Every film Miyazaki made, expresses his feelings from deep within him. But he never expresses his feelings of hopelessness. He want's childrens to know and always have hopes within them. That's what makes Miyazaki so great.
So true. A good influence on kindness, nature and bravery. I love him so so much ❤️🤍 always Forever and ever. You being hope , my kid loves your movies. I love the way you portrait life I love you
He is always fighting against his own despair. Why do his heroines always fly? Why does it run as fast as the wind? One of the answers is hidden deep within his heart.
Moebius and Hayao Miyazaki. Two great artists sharing their knowledge and talent. True art leap over race, culture and language. Rest in peace Mr. Moebius, you are truly missed.
i will feel so sad the day he passes someday. :(.. May your work live on forever Miyazaki. you have brought so much to the world of animation. and created such beautiful work. id be honored to shake your hand that created everything you have done. :)
Moebius is equal parts visionary. He revolutionized European comics, has consistently reinvented himself as an artist, has contributed to milestone films (Alien, Willow, Tron, to name a few) and clearly, his impact in animation is tremendous, considering even Miyazaki has admitted his influence.
I love Miyazaki's movies ... but frankly Moebius' imagination, artistic style and beauty is leaps and bounds beyond what Miyazaki has achieved... Moebius is simply god-like in his his use of colours and ability with other worldly renditions of fantasy worlds, it forces even the most revered of artists in awe of his art .. That said, Totoro, Pon Poco and Spirited Away are still some of my most favourite movies of all time ...
Its so lovely to see here Miyazaki's saying that his Nausica is inspired by Moebius's Arzak .. so the similarities is not coincidental .. and they cut to Moebius' amused expression upon hearing that .. I'm sure Miyazaki did Moebius proud with his own interpretation of Arzak ..
+Jose Abel Salazar Lizarraga I grew up watching Miyazaki's movies and comics .. I have all his movies and most of his comics .. I have the utmost respect for the great man .. Miyazaki to me is best when he portrays the rustic and colorful traditional Japanese life such as in Totoro and Spirited Away, its endlessly endearing, that is where he perhaps is better than Moebius .. but then again, it has never really been a focus of Moebius to focus on such themes I think. In terms of purely creativity, the ability to amaze me in the visual sense of creating another world and delving into more complex adult themes and the surrealistic realms ... there is just no comparison to Moebius ... it simply takes my breath away ... (as for Miyazaki's more adult theme animations, sadly to say I tend to fall asleep watching those movies, most are incredibly preachy in a rather simplistic way and they lack a certain sophistication to challenge the cerebral maturity of people)
+Jose Abel Salazar Lizarraga Lucky you Jose, you have many of Moebius's books that is not easily available these days ... I only have The World Of Edena, my exposure to Moebius started only about a year ago from looking at his amazing artworks on the internet .. I was slightly disappointed with The Incal and Silver Surfer Parable's art but its not Moebius's fault ... for The Incal the colors were not done by himself but by some other people and it totally destroyed the looks ... for Silver Surfer he had to awkwardly change his usual ways to the American way of coloring and styles and I think again the art suffers due to that. But The World of Edena was ALL Moebius (including his signature unique colors), its thrillingly brilliant and breathtaking ... I wish I can get my hands on more of Moebius's books in the future ..
+Jose By the way I totally love Princess Mononoke too .. Miya gave a deep sense of mysticism to the mysterious forest spirits and inhabitants .. By the way I would like you to also check out another great favourite comic artist of mine, Luke Pearson .. his Everything We Miss is a masterpiece to me, and also the first 4 volumes of his Hilda series, gorgeous artworks .. and also Jesse Jacobs .. Moebius has passed on but there are some great talents like these guys in the horizon ..
I can't fathom why anyone would dislike a video of two of the greatest artist to have ever graced this plane, in a video, speaking on each others' work and how it's influenced each other. These guys are truly revolutionary. Good lord, I love these guys.
the last segment of this clip is precisely why I hold The Wind Rises in such high esteem. It is arguably the most cynical, heartbreaking, hopeless of his films. That is why it is, in my opinion, his true masterpiece.
Saving the clip for a later viewing, but I'd like to comment (5 years after yours, ha) that while I agree with your assessment about the Wind Rises in general, Miyazaki-san did in fact struggle and changed the ending to be a more hopeful one prior to the release of the film. Not sure if this is covered in the interview segment of this clip, but it was in the Kingdom of Dreams and Madness. He initially wanted the dead wife to gesture to her husband to join her (to die). But eventually, for whatever reasons Miyazaki-san (I'd like to believe Miyazaki-san mustered the courage to) changed it to the dead wife asking her husband to find the courage to live. I always thought that this was an incredible backstory to the making of the film that just elevated my enjoyment of it to a higher level
this man is a genius, a true genius! i hope he gives us more of his unique movies, they are already part of my childhood and my daughters. thank you hayo miyazaki! :)
its intresting becuse it looks they have deep art crushes on each other, but dont actully enjoy each others company. Jean was famous for being a solo artist where Hayao almost never worked alone usually managin 200+ people. Jean wanted edgy, Hayao wanted family appeal. I think that the difference between Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks and studio Ghibli is that they think animation will be for mainly a children's audience with their parents, so it can't be pretty scary or too weird. But the movies by Ghibli take children seriously and know that you dont have to handle childrens movies with velvet gloves. Though it might play a role too that there is so much parental screening of movies in the US, as with finding Nemo (they almost removed that scary lighting fish)
@shockinbros i agree with you. The films that he has made so far are so genius and have qualities of masterpieces that i think even if he passes away at an "early" age, he will be remembered for the amazing work he has done, and the contributions of innovative thinking to this world.
