- This is a quick start setup guide to get your MiSTer FPGA up and running with Mister Fusion and the Update All Script, Then I cover supported ROM file extensions and where to put them. I finish up with some core game footage (Im still learning the ins and outs of this capture card in OBS as the game sounds are noticeably out of sync)

So, even though the wiki and readme files for some cores say to decompress (unzip) the ROMs/game files I've been told Zipped files and CHD files do work as well.
I haven't had time to test but figured I'd report on this. If anyone can confirm- leave a comment.

Thank you for this well paced (not drawn out), informative, straightforward, and funny guide. I just wanted a sub 10min way to wrap my mind about what the initial setup is supposed to look like.
I'm comfortable with SSH, so I just used that to send the update-all script to the sd drive without turning the mister off. But straight to SD like you show is less confusing for beginners.

Yeah there are a lot of good guide videos out there but I felt the important details were spaced too far apart and when I first started looking into it I often would forget one key point while waiting on the next.
I've seen SSH mentioned before but never looked into it. Is it the new ftp?

@@LameGaming kinda. Here's a crash course: Install Filezilla, hit LEFT on Mister main menu to see your Mister's IP address. Connect to that IP with Filezilla, making sure you select SFTP mode, and you will see your Mister's filesystem contents (SD card is /mount/fat) while the Mister is running. Great way to transfer roms too :)

I installed Windows Disk Imager and it's not opening up also the link you provided for Disk Imager doesn't work anymore.
I want to download roms into my MISTer but I'm worried of screwing it up. How do I do it ?
Step by step please? I'm not sure what I am doing. I have a preset MISTer with tons of games and memory but I want to add cheats and other roms . I would appreciate any assistance . Thanks .
Download the roms drag them to the right system folders on your mister sd card like in the video.
For cheats I think you just enable unofficial cores, i cant remember now but have a video about it

So street fighter roms download to cps1/cps2 cores?
The update all script gets all available mame/arcade roms for you, you can play those right after the update all is ran.

@@manolocaballero3143 Are you asking the size in gigabytes of all the rom files?
It would depend on what all cores you are using and whether you have full game sets or just a few hand picked games.
Im running all 8bit to 32bit cores full libraries, arcade cores, and a few playstation games on a 256gb with alot of room left on the card.
