Thanks Jake, great video. I’m looking to get into 3D printing but have been apprehensive about how complicated I thought it might have been. I think you’ve put me at ease. 👍
Look at you go! Already adding a baby printer to the farm 😂😂. Great tutorial, thanks for sharing. Between you and Joey I’m confused on which printer I want 🤪. Too many decisions 🤯
Outstanding unboxing Jake. Very informative video, thank you for sharing it. If I had room I would love to purchase one but it will not happen for a while. Thank you Jake.💪💪💪
I’ve sent out quite a few blanks and folks have turned them with no problems.. I would think you may need to turn slower Incase the pla wants to melt while turning.
Great tutorial. I’m getting ready to get The A1 Mini Combo. My problem is I don’t have a dedicated spot for it. Do I have to calibrate it each time I move it?
Hey man I got the same printer and I have an oddball question might be about the slicer: Im trying to print this "cat key hook" model and theres this particular part in the main body of it thay has this lever that starts a layer or 2 floating. The slicer says so, and my prints are failing with or without supports. I see many people have successfully printed it in the same orientation Im trying to as well. Any suggestions?
@@JakeThompson will do! The file can be found on thingiverse by aarruti as "cat key hook". I found a person who even had a time-lapse video of that model printing, so I knew I had to orientation right. Conveniently skips the part I keep failing! Lol. Do you have any tips for bed adhesion? I'm having a slippery time with the provided PEI plate, and I am being careful to wash it well with just dish soap. Can I scuff up the plate with steel wool or is that a bad thing? Sorry for the newbie questions 😅
The 3D looks and sounds like a lot of fun. I’m thinking that for me a laser is going to be more useful and profitable. $300 to get started doesn’t sound like too bad a price tag. It wouldn’t take too many side hassle projects to make that back. Great video Jake. BTW, have you turned any pen blanks with the PTFD in it? Ken Moon indicated that it doesn’t turn like the resin and causes some issues. I’m just wondering what your thoughts on it are.
Thank you Doug.. I turned one round and showed it on cartoons.. I didn’t have any problems but didn’t turn to aggressively. I’ve sent some to people in the blank club and they have turned them.. I think if you go slow with sharp tools they will do fine.. I will be making different ones and sending them out for fold to try out.
Thank you Warren. I use PETG on the blanks.. there are plenty out there at this point and no complaints about separating.. the resin sticks pretty well to filament.
Great Video, i'm really liking the newer generation of 3d printers... Down the rabbit hole you'll go, you just open Pandora's box! Looks like bambu is stealing a page out of reality play book, ready to go printers or for the older generation "plug & play" 🤣 My first 2 printer was a printrbot and folgertech i-3, kit printers. 3rd printer (some assembly require), Tevo tornado with lots of mods. 4th printer, box stock creality ender 3 s1 printer. I am done with modding printers, I just want to print. Slicers and CAD programs are enought to keep one busy. I'm curious about the pen banks, like how they hold up over time? How visable are the layer when turned (one of the reason I was looking at a resin priners, better print quality.)? How is it going to react to the different types of resin and their tempatures? I know alot of it comes down to filament type and settings of one's printer. Wait til you try the "rainbow" filament in one of your clear with a little color drizzled in pours?
The problem here is if this printer does break down and it will the beginner will not be able to fix it and it use so much filament its stupid so as far as the best beginner 3d printer, not at all no matter what printer you get for your first printer you need to learn about the printer how to fix and maintain it and you need need to learn the software i do have one of theses and when a problem happens and they do trust me you better understand how a 3d printer works so you can fix it without bein frustrated, this why building one from scratch will give you some much needed knowledge.

😂😂 I just wanted this one to prototype with while the big one is in production mode 😀🧡🧡
I like the speed of that printer. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Mike.. I’m pretty impressed with it 🦾
Great video Jake, very well explained, Andrew is a perfect name for something Mini..... good call :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😇😇😇
That is a sweet little Andrew printer!!! Super simple to setup and get to printing!!
😂😂🦾🦾
I haven't thought about getting one yet, but it is a great addition to your shop. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thank you Jonny 🦾🦾
Haha brilliant video, very detailed Jake thank you , very cool name for the new addition… Andrew 😂😂😂

Thank you Buddy 🦾🦾
Still waiting for mine to be delivered , ordered it early october 😪
It’s worth the wait buddy 🦾🦾
No way!! Where from? I ordered early November snd got mine a few days ago
very informative!
😊😊😊
Great video Jake. I just received my mini not long ago and love it. Very fun to create.
Thank you Mike .. it’s a pretty fun little machine 🦾
Looks like an awesome little machine! Very aptly named 😂 💪💪💪
I thought you might enjoy that 😂🦾
I think they are called bowden tubes because it is a bowden extruder set up vs a direct drive set up. The ptfe is just the material it is made out of.
Nice.. Thank you .. I appreciate it. 👍

That thing looks awesome. I don't have one yet cause my son does 😁

Does the pla cause any issues while turning? Ive been looking at getting a resin printer so the densities are similar.
I’ve sent out quite a few blanks and folks have turned them with no problems.. I would think you may need to turn slower Incase the pla wants to melt while turning.
Love the fact you named it Andrew 😅 my carbon shaped today. QQQ wondering if you can make poop pen blanks?
lol I’m sure you can try 🦾🦾
I definitely have to get one of these. I have a bunch of things I need to make and then cast.
I love these things
@@JakeThompson They are awesome!!

Great video. How well does the 3d printed objects polish when put into a blank?
They polish up just fine.. a few people have made pens from some of the ones I’ve handed out already.. They look good 🦾
Great tutorial. I’m getting ready to get The A1 Mini Combo. My problem is I don’t have a dedicated spot for it. Do I have to calibrate it each time I move it?
Thank you.. it will go through a leveling process before each project you do.. you can move it around.. it’s ok

I haven’t done that model … I will look it up though .. I would probably ask the people who had a successful print of that model…

Hi Jake love your videos. What kind of filiment do you use to make your blanks? Do you ever have any seperation issues with the resin? Thanks!
