I’ve been using GoPro cameras since the Hero 4. I got my first 360 camera this summer. It was a game changer. I’m now recommending an insta360 camera to all my friends.
I would do the same. I still find good use with the gopro 7 because it's just very straightforward and easily implementable while editing. The x4 however in my opinion has way more value when it comes to versatile and creative imagery. The extra editing in my opinion is fun to do.
The best comparison of these two cameras I have seen! Thank you for being so comprehensive. I wish there was a side-by-side footage comparison of single lens mode (4K, 30fps) on the Insta 360 vs the (5.6K, 30fps) GoPro. I am guessing the single lens mode will be more popular with buyers than it would seem.
I just bought a x4 recently and it’s absolutely amazing but I’m still using my GoPro for a variety of takes, like helmet mount or superslowmo 240fps@2.7k. Basically, I use my 360 only for 360 clips and my GoPro 13 for everything else. I’m still learning but I like this combination.
Insta360 is soooo simple to edit and export. Preview your videos on the camera. Select the clips you want and trim them if needed. Export. Done. GoPro requires you to preview the videos you want, trim and export each file individually which is painfully slow. Or download all the videos you want to a decide (memory intensive) and then trim them and delete the unnecessary files. Insta360 workflow is 10 times better. GoPro is dying and they’re doing nothing to help it.

Absolutely great review! Really helpful as I am in the buying process now with these two options in the final. Thank you!

Very good comparison… really helpful for me to understand the difference between a 360 camera(Insta)and action camera(GoPro)… thank you

Very nice video on those action cameras my friend and great sharing. Keep it up and have a great day ahead.
