Thing is, I had the documentary sitting on my hard drive for a year or more, so it's not like I just downloaded it or streamed on a smart TV, and I haven't googled anything Miyazaki or Ghibli related, so either it's a big coincidence that I had this recommended to me or google has massively upped their spying game.

      So if what @Edward says is right "they recommend stuff that you are most likely to view based on your behaviour" & "not spying", then, how was it a friend of mine was talking to me about something I've never heard, search or seen before. I had no interests in the topic which was neither popular or recent, or anything relating to me, just something random. I decided to look it up on Google... Only got to type the first letter and there it was, a few results based on the first letter of what we were talking about. What's the chances that's a coincidence.

    • @StudioKonKon
      @StudioKonKon 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Edward I do know how search engines work, considering I have volunteered programming one in the past. Yes a "search result" (live result as you pause typing [I was thinking how to spell it]) and for "its usually the popular topics" that's why I said it's not popular or recent. It was something that happened locally over 50 years ago and was only 2 articles existing for it, one of which no longer exists (404) and the other written by the local newspaper around 15 years ago and only has 1 paragraph briefly mentioning it, everything else was completely different and unrelated (but this, I searched, was last year sometime). I've tried it now and it doesn't appear. I can't remember how to spell that word and Google is not finding it by its misspelling either. It's using the same account. I had my phone in front of me at the time and it was connected to mobile data (internet). My PC however, which doesn't have a microphone, uses a different account yet almost never suggests or recommends the right things I'm looking for.

    Japanese are indeed bad at war. During the first battles for the Port Arthur, Russians were surprised and shocked by the Japanese infantry tactics of running straight at the machine guns fire. Straight frontal suicide attack waves were japanese basic warfare tactic, no tricks or maneuvers at all. Same way, japanese never even updated their code system while fighting against usa, americans intercepted and knew everything what japanese gonna do, and in the entire period of war japanese didn't even try to ask themselves why. Moreover, during war american subs destroyed many japanese transport ships crippling supplies, and absolutely no measure whatsoever were taken against that by japanese, ships just continued being sinked. They are bad at war, but they tried.

    • @CDang-ms6dc
      @CDang-ms6dc 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They had a technological disadvantage as a late developer, which the Japanese military tried to compensate by morale enhancement and plain manpower. It actually worked quite well if Japan's enemies were also late developers or underdeveloped countries. The real problem for Japan in WWII was actually not about the technological deficit but lack of real leadership to lead the nation in the right direction. All those conflicts against China or the West could have been avoided if Japan had a more centralised leadership. A real leadership was no more once Meiji oligarchs died out.

      Injustice is not 'whataboutery'. You don't have to compare the Rape of Nanking to some other atrocity to know that it is one of the worst violation of human rights in recent times. I suspect there are countless atrocities swept under the rug by the Allies as well, but that doesn't mean Imperial Japan shouldn't be condemned for their atrocities. The Rape of Nanking is not just 'rape'. It's Imperial Japanese soldiers looming the streets of Nanking pillaging, killing in the tens of thousands and raping for fun. It's not about other atrocities that may have happened either. There Rape of Nanking should itself be its own yardstick. Comparing it to some other atrocities should not make it any less bad.

      The Pescavelho Channel no they aren’t...lol. They just have overwhelming fire power compared to other nations, to the point where it is harder to “not lose” with that capability.
      USA, Russia, China are arguably three of the most overrated countries in terms of war records. USA and China basically lost to Vietnam, while Russia lost to Afghanistan. The time has changed where Super powers can go full out and destroy one country, since it will hinder the economy of their country (and make other surrounding nations rich in contrast).
      That being said, Japan was awful at war, and so was Germany. They both took advantage of new technology to go berserk against old tech nations...when the US came, both countries were exposed.
      There are very few countries that are actually “good” at war. Vietnam was one of them. They fought against IJA, De Gaulle’s France, Cold War USA, Mao Zedong’s China, and won all of them (yes, they did. None of the countries above succeeded in achieving their goals, and went home packing). That is VERY impressive.

      I don't believe in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. Americans slaughter Middle-Eastern children pretty much on their own, they don't need Jewish influence when they obviously started the war to make money off of oil and weapons manufacturing. And don't pull that shit because Anti-Israel people love to shit on Islam too, and at other times justify the war in the Middle-East by saying that Islam is evil. You don't care about the children, you just want to use emotional retorts to guilt liberals and roclaim moral superiority, yet complain when they do the same. You're a disgusting breed of person.

      Nah, everyone has a different approach. It makes sense to watch movies critically if you want to make them. The reason why it works for Miyazaki is, because the topics of his movies are very timeless and he basically defined what a good animated movie looks like. He looks at the world and tries to capture it in film. So the right way to learn from hom is probably to not only watch movies, but to watch the real world as well. To see how people interact in reality and to critically see, if modern movies portray this realistically.
