I know he's probably thinking like, "I have Destroyer now, what am I doing?"
Considering longtime drummer Kurt Dahle left the group right after the last album dropped, I don't know why he would still feel compelled to be in the group if he didn't want to be. He's always sort of functioned like Neil Young in CSNY within the group anyway, i.e. a featured artist on another artists' album.

auramac Neko is on the tour, but apparently isn't showing up for many of the promotional aspects.

Great band, but the performance isn't very tight. And Brill Bruisers isn't nearly as good as Twin Cinema.
