This is why real world usage videos are so important especially by people who use these watches.... The strap getting chewed on is a real problem because the strap starts to look old sooner than expected.... One workaround may be to use a distressed leather riveted strap which will look fantastic....

I consider myself a hibernating watch enthusiast but the 37mm Spirit woke me up! Hoping to pick this up someday soon as my new daily driver. I should visit a boutique soon but based on the videos I've seen, including yours, it is faultless. Though a screw down crown would've been nice, just for the peace of mind.

Picked this one up in blue to commemorate a work milestone I achieved recently, and I stumbled across your channel when I was trying to find a suitable review for this piece before I pulled the trigger. I've got more or less the same wrist size as you do, and this video helped so much in my decision making. The watch is absolutely stunning in person, and I really like all the attention to detail Longines has given it. Thanks for being so informative, and looking forward to seeing you grow your platform! Cheers :)

Hoping to pick up this very watch myself in the not too distant future, which will complement my GS sbgx261 and Captain Cook also both 37mm with 19mm lug width - seems to be the size I've settled on. I bought this Spirit 37 blue about a month ago and just love it. Wears more like a 38mm on my 17cm (6.75 in) wrist because of the longer lugs and slim bezel. The bracelet is awesome, but you are right about straps. The case edge is sharp and it scuffed up a nice DeLugs leather strap that I put on it. I wonder how the OEM straps work on this case. Hard to find 19mm curved-end straps anywhere.

That is really interesting about the straps. I never thought about that, nor have I seen anybody else mentioning it. I think the 37 is one of the best releases in 2022, and love the date position. I can wear the 37 (I've tried it on), but the 40 is really a better fit for my large wrist. I really like the 40mm titanium version, which would remove the date placement issue altogether. I do wish it wasn't a nearly 50% premium over the stainless model, but at least it is Grade 5 titanium. I think this is one of the best luxury watch values out there, at least in the stainless version.

Great review-and I’ll second just about everything you said on quality and wearability, as a fellow, enthusiastic 37mm Spirit owner!
Only difference is that, while I love the bracelet, I’ve enjoyed wearing my champagne Spirit on both the Longines strap and the light gray nubuck from Delugs. It honestly hasn’t occurred to me to look for curved spring bars or straps, though now that you mention it, I do notice a touch of wear on the straps from how tight the lugs are. Hope you find a strap you love for it!

For me the lugs are way too long, the lug width is to wide for the case diameter and it really should loose the date with those gorgeous Arabic numerals 😍
Interesting you have a GS which has the same look.
It’s a bit bizarre that small wristed guys rave about it despite the long lugs and male (clues in the name) end links.
I love the bevel on the bracelet, rather than just engraved lines.
I have a Zulutime which I love and was nice to see you mention the diamond thing.
My movement feels more like a bag of bolts than butter though, and it’s easily the noisiest rotor I own.

    Hi Sanjee,
I am interested to know what strap is on your grand seiko? I am interested in that style of pin buckle in stainless steel. I do not like the deployant style from GS, but love this more modern style pin buckle you find on some of the higher end models (also for instance those in white gold such as the Place Vendome limited). would be great to hear you have sourced the same style in stainless, and if so would love to hear the part number. Thanks! Matt

Great comments. My first thought when the 37mm Spirit came out was that it looked almost the same as my 38mm Hamilton. It seems I was wrong. I’m almost ready to pull the trigger and but the Spirit.

The endlink to endlink distance is hilarious. All that work to make it wearable on a smaller wrist and then POW - 49mm true lug-to-lug.

this wears slightly too big and the 36 legend diver wear slightly too small, I almost wish their dimensions were flipped. Also, how you gunna give this one so much lume ability and only have absolutely pitiful lume on the legend diver? longines kinda just missed the mark on both of these imho...

    • @engineer_wannabe
      @engineer_wannabe  ปีที่แล้ว

I have the legend diver 36mm as well, and I know what you mean. The movement on the LD is not up to the Spirit's standard either..
The only rationale I have is that the LD is a much older watch, and the Spirit was just launched a couple of years ago.
When the Legend Diver gets a full refresh, it'll probably be brought up to modern standards. But that is probably a few years away

Too thick for small wrists. Nomos club 37 and Tudor BB 37 are better options IMO.

Talking about watches, yes. Your talk about or references to "Spiritual" beliefs, not so much. Keep it real.

"A great price has been paid for you?" Oh? However subtle or matter-of-fact you insert your well-intentioned religious POV, it is out of place in a watch review. Rather focus on the price/value of the watch you are reviewing. And, your review is detailed and excellent..

The L2L on the bracelet is too much and if you go for a strap to avoid the male end link you have the spring bar issue. Sorry it's a "no" from me.
