    Your channel is refreshing compared to the other PH channels. Your main goal from what I can tell is not to make money off your vids (nothing against making money on YT). It's more like a hobby that makes it refreshing.

    Glad you added this new direction to an already very good channel. As someone in the 50's considering moving to duma with my Filipina wife and kids , you offer some good takes on life there. I as well hate drama, and would avoid it at all costs. I'm there next week again and will once again look around and consider if I could live there. I did love your house build videos , and think your house layout is almost exactly what I would do. keep the great content coming

    You are absolutely correct. Be kind, but don't let people in too quickly, in the end of the day, after enough time passes, people who deserve to be acknowledged real friends will be apparent based on their words and deeds. Continued success and good health! Love the Iron Dome comparison!

    • @buildingthephilippines
      @buildingthephilippines  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @BarakTheWonderer LOL, the iron dome is a new term used more often lately. More fancy than bubble or force field. Appreciate the comment.

  • @albathoughtsofficial
    @albathoughtsofficial 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The concept of having an "Iron Dome" relationship is not only ingenious but humorous, in that you could stretch the analogy a bit further and say that not only a defense system is needed, but early warning system as well. My Filipina wife and I have the same conversations except we refer to our relationship as a fortess. We lower the drawbridge time to time, but always remember to pull it back up. And beware any Trojan horses! BTW, not sure who released the Mark Thornton memorial video, but it was very moving and honored Mark's life the right way. Noticed you referred to Mark as one of your true friends. That's awesome. 😊🙏

    Good advice I needed to hear. I have a tendency to be an open book with my personal info; never one to hide who I am. I guess I feel that my openness will either drive off those who don't care for my type, or endear me to those who do...win/win. I should work to find balance, I suppose.

    Greg your audio has a bit of echo in it because you are in a big room. I think your camera microphone is getting mixed in with your wireless mics when you export your video. Not sure of your camera or editing setup but see if you can only record the wireless mics. Or eliminate the camera mic audio channel in your editing software.

    Hi Greg - another (upstate) NY Greg here. My Leytena wife (from Palo) and I have been married for 15 great years. Friends and acquaintances have come and and gone during that time, because that's how life is. But some remain, and we're blessed with that. I understand your frustration with needless and hurtful gossip, but don't get too isolated. Build your emotional iron dome if you feel compelled to do so, but keep an entry door open. A building with only an exit will eventually be empty. Besides, my asawa and I are moving to Dumaguete and we (someday) hope to be counted among your cherished aquaintances, if not among you close friends. We do appreciate your channel and the information on building a home, as that looks like it will also be our housing strategy if we can't find the right house.

    Hello Greg & Wilma. I don’t have much comment on your first topic other than simply be yourself and always remember you always have freedom of choice (in terms of who you trust and spend time with). But sure, it’s helpful to be aware there can be others who may not have your best interest in mind. So likely better to be cautious. Congratulations on eating dinner together and making your own decisions on anything rather than giving into peer pressure. Here in Japan where I live, most people are followers and do what is expected by social rules of conduct. Japan is an extremely ‘controlled’ society which I’ve never felt I fit well into. So, much easier to spend time on my own. It is safe to say, living in Japan for well over 10 years, I’ve never met a leader. No one would dare be a leader here for fear of ‘losing face’ and being permanently shunned among the group.

    Good advice. We spend about 3 months out of the year in the Philippines and we don't have any foreigner friends where we are. It's mostly about family and now there is a split between because of jealousy. We have a nice house where our kids live and we have our own space. The jealous sister is constantly copying everything we do too as they say here in US keep up with the Joneses. We have met a few foreigners in Baliwag, Bulacan where are we do most of our shopping but we just see them in passing. We're heading back to PH in a few weeks, maybe look you guys up if we head over to Negros. Thanks for sharing.

    Yes Sir, I have iron curtain, just like Israel, but it’s people. You are 100% on Track, another reason I always tell people do not sell out of the USA because you never know of China we could be on a plane next week heading to the states if shit hits the fan will be the first ones killed, We have to Exit,
    Thats just fact, We can fund our community safety from the US, But we cant do shit if we are dead!
    Happy to see this Video,
    God Is Great, Remember that, When I came here a Texan told me the only to worry about is other foreigners, In my 4 years everyone I met has failed lol, I font trust only 4 here, wife, nephew, niece, and one sister-in-law, and that is it, I have two full time employees growing my trust, But not yet, lol
    God Bless

    Greg; I agree being genuine seems to be lost. I believe since covid it's worse. My wife & don't have time for jealousy or chezmiz. We are still planning to go to Iloilo in Jan 2026. We're not sure if we will build a house or not, my dream is to build a home there, The costs have gone up so much there. I will check it out in 2026 & then make our decision, we hope our budget will be adequate. Martin from Vancouver BC, Canada

      Like always, I enjoy your content and your perspective on life. As my one ACTUAL friend always says:
      “Birds of a feather flock together.”
      As we mix in an open society we come in contact with many different lifestyles and philosophy’s. True friendships are rare occurrences that need to be cared for and cherished. On the same note distancing yourself from those with ulterior motives or incongruent philosophies is better for all involved. The good news is that since TH-cam is an open forum it provides for the
      “Planting of seeds “ as I think of it. The people who you probably wouldn’t associate with are given the opportunity to learn from your experiences and your example. How people react is on them and not on you. Keep up the good work. My thought is that the inappropriate reactions you receive are indicative of guilt and jealousy. The CRAB mentality. It could be the first indication of future acceptance and growth

    Gossip is unfortunately everywhere some places are worse than other places. In fact it’s one of God’s advice not to do in order to be a righteous person.Proverbs 16:28: "Remember someone who gossips to you will gossip about you, and gossip separates friendships"
    Proverbs 20:19: "Do not associate with a gossip"
    Leviticus 19:16: "You shall not go around as a gossip among your people, and you are not to act against the life of your neighbor [with slander or false testimony]"
    Proverbs 26:20-22: "Without wood a fire goes out; without a gossip a quarrel dies down" 🌺

    The thing about people going to the Philippines is Westerners are bombarded with the idea the Flipinos are the most friendly nation in the world, they are but only very superficially.

    Bad analogy Greg. The Iranian missiles get through the iron dome at a rate of OVER 50%!
    But yes, the Filipinas jealousy is extreme. Which causes lots of marital friction! But our marriage is impenetrable to ALL the people around trying to destroy our marriage. Our biggest strength is our faith In Christ Jesus and my Filipina ONLY having children from me. 😊🙏🏻

    Wilma probably laughed at the joke because she is more fluent in English than the vast majority of Filipinas.
    As far as hateful and disrespectful comments here, an interaction is an interaction as far as TH-cam is concerned. It still boosts your content. That should make it even easier to smile and brush it off.
