Perry Miniatures- Agincourt French Infantry!

  • You've probably seen these guys repeatedly showing up in videos on Monday, but I don't think I've ever posted the video on this box. And if I have, you can just watch it again!
Perry Miniatures boxes tend to be a pretty good deal on infantry models, especially if you get creative in how you base them or use them. These would look great in all sorts of Frostgrave warbands as normal rank and file soldiers, or in blocks of troops for a Kingdoms of Men type army in Kings of War, nevermind actual historical gaming for a moment!
Or you could just go and Bretonnian them all up, because why not, right?
My plan was to put them to work in Lion Rampant, and with the options included you could have almost enough for your entire warband in one box! You've got ranged options with the ubiquitous crossbows, of the French polearms and spears, as well as close combat options. Sadly there are no shields included but those are easily sourced from a variety of other kits.
Poses are quite varied as well, so if you want to make every model a unique superstar on the table, I'm sure you could do that, well before you start mixing and matching parts (which is probably quite easy to do with the other Perry kits from the same era).
Sticking to a simpler paint scheme is probably going to make things go faster for me in terms of prepping, but I may come back around and try doing some fancier fashion ensembles for these troops in the future...
You can check the kit out at the Perrys' site here-

We all of us age into historicals. It’s inevitable

It's funny, but five or six years ago I would have sworn up and down it would never happen to me.
      Yet here I am...

The little 'hook' type thingies are belt hooks to help span the crossbow...... you hook your foot in the stirrup, bend forward, hook the belt onto the string and stand up.... this draws back the string quicker than using the windlass on lower poundage bows.

Very awesome to see you're checking out Perry stuff! I've been mixing and matching Frostgrave and Perry guys myself actually! It's super fun to do, haha. I've got a big pile of figures coming my way this month. I'd super recommend all their Foot Knight boxes, and their Mercenaries box. So many awesome bits to use in those boxes.

I have used with Frostgrave minis and there is lots of goodies but some weapons are thinner than Oathmark and Frostgrave and break more easily in normal gaming

Your videos are a great help for me. I love kitbashing, and always look for the most diverese and best combineable kits. And your channel is honestly a gold mine. Not only do you cover "obscure" miniature sets, bnut you also comment on conversion and which sets mesh together well. awesome.
I would love to see a top 10 on your favourite sprues/sets as well.
Your voice is also quite relaxing.
    Continue your great work, aweseome!

I think I like Perry's "Mercenaries" box most for converting into Age of Sigmar figures. You get your choice of handgunners or crossbowmen (or a mix of both), and plenty of melee fighters, as well as some command options. Great for a Cities of Sigmar group in Warcry.
Not to mention, going third party means you aren't just using the same old Empire models that GW sells. The different box sets give you options for how they look.

Excellent video! That is such a cool kit. I bought the this box along with the Agincourt English army and the mounted knights. There's a bunch of lovely, dynamic sculpts in this box, enjoyed mixing things up for my longbowmen :)

Absolutely agree. For regular humans they're a great kit and mix well with the other Perry sets.

Great review, your Lordship. Perry really give the best bang for the buck and are so well sculpted to boot. I wish the would make a box of 42 sci-fi figures, but WA at least gives a pretty good deal on that front.

@@tempestvenator9809 Wargames Atlantic. I know their sci-Fi death fields are only 24 minis, but as sci fi dudes go, that’s about the best deal in the biz as far as I know.

I want to say there was a set of figures from airfix that was part of a board type game. I know that they have a lot of 1/72 scale figures. Mostly from WW2 and up. Not sure though, looked it up but could not find it. Just tossing it out for you to look up and see if it is something that you would be interested in.

I saw some sets similar to what you describe from Italeri the other day. Romans vs Celts with an MDF villa included. Reminded me a bit of the old playsets I would see as a child. I don't think it had rules though.
My fear with 1/72 figures is that they're super rubbery, soft, and unable to hold poses or detail.
Is it time for me to fight my fears and pick up some 1/72 figures now?

I'm just getting into historics, 40 guys for 40$ ( cost of perry minis in Canada ) is really good. Warhammer you get like 5-10 guys for 45$.

They're a much better deal, I agree, especially when they can put to use in more than just historical games too!

Hello, I am wondering. how do they stack up with Victix Miniatures. I saw that you paired them up with a single Viking, but I am wondering if the Viking is form the latest kits since I thought that Victrix minis were a bit larger and Perry ones tend to be on the smaller side for what I hear. From the looks of it the comparison you made on the video they seem right on point regarding the scale of both manufacturers. I ask because I am planning on getting both Victrix Vikings and Normans and kitbash them with the Perry French and English miniatures for Fantasy/Medieval skirmishes.
    Best regards,

Honestly, I think it should work pretty well- I'll have to pull out some bits from both kits one of these days and see how they work together.
The Victrix figures aren't *that* much bigger, and they're certainly smaller than modern fantasy gaming figures for the most part. There's a few bodies that are a bit larger and would make great character models though.

@@ObscuritiesinMiniature Thank you for the response, much appreciated. Looking forward on getting some of these kits, they should work very well for suppling a constant stream of miniatures for games.

Just curious and I think im right. Do perry miniatures kitbash well with what frostgrave currently has out for there mini range?

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I'd imagine so. My reserves of Frostgrave bits are critically low, and are in need of replenishing. I'll find out when I get my hands on some more!

I'll have to dig through the sprues when I get a chance, but my gut says no. Probably from a Victrix kit is my guess.
