Metal Detecting River With Homeless Camp and Railroad Bridge

- Today we explore and metal detect a river that seems to be loaded with a lot of modern trash. We take a close look at an old railroad bridge and even get some video of a CSX coal train crossing it. Nearby exploring leads us to an abandoned homeless camp right next to the railroad. But things turn out okay, treasure-wise, and we find some good bottles and even some Civil War relics.

If people would suddenly, and out of nowhere receive lashings for all the trash they leave behind... there'd be less trash on the river. Shame it don't magically happen.
There should at least be mind boggling fines when caught. Much harsher the current ones that haven’t kept up with inflation. If I were Governor I would raise the fines and strictly and enforce them. Then use the proceeds to clean up these places. Not to mention some mandatory community service time cleaning up the river to boot! This would make people think twice! Nobody now is afraid of a $500 fine. It should be 10x that!

Schools should teach ethics, responsibility, courtesy, social integration.....history can wait until they are first civilized.

The ceramic cone you found under the bridge was a pot we used to use to Butae weld the rails together to get rid of joints. back in the 70s I was a foreman on a welding gang in Iowa , We had bags of springs and old ball bearings with stuff like gun powder. We put a bag in the pot in a metal frame and put it over the two ends of the rail , we put a hard sand form on the rails and put a torch in the form and heated the rails cherry red, then lit the material in the pot . It would start boiling and turn into molten steel and melt a brass plug in the bottom of the pot and poor into the form. When it cooled we ground the top of the rail and no more joint. We laid quarter mile long rails and welded the ends for continual rail sometimes many mile long.

That plumbing fixture looked like something the 3 Stooges put together.
Virginia Dare wine bottle.....I guessed early 1900s machine made. Looked it up. Good condition! They have been made over a long time it seems. Judging the top it's probably early machine made. 1900-1920s, hehe.

That looks like a nice old watch maybe the @nekkid watchmaker/youtube can repair it for you. make it look brand new again and work again. He does amazing work with less of a watch. I could be wrong it could be just a cheap one but you never know if it's not a cheap one it's worth repairing probably.😎

Every year we have a beach clean-up. Folks come out and gather tons of ropes, plastic, etc. then there is a big cookout to celebrate at the various cleaned beaches. Maybe some people who would like to have their favorite places on this river could get together to do the same. I take part every year in beach cleanup and it’s fun!

If people would just be responsible for themselves that wouldn’t be necessary. That is what is really sad.
@@melw2100 People aren’t usually Responsible for themselves so things like this ARE necessary. Weeping and moaning and Wishing that it were different cleans no streams or beaches! So go spend a day with your family paddling your favorite water and take Home a few hefty bags of junk left over the past 50 years or so. Have hot dogs and S’mores and Pat yourselves on the back that you have done a good thing! Make it a yearly or so summer fling!
@@wandapease-gi8yo every time I walk along the creek by my house I clean up trash and fishing line so I do not need lectures from you. What the world needs is for people to clean up after themselves. That really is not too much to ask. PS…I don’t eat hotdogs because pigs suffer for them.
All that trash is discouraging, and makes me a little angry. I don't understand why some people don't respect nature, and take care of their environment. As you said, it is too much trouble.

It makes me sick to see people leave trash by or throw trash in our waterways. There is absolutely no excuse for this today! I can maybe understand back in the old days when their was no trash collection, but today they can take it out and dump it. I’m not a person for violence, but nothing can get me there quicker then seeing some lazy POS just leaving his garbage laying for someone else to deal with. Thank you Chigg for trying to take at least some of it off as you hunt! In many ways it must be depressing for you when you see it first hand!

I'll take a good dog over most people. I always try to leave places and people for that matter, better than when I first came in contact with them. It takes minutes to pickup a piece of trash when walking into a store or something.

Found a treasure trove on My favorite River yesterday.13 sunglasses 2 prescription, hand full of lighters, and 4 cellphones 2 were still on, all in fifteen minutes. the area is over 150 long 10 feet wide. going back in a couple off days. The Area is in a remote section and hard to get to, but very COOL!
You pronounced it right Chigg. It's sounds like Haver de Grace but is spelled Havre de Grace, MD. I used to work for the state n that was my area, all of Harford County n part of Baltimore County.
The train is delivering all of that coal to my house for the upcoming winter... 🤠🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵

I've seen previous videos where you have come across more homeless camps. There are too many reasons for their existence and you have always shown compassion and understanding. There may be a lot of trash left behind, but most of us will never be in their shoes, and will never understand their stories. Thanks for making sure it was "only trash'. We realize it could have been so much worse.
Rabid beavers, smelly dead people, animal bones, trash and more trash…. The lengths Mr. Chigg goes to bring us real metal detecting adventures.

Hey folks, is anyone else having problems with Chigs audio? It seems when he is behind the camera his audio is muffled and hard to understand here. When he faces the camera towards himself the audio should is perfect. Just throwing that out there.
The Garrett Bottle would be nice cleaned up and displayed in the Garrett Factory Museum.

Give us a behind the scenes Chigg on how prepare and stay out there all day. Do you keep lunch on the Kayak ? That my biggest problem is I get wore down fast and get weak and got to get something to eat. I tried pack lunch at time but Sandwiches get old pretty quick.

Yeah those coal trsins are carrying coal not from the US and or Canada but from Russia and China.

Yeah that's how they power the thing that powers the other thing to charge environmentalists electric cars. I guess they think that as long as the strip mines to get the stuff inside those very flammable batteries is somewhere thousands of miles away, then they're doing good for the environment

We get a lot of coal trains coming through W Tennessee from the coal fields in Wyoming.
