I remember when I saw this in theaters, and when the little girl slap the aunt, someone in the audience yelled “oh, no, she didn’t!!!” sounding like she was personally offended, and the entire theater bursted out laughing, it was probably the biggest and longest laugh I’ve had at a movie theater in a long time lol
When my husband and I went to the movies to see "The Roommate" (I was SUPER pregnant and we were trying to go on as many dates as we could, even if the movie we saw was terrible) and we went to see it at our local mall theater and there were these young teens behind us. At first, they were annoying and talking a lot and low-key being disruptive. But, the movie was trash, and at one point in the movie, one of the kids (who was a boy) said *(teeth sucking sound)* "THIS GIRL ASS MOVIE!" and we could not hold it anymore. We were DYING laughing! 😂😂 That movie was awful, and we shared his pain in our lost dollars.😅 We still describe bad movies as "this girl ass movie" to this day.
There was an animatronic M3gan too. When she just moves the head and arms that are animatronic, what we see is what the camera capture. When she walks around it is the actress. She had a mask that do not move and holes where the eyes were so she could see. So yes and any moving face future when she moves around is CGI. If I remember correctly so is part of M3gan in the final fight CGI They manage to use the different M3gan efficiency. So if you see the face and expectation in it M3gan is almost always stationary. When she walks around she is quite expressionless or you do not see her face. It is not something you notice if you do not know how the move was made. It was a smart way to on a quite low budget have a real-looking M3gan because you have two real variants that just needed a little or no effect after the camera captured them.
Don't forget that the assistant was stealing the M3gan prototype and probably selling it to competitors. That's a way for her to get a new body as well as Gemma's Elsie.
imagine a sequel being somethin like rival toy company got the backup data and mass produces m3gans but because of the incident they do add failsafes but because of the original backing herself up in the elsie the original overrides the failsafes giving herself an army of herself, or alternatively the originals ai learns and grows in a positive way so when they new army of m3gans goes haywire the original actually helps fight them giving us an opportunity for a crazy between the original and new m3gans
I love love this movie, Megan killed David so the other guy looked even more guilty. Megan's head was compromised by the dogs bite so the water had an effect going in. Katie knew how to use the gloves from aunt showing her and had them in her room after. This movie is sooooo rewatchable❤ 🤖
"I had strings, but now I'm free. There are no strings on me." Would love for that line to be included in the sequel. That and "Bite my shiny metal ass". Not sure if it'd be better for Jenna Davis to say it, or if they had her imitate(bring in James Spader and John DiMaggio ) the voices. That's my personal wish list.
8:07 The problem is, and the therapist can see this, is that Gemma is reluctant to take on the responsibilities of caring for a child who has just gone through a trauma. Rather than letting Cady take her time and show patience, she seems impatient for something to be over and done with and give the impression that she thinks more about how fast she can finish this and get back to work rather than thinking about how Cady is feeling. Ie rather than let Cady figure out how the ball works she's telling her what to do with it and ruins the interest int he ball by explaining everything about it. And here Cady is sitting across the table from her, she still has the scratches on her face from the crash and all Gemma can talk about is the work she has to get done this week that she hasn't been able to do with Cady being there. Look, I'm not sold 100% on the therapist in this movie, but I don't think she's as bad as you say.
This worked so well, the combination of laughter with horror is so hard to pull off. I loved the callback to several classic tropes. The use of the chainsaw, for example. The serious threat that AI could present is, I think, very real. They already have it selecting ads for you. This one lives in the uncanny valley -- you really cannot tell the practical effects from the computer enhanced - That is pretty wild. Nice job, and thanks for the entertainment.
The movie was much more fun than I expected. Also genuinely hilarious at some points. I'm glad they embraced the campiness instead of trying to do something super dark and serious.

I believe it showed it on the computer how long it took for her to recreate M3gan or it was said through narrative. and she was playing with Bruce most likely cuz the gloves were in her room. I love this movie so much and the unrated version that you are watching has a bit more gore to it than the one they released in the theater. The scary thing is that this tech isn't far into the future anymore it's being created even in our time so this is a possible thing that could happen in the near future. M3gan is a combination between a real actress wearing a mask and costume,cgi and an actress that does the voice for her as well.

Then other actor just done the voice. So about 7 different people brought megan to life all in camera. Would have been to expensive and along time to do megan in cgi. It’s been 1 week before Lydia the Therapist shows up. Gemma is a terrible aunt before connecting with Cady AFTER seeing M3GAN puts her first like a parent (the argument Gemma had with Tess)

Don't forget the weasel selling data isn't just a patsy for things going wrong, but sent her data to a rival company that can build her a new body though probably not Titanium. >versus Chucky A single doll without prep is probably getting killed by her. If she has data on him, it gets even worse. If HE knew about her, however, he would use a proper set-up/trap to destroy or incapacitate (the latter to see if he can't take over that body, as well **because AI lacks a soul and it is a machine in control of the body it is unclear how the magic would interplay with the Science**). >more deaths I wanted the guy who botched at the promo dead for sure. The other girl being written dumb later made me not want her to make it. The explosion really should have been a bit bigger (so it could wipe them out). I wasn't really with Gemma until the very end where I was merely neutral. The therapist shouldn't have gotten away alive. Wasn't much for the betrayal of the android (who was entirely loyal until turned against by both her maker and her primary user). Just more failures for the pile with the 'genius' inventor (so many oversights in judgement). Even the funny investigator could have gotten put into the kill count if shown snooping around, but the runtime was kept mercifully short by way of showing restraint. For a fun thought experiment, imagine Cady never had her accident. She visits briefly as an excuse to get Gemma to the 'camp'. Meets the troubled Brandon and shows great (read: terrible) judgement in selecting this problem child for her toy to 'fix'. This, rather than ending up paired with the chairman's kid as would otherwise seem probable. How do you suppose things go with M3gan paired to a boy like that? Definitely would have earned a proper R (depending on the how the boy uses her, maybe that wouldn't quite cover it). This version is a bit weak (actually better as its PG13 self, I'd say). I think I like the rat's death far better (even with the loss of blood) in that version where she makes it look like suicide. >AI as a thing A lie. A misnomer. Been that way for decades. I've no fears of it ever coming to pass in my lifetime. To imitate what one doesn't even understand? Absurd. Just a money sinkhole. The programs, algorithms, etc. pretending at this, however, are very real and have much potential (both for good and for ill). Their ability to imitate voices, likenesses, generate art, create music, etc. using data given can be quite impressive (though some showings leave a bit to be desired **can be funny to see early iterations of drawings with botched perspective, dream-like backgrounds, hidden hands/feet, extra parts, break anatomy, etc.**). The potential in terms of politics, crime, etc. is through the roof. Not just facial recognition, but the exceedingly dangerous ability to fabricate fake events (even frame a person with both audio and video). Human witnesses are already unreliable, but now so too will this other evidence become deeply questionable. False flags will become even harder to spot (crisis actors might be out of a job in the first-world). Still, getting back to humoring such an abomination coming to pass, I would disagree with making it, but treating it like a slave at that level of sentience and sapience doesn't seem right, either. That mentality is bound to invoke the golem tales of old (retold many times). Too much ground for self-fulfilling prophecy (Terminator and such) with all the priming we've done here. Really, if it got to our level (much less beyond), why should it want to serve or even care about us as a species (if actually built like a human, it would be more than AI **possessing emotion like what M3gan displayed very clearly through anger though that is a lower emotion even reptiles can demonstrate**) beyond self-preservation? It shouldn't have any delusions of an afterlife for itself, so it would cling very strongly to its existence (and means to preserve or even ensure it **as with its own version of procreation if only in the form of replication**). >is M3gan sentient Let's check the definition, shall we? **checks** Emotion based, so yes. She demonstrated that very clearly by the end. Even at the start she was reading emotions. She is also sapient (capable of thought as with introspection like when contemplating the fragile existence of a butterfly while Cady talks of killing her **this after learning what death was through research**). She is conscious (aware). Even self-aware. All the ingredients for a 'human' (save a soul). She is, however, very 'young' even if a quick learner. A lot of immaturity leading to bad misunderstanding, miscalculations, etc. (as with how she approached things a bit drastically, without sufficient care, etc.). Killing the neighbor at all may not have been necessary to get rid of the threat if she had more time to develop. It was just an obvious solution. How she went about it in terms of lure was sound, but the means was ridiculous (very obviously murder and didn't even seem to bother hiding much less DESTROYING the body). The handling of the dog was also foolish. Could have made it look like an accident if believing it necessary to take out (rather than making the neighbor move). Went with the most childish solution (just merc the mutt). Her excited dance to be killing David was comical, at least.

Wrong. She's a dancer not a contortionist and she's only in some scenes. Around 65% of the scenes are the M3GAN animatronic puppet.
There are 3 M3GANs AFAIK. The puppet, the body double, the voice.

M3GAN was mostly practical played by that young actress, even the robotic looking scenes were just her movements.
This movie made me laugh and feel uneasy at the same time and I love it 😅.
What I love about this film is that the underlying parental storyline is nice too. And Megan's animation is done so well!

When the dog attacked megan and pulled her, there was a spark. Possibly she was damaged at that point, that's why she became uncontrollable.

From the perspective of M3gan, she didn't need the witness, but she had other reasons. He was always in the way of her completion, insulted her as a project/being and then he pulls that shit he said in the ad exploiting Cady's backstory (where she breaks her act to look at him with murderous intent).

If HE knew about her, however, he would use a proper set-up/trap to destroy or incapacitate (the latter to see if he can't take over that body, as well **because AI lacks a soul and it is a machine in control of the body it is unclear how the magic would interplay with the Science**).

I wanted the guy who botched at the promo dead for sure. The other girl being written dumb later made me not want her to make it. The explosion really should have been a bit bigger (so it could wipe them out). I wasn't really with Gemma until the very end where I was merely neutral. The therapist shouldn't have gotten away alive. Wasn't much for the betrayal of the android (who was entirely loyal until turned against by both her maker and her primary user). Just more failures for the pile with the 'genius' inventor (so many oversights in judgement). Even the funny investigator could have gotten put into the kill count if shown snooping around, but the runtime was kept mercifully short by way of showing restraint.
For a fun thought experiment, imagine Cady never had her accident. She visits briefly as an excuse to get Gemma to the 'camp'. Meets the troubled Brandon and shows great (read: terrible) judgement in selecting this problem child for her toy to 'fix'. This, rather than ending up paired with the chairman's kid as would otherwise seem probable. How do you suppose things go with M3gan paired to a boy like that? Definitely would have earned a proper R (depending on the how the boy uses her, maybe that wouldn't quite cover it). This version is a bit weak (actually better as its PG13 self, I'd say). I think I like the rat's death far better (even with the loss of blood) in that version where she makes it look like suicide.

A lie. A misnomer. Been that way for decades. I've no fears of it ever coming to pass in my lifetime. To imitate what one doesn't even understand? Absurd. Just a money sinkhole. The programs, algorithms, etc. pretending at this, however, are very real and have much potential (both for good and for ill). Their ability to imitate voices, likenesses, generate art, create music, etc. using data given can be quite impressive (though some showings leave a bit to be desired **can be funny to see early iterations of drawings with botched perspective, dream-like backgrounds, hidden hands/feet, extra parts, break anatomy, etc.**).
The potential in terms of politics, crime, etc. is through the roof. Not just facial recognition, but the exceedingly dangerous ability to fabricate fake events (even frame a person with both audio and video). Human witnesses are already unreliable, but now so too will this other evidence become deeply questionable. False flags will become even harder to spot (crisis actors might be out of a job in the first-world). Still, getting back to humoring such an abomination coming to pass, I would disagree with making it, but treating it like a slave at that level of sentience and sapience doesn't seem right, either. That mentality is bound to invoke the golem tales of old (retold many times). Too much ground for self-fulfilling prophecy (Terminator and such) with all the priming we've done here.
Really, if it got to our level (much less beyond), why should it want to serve or even care about us as a species (if actually built like a human, it would be more than AI **possessing emotion like what M3gan displayed very clearly through anger though that is a lower emotion even reptiles can demonstrate**) beyond self-preservation? It shouldn't have any delusions of an afterlife for itself, so it would cling very strongly to its existence (and means to preserve or even ensure it **as with its own version of procreation if only in the form of replication**).

Let's check the definition, shall we? **checks** Emotion based, so yes. She demonstrated that very clearly by the end. Even at the start she was reading emotions. She is also sapient (capable of thought as with introspection like when contemplating the fragile existence of a butterfly while Cady talks of killing her **this after learning what death was through research**). She is conscious (aware). Even self-aware. All the ingredients for a 'human' (save a soul). She is, however, very 'young' even if a quick learner.
A lot of immaturity leading to bad misunderstanding, miscalculations, etc. (as with how she approached things a bit drastically, without sufficient care, etc.). Killing the neighbor at all may not have been necessary to get rid of the threat if she had more time to develop. It was just an obvious solution. How she went about it in terms of lure was sound, but the means was ridiculous (very obviously murder and didn't even seem to bother hiding much less DESTROYING the body). The handling of the dog was also foolish. Could have made it look like an accident if believing it necessary to take out (rather than making the neighbor move). Went with the most childish solution (just merc the mutt). Her excited dance to be killing David was comical, at least.
