth, my LO also had a moment where he choked on his reflux & stopped breathing for a sec. Like with Navy, he started breathing by the time they came. Before being discharged, I asked the Pediatrician about it & she said that it’s common & that their bodies are built in a way to be able to swallow back down the reflux. She said there was nothing to worry about & I haven’t worried about it since. He has sounded like he’s choking on spit up since then, but I usually just watch him & wait for him to either choke it down or put his head to the side to let it dribble out of his mouth, but I usually try to let him handle (just so that I can know/see if he can). The fact that you can hear her is a good thing, because actual choking is silent. If I were you, I’d do my best to not just quickly grab her (unless of course you want to, you have to make that call) & see how she handles it. That may give you some piece of mind. There’s no reason for her to suffer though, so if you feel like she’s in pain or needs to be picked up, then of course follow your instincts. But if there’s a time when you think she won’t suffer too bad & you can observe her, then I would try to do that every once in a while. Just so you know if she can/can’t. You’re still right there, just in case she needs you. But ya, her making sound is def a good thing & I try to remind myself of that with my Lo too

      I’m so glad your son is okay. It’s such a scary experience 😭 That’s a really great tip. Im sure I would feel so much better if I knew she could clear it on her own. When I was in the hallway the sound she was making was like a piercing scream cry.. it’s the sound she makes once she can finally breathe. It’s so heartbreaking because she starts to cry and then chokes more and then does the scream cry. So I guess she technically did clear it on her own while I was out of the room because she normally doesn’t make any sound while she’s actively choking. Someone recommended Gerber Soothe Probiotic Drops so I’m going to try those too! I’ve heard they work wonders for reflux! 🤞🏼

    My girl is 2.5 month old and have reflux problem. Dr. Put her on similac alimentum rtf for that because milk proteins are broken down. It helped her.Also I was told to feed her small amount frequently rather than having 4 or 5oz at a time and go long stretch..it helped immensely..I am sleep deprived to feed her throughout the night but my baby is little painfree.see if you can feed BM little less at a time but frequently..

    My baby girl had the same experiences in the hospital with choking and continued after. She choked and quit breathing on amniotic fluid. She chokes and turns blue on her feedings and from reflux but it’s getting better. We found the right formula and somehow it’s the only thing that keeps her from choking and she’s able to swallow it after she spits up. When she does that, use a really good suction tool to get the gunk out of her throat and her nose just like as if she were a newborn and turn her on her side and beat her back once it’s cleared. We ended up doing a scope bc of the issues and turns out as we suspected, she has laryngomalacia. If it werent for her being able to not choke on her certain formula she would’ve had to have surgery to fix the issue but she’s doing great now and hopefully starting to outgrow it. Fingers crossed she doesn’t start the choking again when we introduce baby food. But bring it up to your ped about seeing an ENT bc I guarantee she has the same diagnosis. I feel you on the anxiety. If I wasn’t awake when the first episode happened she would’ve died. So far she’s had 12 blue spells from choking but my suction tool has saved her every time. We haven’t had an episode since 6 weeks and she’s 14 weeks now. The beginning was an absolute nightmare and for sure have anxiety about it just like you. I never slept and now she sleeps with a sleep apnea monitor so it helps my anxiety. We use the boon bottles, shes on reflux medication, and she always sleeps inclined. Just know you are not alone with trauma induced anxiety. Laryngomalacia is soooo common and seems to be mostly in girls. Please bring it up or your ped! We got into an ENT within 2 weeks after realizing there’s an actual issue. Hope your anxiety gets better with therapy 💙

    • @AbbyLindquist
      @AbbyLindquist  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh my gosh! I just looked up laryngomalacia and she has all of the symptoms related to it! I will for sure be bringing this up to her pediatrician. How scary 🥺 I'm so glad your little one is doing better. What formula ended up working for you guys? Navy is breastfed but I'm not against using formula if it helps! Thank you for all this information 💛

    • @haleighnicole5685
      @haleighnicole5685 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Abby Lindquist it wouldn’t surprise me bc it’s super common! If you have ever bottle fed her do you notice her making any squeaking noises? Some do it and some don’t. My girl finally stopped once we started using Boon bottles. She also makes a weird noise that sounds like a monkey but it’s just the flap getting into her airway and does it when she’s upset and crying. Also she’ll have stridor which is a deep growling noise usually when she sleeps. Hers is more on the severe side. Some can have mild and it goes un noticed. We breastfed at first but she ended up having cmpa, which usually goes right along with it. So we use Nutramigen. It’s so hard to find right now but I can send you a can if I need to. You could also try Similac Alimentum ready to feed. Basically a hydrolyzed formula that helps with reflux but it also helps with food intolerances. You can continue to breastfeed especially if she doesn’t have an allergy. But it’s best to cut all dairy and possibly soy as if she were to have an allergy bc it will help with reflux. You could also try exclusively pumping and using a thickener to help called “Thick it”. It’s a scary experience though bc the consistency change can cause them to choke more. However the thicker the milk is the less likely they are to choke on it. She choked on Similac Alimentum when we tried it once (due to formula shortage) but she choked on it bc she wasn’t used to it. It was the easiest to suck out bc it’s so thick. If we didn’t do that though we wouldnt have known she had this issue. Luckily she’s never aspirated it into her lungs. It was just a fluke that Nutramigen happens to be the only formula she can tolerate and it’s a scary experience finding the right one. If she does end up having it you could try a hydrolized thickened formula before having surgery, or thickening your breast milk with thick it which is probably the best solution. You can adjust how much thickener you add to it for their needs and she can still have your milk. Only downside is you’ll have to pump a lot. If that doesn’t work she’ll most likely need surgery and she will be so much better after it. 10% of babies with it need surgery and blue spells/choking qualifies for it. I saw where Navy is having a hard time gaining weight and that’s also part of it. The surgery will help her gain it faster. If you have any questions or anything feel free to come at me with whatever you got!

    Abby, I really do care about your well-being and please hear my advice from the bottom of my heart. Continue with therapy BUT don't ever take any stress, anxiety, depression medications u called. I am Social worker and if God willing you will do much better without medications. Medications is make ur case more horrible and it actually bring harm more than fixing, ur Body and mind are able to pass this stage
    And in regards Navy Trust in God that he has full control over Navy life you have 0 power over her , she made by God and she belong to him first knowing that ur anxiety won't help her or you however prayers in Jesus name is healing. My 3 month girl is choking in milk always when I breastfeeding her because she eat super fast and she sometimes sleep in milk in her mouth or feed while she sleeping, and she able to get it out. What I learned baby has reflx close the airway when things went wrong to thier mouth or have reflx. After feeding burb her and make upright for 20 minutes so food settle. I will be praying for you.
    I had bad experience with my girl second time I gave her shower by mistake her dad pure water in her face went all the way her mouth and she shocked on it and she went for salint for 10 seconds and I fleb her and tap her back she finally cried it was terrific moments and I experience same trauma and for two days I was under stress and anxiety and felt turmaized however I prayed and I trust God that he take this feeling and he did and also normalize what have happened. You will be fine and reflx will go away soon.
    How much Navy now wight?
