I got laser treatment and now I have a scratch on my eye where everything in that area is blurred. Also, it did not lower my pressure at all. Dr has actually increased my drops.

I had glaucoma at the age of 15 and it’s been 13 years now using drops and everything is fine except my mental health

I have had the laser treatment. It feels pretty much like you have been hit in the eye with a taser. The pain only lasts about five seconds, but the reward is phenomenal. I was wearing trifocals and now I can see clearly at a distance and only use readers for reading.

Been told I have glaucoma and it’s thrown me into a sadness that I can’t control.
It was a telephone call from rage doctors receptionist saying they will write to my GP instruction eye drops, couldn’t tell me if my situation had deteriorated from last year.
I’ve been in bits for 3 days and not able to see my doctor I feel I’m going blind and no one seems to care about me.
I’m 60 years old and don’t feel I can carry on

Don't worry Hudson. First thing, thank God you still have sight. Secondly pray and ask God to guide you to see someone who will give you the best treatment & guidance. Follow to the point your doctor's instructions. Make an effort to change your diet & put in some exercise daily to keep your blood circulation proper. I would like you to try smth. Keep a track from your last visit...(the pressure & all the other tests you would have performed). Then enter this routine for one month as an experiment: eat absolutely no flour. Let the only liquid you consume be water every single day...a six glasses for the least daily. Stay away from all meat...if you want, have a some fish...no preserved foods....no fried foods. Then re-visit your doctor and lets see the difference in those test results. You can't undo the damage it may have done already, but you can work toward keeping it down & consequently keeping your sight. Let you doctor know " what can we do to keep that ocular pressure down to 13-15. I was sulking one year when i went on a routine visit to the specialist. Wondering "why me Lord" Then this kid opens the door and walks in. He was about 6yo. His mother came behind held his hand and sat. When i went into to see the doctor i couldn't help but ask about him. She said he was born with it (glaucoma) at an advanced stage. From birth, he has never seen his mother's face, just a shadow. I felt stupid & ungrateful for my mentality. Right there i thanked God that i could see still. Hold you head up, focus on God....and do what you know you gotta do.

Firstly - have you had the OCT picture that looks at the retinal cells, actual lost vision etc and have you had the peripheral vision test. Then you will know more about the actual status of your eyesight. I have ocular hypertension but no damage as yet. Ocular hypertension is not the same as Glaucoma, it is a risk factor though but you can reduce the pressure and risk through either drops or laser. People with ocular hypertension do not necessarily get any damage and can live with it for years - obviously above 30 is pretty risky - but up to 25 not as risky. I can relate to feeling depressed after going to the eye doc. Its like being caught with a fishing hook and dragged into 'eye world' where you have tests every three months and it all becomes so serious. Some of the tests are not accurate also, so you end up having to come back for this or that. It is depressing. If my tests come back normal next time I think I will say that I am only coming once a year as after visiting the clinic last time I couldn't stop thinking about it for ages after, feeling the top of my eyeballs and wondering if the peripheral vision test was accurate or not. I can understand your worries. I wouldn't care about the receptionists as they are just people doing their job and probably get a lot of stress from patients. They don't know you.

I had this procedure (laze) 3 times on right and 2 on left however my pressure gradually rises of a period of a few months . This treatment is rather expensive and for myself has not been successful an am seeing a new ophthalmologist for a second opinion.

This procedure didn't work for me. It lowered the eye pressure for only a short time not long term.

Please do not stop taking your drops without speaking to your eye doctor. Stopping your drops could lead to your glaucoma progressing.
Instead discuss your side effects with your eye doctor as they may be able to offer other options for drops. OT cannot provide medical advice for individuals.
